I found another Wild About You card swap in my stash that I wanted to share. At every Starz downine meeting we do a swap. I know I got this from one of the meetings but I don’t know who made it and they didn’t put their name on it so I can’t tell you who designed it. Wild About You is on the Last Chance list so don’t miss out on this fun animal set – great for kids!
I was having a problem getting the picture to load – but now I am on a different computer and it seems to be working. This is an old card sample and the ribbon and card stock are from a prior catalog – so just imagine replacing it with something current. The idea for this card is really cute.
Supplies:
- Purely Pomegranate card stock – use Ruby Red or another red card stock
- Old Olive card stock
- Confetti cream card stock
- Scallop circle punch
- 1/16″ hand held punch
- 1-3/8″ circle punch

- Whisper White craft ink
- Purely Pomegranate ribbon – use another ribbon
- Wild About You stamp set
- Happy Everything stamp set

I think this is a fun card!
Have a fun weekend!
Jun 14, 2009 | Big Shot, Blog Tour, class, In Colors, Retired List, Stamps, SU Ribbon, Wild About You |
Wild About You is another stamp set that is retiring this month and one that I think is so much fun. It works for cards, great for kids stuff and great for scrapbook pages too. Today is the last day for the Late Night Stamper’s challenge to use one retiring stamp set and create three different cards with it. So I just finished doing that with the Wild About You stamp set. We will make atleast one of these card at my Last Chance Stamp-a-Stack class on Friday.
The first card was an idea from Wendy that we made atleast 2 years ago and used the same 3-d layering technique that I did on the watercoloring cards I’ve shown lately. The lion gets stamped three times and you cut out his mane and his face seperately and layer with dimensionals.
The second card is a design from Stampin’ Up! and uses the In Colors – Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango and Pacific Point. The heart is punched with the Heart to Heart punch. The corduroy button in Pacific Point adds a little pop. The Tangerine Tango edge is done with the scallop border punch. Punch the edge once then slide it over and punch again and it gives it a jagged look like the teeth of the alligator – also a good way to cover up when you mess up aligning the scallop punch – you meant to do that!
The third card was my design – I have collected elephants since I was a little girl and love this little elephant. Not sure why but I decided to do a pink and brown card and make it a new baby card. I don’t have any baby girls but the pink and brown seem to be popular for decorating these days when it comes to baby girls. I wanted the card to be a little frilly since it was a girl card so I added the eyelet border punch and the organdy ribbon. I also ran the littl close to cocoa piece through the big shot to give it some swirly texture. The Pink Pirouette DSP and the white layer of card stock are sponged on the edges with the Pink Pirouette ink. The elephant was edged with the Regal Rose marker before I stamped it but it is hard to see in the picture.
I have a new Class Kit to Go ready and will send that information out to my email list later today and post on my blog tomorrow. I hope you are having a good weekend.
Hey did you notice that I am a PRINCESS now? See the crown at the top of my side bar…
The girls that are on the next Blog Tour all have crowns! The tour will be in July for 3 days.
Happy Stampin’!
May 31, 2009 | Lifes a Breeze, Masking, Occasions Mini 2009, Stamps, Wild About You |
My share for today is one of those projects that covers several things that I wanted to accomplish this weekend. As it turned out I didn’t do any stamping yesterday – I cleaned the house, did laundry and then we went to a graduation party and then ended up at another party until late. So no stamping and no blog post for yesterday. Today I wanted to stamp and decided to combine my ideas. First the Late Night Stampers group had a weekly challenge to create a summer themed card. Then there is a new blog – stamping411.blogspot.com – with a weekly sketch challenge that I wanted to try. And I had an idea from a friend that I wanted to turn into something too. So combining those three things here is my card that I just finished:
A few weeks ago I met a new friend, Patty, that came to one of my classes and she came up with an idea to combine the float from the Life’s a Breeze stamp set with the Giraffe from the Wild About You stamp set but she didn’t know how to do that. “I can do that and what a great idea!” I told her. I used the “masking technique” to create the float by stamping the float first on a piece of Whisper White card stock and then on a piece of post -it note. I cut out the post-it note and stuck it on top of the one that I stamped on the card stock. Then stamp the giraffe image over it so the head is where you want it on the float – and the body and legs are on the post-it note. When you peel up the post-it note you end up with a giraffe float! I cut it out to add to my card. A trick for cutting out the center of the float is to first punch a hole in the center with a handheld punch and then use your paper snips to cut. I do this instead of trying to poke a hole with the tip of my scissors which always bends the card stock.
The dock-post is one slat from the wagon in the Wagon Full of Fun stamp set. It is watercolored (actually a left over from a different project.) I tied linen thread around the float – using a knot I learned as a girl at sailing camp – yes we took knot tying as part of camp which helped later on when I was a cub scout leader for my boys – I taught them all how to tie basic knots. And now I use some of those knots in my stamping projects!
Here is the complete list of supplies for this card:
- Pacific Point card stock and classic ink
- Pumpkin Pie card stock and classic ink
- Bashful Blue card stock and classic ink
- Whisper White card stock
- Life’s a Breeze stamp set
- Something Fishy jumbo wheel and handle
- Wild About you stamp set
- Wagon Full of Fun stamp set
- Linen Thread
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Aqua Painter
- Close to Cocoa classic ink
- Paper snips
I think I accomplished all three tasks – now I need to go add my entries in the appropriate places and I have one more that I’m trying to do today. I’ll be working on my newsletter – so look for that tomorrow if you are on my email list and the Last Chance list will be out tomorrow too – I’ll add that to my blog on the Last Chance page and send via email to my email list.
We are having a beautiful weekend and I hope you are too!
