Jun 7, 2011 | Baby Wipe, Cards, Masculine, Retired List, Techniques, UDI Color Challenge |
Hey guys! It’s Color Challenge Tuesday with the UDI girls. We are on week #39 and the inspiration picture was this exotic beach towel – don’t you just love the natural colors. I do! Sometimes I’m not excited about the colors that we have for our challenge but this week I thought it would be easy because I love to use the natural looking colors.

But much to my surprise I sat don’t with these four colors and couldn’t think of what to do with them. I was thinking something natural and floral like the inspiration picture but it just wasn’t’ coming together at all. So I pulled out my Last Chance Stamp set list and thought that I needed to use one of my sets that was on that list – give it a good farewell (I have a lot on that list so I better start now so I can get them all in before the end of June). Then I got a great idea and found the perfect thing to do with these colors. My stamp set of choice Extreme Skateboard – and what are these colors perfect for – camouflage! So here is my extreme skateboard camo card for this week’s color challenge.
The background is a really fun technique that I haven’t done in a while – it does get your fingers inky (at least mine end up that way) – so perhaps it would be worth it to wear some gloves to keep your fingers clean. First take a piece of Glossy White card stock and stamp your main image – the skateboarder – in Jet Black StazOn. Take a baby wipe and fold it up into quarters or so – then add drops of ink – I used the Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, and Always Artichoke – spread them a little apart. Then pick up the baby wipe and dab it on a piece of Glossy White card stock. Let it dry. I used two pieces for this card and all of it was done with just one baby wipe – I didn’t have to add any more ink so you could do multiple cards at a time. Now do watch out because the longer you wait the ink will bleed together on the baby wipe and depending on the colors you use will end up just looking muddy so don’t let it sit for too long before you use it.
To finish the card I distressed the edges of the layers and added some tearing and random staples trying to give it a rough look. I added the wide striped ribbon too – I maybe should have cut it or torn it or something. I hope you like it.

Jun 2, 2011 | Big Shot, Birthday, Cards, Retired List, Sale-A-Bration 2011, Summer Mini 2011 |
So far I feel like I’ve had a productive day. Got up and showered, got Ryan up and off to drum line practice, went to the post office, stopped by the bank, picked up dry cleaning, checked my email and the SU website. Now I’m writing my blog post and its still before 10. Maybe that’s a good sign that I’ll get lots done today. I have to get my Stamper’s Club Projects ready. I finally decided on the last project about midnight last night and went to bed. So today I’ll cut everything and have it ready. Tomorrow I’ll be gone all day with Tyler – we are headed to KSU for his orientation and hopefully by the time we leave he’ll be registered for Fall classes, have his ID and parking pass – that would make him officially a college student. They sure do grow up fast!
So enough about that let me show you this super cute little birthday card I made.
It is a little party hat card made from the Petal Cone Big Shot die. You cut your card stock with the Petal Cone die and trim off the two scallops and the little flap on the side. That gives you the triangle shaped hat. I cut a piece of the Celebrations Designer Series paper (it’s on the Last Chance list) to get just one of the triangles – trim off any extra from the petal cone shape. Then I punched the edge of a strip of Real Red card stock with the Scallop Border punch and added it to the base of the hat – trim the sides to match the hat.
To decorate I cut a number ‘5’ (choose whatever number you need) using the Big Shot and the Simple Numbers die. I tied a piece of the White Bakers Twine (in the Summer mini) around it and attached it to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. At the top of the hat I went with a Pacific Point button (from the Sale-A-Bration button set) – also tied with some White Baker’s Twine.
It is a cute little card. Do you want to make one? Then you should come to my Card Maker’s Club on June 29th. Everyone is welcome to come! We had a great time in May. There were 11 different card designs to choose from in May. For June I will be adding more and taking a couple of them away. You can choose to make the cards that you need out of what I have available. Your class fee of $15 includes 6 cards plus envelopes. I hope to see you there!
Have a great day and try to stay cool – we are supposed to be in the high 90s today.

Last Chance Definitely Decorative List
Jun 1, 2011 | Retired List |
Do you know what today is? It is June 1st. Why does that matter? Well in the world of Stampin’ Up! it is a big day – it’s one of those days where you stay up extra late or get up extra early. Why would we do that? Because as we prepare for a new catalog to start July 1st with lots of new goodies Stampin’ Up! has to get rid of lots of old goodies to make room for them. So we have our LAST CHANCE LISTS.

It’s your last chance to get the items on these lists and there are three categories – first the all important STAMPS – these you will be able to order all the way through June 30th. Second the exciting ACCESSORIES – these are while supplies last and include punches, Big Shot dies, Designer paper, ribbons, and more. And finally the DECOR ELEMENTS – these are also while supplies last. So if you have something on your have to have list and it falls into the category of Accessories or Decor Elements you may want to hurry and place the order online through my store – that will have the most accurate information on what is still available.
GO HERE to see them all and to go to my online store.
Some items are discounted up to 40% off – it varies based on inventory what is discounted and how much.
Let me know what you’d like to order.

Jun 26, 2010 | Designer Series Paper, Retired List |
This cute little nugget purse idea was one that was presented on stage at the Chattanooga half-day regional last year. I kept meaning to use this little project in a class but somehow it was always overlooked – until now. I used it for my Last Chance class and featured the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper which is one of the items on the last chance list.
In this photo I took out the two little Hershey nuggets so you could see them. They are wrapped in a piece of the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper and fit perfectly inside the little paper purse. The purse is finished on the front with one of the new Bitty Buttons from the Summer Mini catalog – these come in several shapes and the Itty Bitty Punch Pack has shapes to match. The purse stays shut with a tiny piece of Velcro.
These are nice little treats to give to anyone you need something for – just a thank you for doing a nice job or a little favor at a gathering of your girl friends. Each one turns out a little different when you use the designer paper with the various prints and colors.
Have a fun day today!

Jun 23, 2010 | Cards, Celebrate Everything, Game Night, Masculine, Retired List |
This is another card from my Last Chance class this month. I really like this Game Night stamp set and hate that it is on the Last Chance list – it is so very different from everything else and works great for both masculine cards and party invitations – things like Bunko, Pokeeno, Game Night. It is also a good set for scrapbooking. I have used this stamp set for many things.
The card base is Ruby Red (one of the retiring colors) – I used two strips of the Jackpot Designer Series Paper (the paper is retiring) on the left side and then added a piece of the Black Gingham ribbon (this ribbon is retiring).
On a piece of Whisper White card stock I stamped the game pieces one in Ruby Red and one in So Saffron. The domino was stamped in VersaMark ink and covered with Black Embossing Powder and heat set. All the pieces were cut out.
First stamp the chess piece in VersaMark on the card base – carefully cover with Black Embossing Powder and heat set. Then I stamped the CELEBRATE in VersaMark along the ribbon. Add the cut out pieces and then stamp “your day” underneath using VersaMark ink. These stamps are from the Celebrate Everything stamp set which is also on the Last Chance list. I did emboss on the envelope too so that I could have it match my card.
Our monthly pokeeno game night will be coming around again soon – maybe I need to come up with some little treats to bring everyone.
Thanks for the visit – have a great day!

Jun 22, 2010 | Cards, Retired List, SU Ribbon |
I saw a card like this somewhere but I’m not sure where anymore since it has been a while. I thought it was neat because they used the punch to create the holes in the front of the card and stamped the coordinating images so that you can see them through the holes when the card is closed. It sounds simple enough and looks simple enough – the first time I tried I had it lined up pretty close. But then I tried a 2nd time, and a 3rd and another and couldn’t for the life of me get those flowers lined up in those holes again. So I decided I had to figure out an easier way to do this. I didn’t want to use this card for my class if I couldn’t even line it up. After much thought I figured it out.
Now I know there are probably other ways to do this but this was my way.
First I took the three flower stamp from the One of a Kind stamp set (this one is retiring by the way) and lined up my wood block exactly with the corner of my card and stamped the flowers on the front. Then I used my punch and line it up with the flowers I just stamped and punched those out. Next I inked the flower stamp again and lined the wood block up on the inside corner of the card and stamped them on the inside. Ta-Da – the flowers are now matched up with the punched out holes on the front of the card. This worked for me and I was able to get it matched up every time I tried.
The rest of my Stampin’ Up! supplies are Bordering Blue card stock and ink (this is a retiring color), Night of Navy card stock and ink, Wide Oval Punch, Designer Label punch, Boho Blossoms punch, White Organza ribbon. Decorate the envelope to match. It is actually a very easy card to create once you figure out how to line up the flowers.
More last chance cards are coming later this week. Thanks for visiting me!
