Nov 8, 2009 | Big Shot, Christmas, Holiday Mini Catalog 2009, Punch Art, Stampin' Up! Events |
This is the cutest little reindeer swap that I got from Rhea Anderson at the Chattanooga Regional. She was a new friend that I met there – it was her first Stampin’ Up! event and she was so excited. This is a little pouch that folds over – on the inside is a slot cut with the modern label punch that she had a piece of candy stuck inside. She used some ribbon to make a handle so it is like a mini little purse.
The punch art reindeer is the cutest. He has a red shiny nose – use crystal effects to get it to shine. And the whole pouch is covered with the shimmery sparkles from the new Shimmer Paint in the Holiday mini. I don’t think it really shows in person but it does in real life. It is just covered in shimmer!
Can you guess how the antlers were created? It is one of our Big Shot Dies – it is the Stampin’ Up! Tulipe Bigz die – she just cut a piece off the die cut image and used it for the antlers – very clever and looks perfect don’t you think?
Thanks Rhea for sharing your creativity with me at the regional and joining us at our table – we enjoyed the day with you!
If you missed my Holiday Card class the other week – you are in luck, I am going to have one more class on Thursday, November 19th at 10:00 AM only (not night class – sorry). I’ll add it to my website calendar and be sending out an email to my email list. This coming Friday I’m having a Holiday BIG SHOT class! We will be making projects using the Big Shot – it should be lots of fun – an email will be coming out for that too.
I had a busy weekend – it was Wendy’s Gift Giving Extravaganza weekend – Wendy is my upline and each year she creates about a dozen projects and opens her house up for all day Friday and Saturday for everyone to come make gifts for the holidays. I hope one year to have something similar but for now I just attend hers. Everyone chooses the projects they want to make and I made three different ones this year. So Friday morning/afternoon I was stamping at Wendy’s house. Then Friday night I had my Stamper’s Club meeting – it was a lot of fun and we made some great projects there including a gift idea which I’ll be sharing later this week. Saturday morning I took Ryan to his soccer game and then went back to Wendy’s house in the afternoon. The best part about going to Wendy’s for this event is that her husband cooks for us! Home made soups and rolls, deserts and more – the food is great – I’m not sure I can get Greg to do that for me. Today I’ve been working on the school years scrapbook pages and tonight we went to dinner with Greg’s brother and mom and just got back. It feels like its after 9 but it was only 7 when we got home. The time change has it dark so early now.
Enjoy what’s left of the day!
Oh – one more thing – someone asked me a question about one of the projects I posted recently and I tried to email a reply but it came back with a bad email. So can you send me the question again with a different email. I forgot which project so if I didn’t reply to you then email me again. Thanks.

This is Clarice the Reindeer. Isn’t she cute? I just noticed that she is missing an eyelash. She had a bit of a rough ride back from Virginia. This is another project I got to make while I was away. It was designed by Heather Summers as part of her Simply Holidays class.
On my return trip from Virginia, Stephanie dropped me off at the airport in what we though was plenty of time (at my Atlanta airport it would have been). But I got to the security line and it was a line with only 2 people checking so we stood, and stood and stood and more people kept coming. They finally added another couple of people but by this time I was really getting concerned that I would be late because I still had to take the little bus thing to the actual terminal. I haven’t been in this airport in a long time so I was a bit unsure of where I was going. Finally it is my turn at security – one bag through, my second bag with all my stamped creations, stamps, catalog – all the important stuff – gets stopped and studied – not a good sign. It comes out and the lady grabs it and says “who’s bag is this” – now this really isn’t good – what could be wrong – I don’t have anything in there. So I have to go with her to the table and she opens the bag – out pops my little Clarice – and the lady kind of looks at it, and then I have cards, and a box (with 4 brads in the lid – metal), and an empty little mini bottle (apparently that was one of the problems- but it was empty and didn’t even have a lid on it) with a pretty tag (I’ll be showing that later as it is a future class project) – and she keeps pulling stuff out and touching it all, and my GoGo Boots alphabet Sizzlet dies (I guess they do have metal in them too – but they are so thin – and I certainly can’t hurt anyone with them). So I pipe up real quick – “oh, I made that, and that too, and the tag, and that too, and they are stamps and its made out of paper, and, and,…..”) And I’m thinking please hurry I’m going to miss my flight. But now she wants to see everything I made and I think she no longer thinks there is a problem she just wants to see it and touch it. Finally she says – “Ok you can go, you are very talented, I’ll let you put it all back in, just go on now…” – I frantically try to get it all back in – I had it so nice so it wouldn’t get messed up – but not anymore. I rush through to find the bus thing and get to the right terminal. I got to the gate as they started boarding my flight. What a relief – got my seat, sat next to a nice lady that lived in SC and we talked for the entire flight! So anyway Clarice lost an eyelash and one ear was missing by the time we got home.
This is a triangle box – it is actually the same box that I made back at Valentine’s and filled with candy. It is a great box because you don’t need any adhesive to hold it shut – the ribbon hold it shut (the one by the nose). Heather had 2 other holiday designs that I have yet to make – but I will – I do a lot of things in three’s because I have three boys and that way each can have a different one. It is all Stampin’ Up! supplies and doesn’t even have any stamping on it. I did do some sponging though so I did use ink and punches of course.
It is almost time for stamp club so I’m going to go for now.
Have a great weekend!

You know how sometimes you are working on projects and then you look down at the mess you have on you table and something pops out at you and says “hey, look at me, don’t I look like _________”. It varies on the day what might pop into your head at the time. Well while I was up at Stephanie’s and we were working in the craft room whatever I was doing just wasn’t coming out like I wanted but in the process I had this pile on the table and I looked at it and thought – “hmm, those look just like gum drops” – ok so maybe I just wanted something sweet at the time but I put forth my best effort to turn them into gum drops and create a card.
So it turned out to be a rather silly card….
The “Gum Drops” are the Scallop Oval punch punched with a circle to create the rounded bottom. I covered them with VersaMark ink and Irridescant Ice Embossing Powder and heat set them. I think I need a variety of colors but what was on the table were all the red pieces.
Then what to do with all the gum drops – I stacked them various ways and I think because they were all the same color nothing really looked right. So I just stacked them one on top of the other and thought about the penguin in Punch Pals. They would be funny standing on each other’s heads – they are playing with the gum drops and building towers……
So it’s a bit silly but hey – if you ever need gum drops for anything now you know how to make them with your punches!

Oct 31, 2009 | Big Shot, Designer Series Paper, Punch Art, Scrapbook Pages |
Halloween is here and it is certainly a dreary day around here. Right now the rain has stopped and this little break is supposed to last until trick-or-treating is done and then rain again late tonight.
Today I’m going to share the Halloween Scrapbook page we made in my class last week.

I used the Eat, Drink & Be Scary stamp set and the little saying on the spider “happy fright night to you” was what inspired the title. The title was cut with the Big Shot and the GoGo Boots Alphabet dies.
The Designer Series Paper is the Cast-a-Spell paper. The scallop circle accents are the dies for the Big Shot.
The witch is Punch Art! My table was covered in punches for this project. The witch design came from the Holiday Punches online class that Heather Summers had a couple of months ago. She makes some very creative creations and you’ll see some more showing up in my projects from time to time. In her class she did Halloween, Fall, and Christmas punch art.
This little witch is done with Old Olive, Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery, Basic Black, and Going Gray.
I also used the Little Boo stamp from the Under $10 section of the catalog – it is such a cute little stamp and fits perfectly in our circle punches.
Have a Happy Halloween! Be safe!

It’s the final project from my Treat Class and this one was one of the favorites from everyone that came.
I’ll be making a flock of these for Thanksgiving this year to use on our table. This project uses the Big Shot and some punches.
This idea originated from a demo that made Big Shot boxes for each month of the year and took them to a Stampin’ Up! event to share with everyone. Stampin’ Up! liked the idea so much they posted it on our Demonstrator website for all of us to see and use. I made a few slight changes from the original project. She used the Bag w/scallops dies and has the full circle on the front and back of the box – so it is taller than my version.
My version has the Box #2 die as the inside of the container – the top flaps were cut off so it is an open box. It is large enough to hold a cello bag filled with a cookie, or trail mix, or popcorn or an assortment of candy. Then I cut two Chocolate Chip Scallop Circles. I placed these on my box so that where the bottom of the box was is covered all the way across by the scallop circle – here I marked and then scored in between the scallops. Once you get one done then you can use it as a template to mark the rest. The scallop circle is attached with sticky strip to the outside of the box – the scored flap is folded under and sticky strip holds it to the bottom. This give the bottom of the box more support if yo were putting something heavier inside. If you don’t like that then just cut the scallop circle off at the bottom of the box.
To make the tail feathers cut a Scallop Circle die on the Big Shot – one in Pumpkin Pie, one in More Mustard and one in Old Olive. Fold them in half and cut from the center of the circle out to in between the scallops. You need two Pumpkin pie pieces that have four scallops, two More Mustard pieces with four scallops and one Old Olive piece with four scallops. Then fold the Pumpkin Pie and More Mustard ones in half. For the Old Olive fold in one scallop from each side. I used the bone folder to crease them all good. Then use snail and attach to the front of the box – lining them up with the Chocolate Chip scallops. Start in the center with the Old Olive. Then add More Mustard on each side – I have the fold on the outside. Then add the Pumpkin Pie pieces on each side – again with the fold on the outside.
Since my Turkey box was smaller I made my turkey smaller than the original one was. I used the 1-3/4″ circle punch for the body and a 1″ circle punch for the head. Black eyes are punched with the Crop-A-Dile and highlighted with a white gel pen. The feet are the large flower form the BoHo Blossoms punch – cut a piece with 3 petals for each foot. The nose is also from the largest flower on the BoHo Blossoms punch – one petal. The waddle is the smallest flower – cut away 3 petals on one side and then 2 on the other and it leaves you with the waddle shape. I use my 2-way glue pen when I do punch art and usually a pair of fine tipped craft tweezers are the best thing – the kind with the reverse handle so when you aren’t holding it it holds the piece and when you press the handles together it let’s go. I have found these to be very helpful when working with tiny pieces in punch art. Once the turkey is all together I stuck him on the front of the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
It is a fun little box and once you make one the rest going much faster. Using a combination of various Big Shot boxes, other dies and punches you can create a box for every month of the year. I love my Big Shot – if you don’t have one make sure to put it on your wish list and let your family know to give me a call or send them to my website so they can order it for you. And remember if you order it from me I’ll decorate your Big Shot for you too! Here is a look at mine:
I decorated mine shortly after I got it more than a year ago. And I personally decorated all the ones that I have sold so far. I have been using various Rub-Ons so everyone has their very own unique Big Shot once it is decorated.
Thanks for stopping by today!

This is a cute little treat holder project that I saw at Convention this year. I don’t know who originally created it – someone swapped for it and let me take a picture.
If you happen to know who that is please leave me a comment so I can add the information here.
I created my version based on the photo that I had. This would be project #3 from my Treat Class. You can almost make the whole thing from scraps of card stock which is something I always like to use up. I did cut a piece for the main holder. It is just scored to fit the depth of a Hershey’s nugget candy. I made one major change to my project because I wanted to create an all SU project and the one at convention used a pipe cleaner and pom-pom for the tail – I changed the tail. I was really happy with the way my little tail turned out.
It is grosgrain ribbon and I used the Trio Flower Punch. I punched 6 flowers out and then punched small holes in the center and strung them on the ribbon. Tied a knot at the end. Pulled it through the back of the body and tied another knot. The little flowers are just kind of bunched together all wrinkled up to look like a poofy tail. I was very pleased with how it looked!
The colors for the lion are More Mustard and Chocolate Chip and a little bit of Pretty in Pink for his tongue. I did sponge around his face, cheeks and ears with Chocolate Chip ink.
Isn’t he the cutest thing?
The nugget holder idea has been around for many years – I know I saw it when I first signed up as a Demonstrator. Just change the image on the front to be whatever you need – use punch art or use a stamped image to say “Thank you” or anything else you need.
Punch Art always takes longer because of the little pieces and assembling them together but the end result is always so cute. I have lots of punch art projects and I have been taking part in some online classes called Simply Punches – right now I’m in the middle of a holiday class so I need to make some of those and share them with you too.
So for my treat class – I think I have now shown three projects and I have three more to go. Yes we made 6 all together and I could have gone on an on with other ideas. It was hard to stop. It ended up being a really long class but everyone enjoyed it and had a great time!
Happy Punchin’!
