Sew Suite Mini Scrapbook

Look at this cute mini scrapbook using the Sew Suite product line from the Stampin’ Up! Mini catalog.  This was a project that the fabulous Bonnie Thurber showed on stage at the Leadership Conference.  I sent Bonnie a message asking if she could give me the dimensions and she did!  So I was able to recreate it and used it as a Make&Take project at my downline meeting this month.  So here are the details for this little project. There are 4 pages that are glued to an accordion folded spine that creates the top where the chipboard letters are glued on to.  The spine and all the pages are Early Espresso card stock.  To create the spine you need a piece that is 8″ x 5-1/2″ then score it at every 1″ to create the accordion – so that is 1″, 2″, 3″, 4″, 5″, 6″, and 7″.  Fold that into an accordion.  I’ll come back to how to finish the spine at the end.  Now I’ll show you each page from the bottom up –

So here is the back page – cut the Early Espresso to be 6″ tall by 5-1/2″ wide.  Cut a piece of the Sew Suite Designer Series paper to be 5-3/4″ tall by 5-1/4″ wide and glue it to the back page.  Take the back page and glue it to the back flap of the accordion fold.  Here is the next page

For this page cut the Early Espresso to be 5″ tall and 3-3/4″ wide.  Cut the Sew Suite Designer Series paper to be 4-3/4″ tall and 3-1/2″ wide.  Attach this page to the next step on the accordion towards the left side.  On this page there is a flower – it is the Flower Fusion Sizzlet cut from Tangerine Tango.  The center is one of the buttons from the Button Embosslit cut from Daffodil Delight.  I’ll tell you how I did the words in a minute.  Ok next page –

This one cut the Early Espresso to be 4-1/4″ tall by 3-1/2″ wide.  Cut the Sew Suite Designer Series Paper to be 4″ tall by 3-1/4″ wide.  Attach this page on the next step of the accordion toward the right side.  For this page wrap a piece of Linen Thread around it and tie on one of the Sew Suite Big Designer Buttons.  Then add some of the buttons cut with the embosslit from Tangerine Tango card stock.  And the next one –

This page cut the Early Espresso to 2-1/2″ tall by 4″ wide.  Cut the Sew Suite Designer paper to 2-1/4″ tall by 3-3/4″ wide.  Attach to the next step of the accordion centered over the other pages.  Now to finish up the front of the accordion –

Cut a piece of Sew Suite Designer paper to be 5-1/2″ wide and 2-1/4″ tall – then score at 1″ from each side – leaving 1/4″ in between – this piece will wrap around the spine – glue it to the back of the spine and then to the front.  Cut a 5-1/2″ piece of Tangerine Tango card stock and punch it with the border punch Dotted Scallop Ribbon.  Glue this under the front flap of the scrap book.  I used a piece of On Board Chipboard and cut the letters using the Big Shot and the Simple Letters die set.  Cover the letters with Early Espresso Craft ink using a sponge dauber.  Well I should have told you this part first – I would recommend cutting out the letters putting the ink on them and set them aside to dry while you do everything else.  You can use the green bottle glue or crystal effects to glue those to the front flap.

Now the words – Bonnie used the stamp set Fabulous Phrases for her example (and she used precut chipboard letters from one of the packs in the catalog).  I don’t have that stamp set so I thought  – hey I can use it in My Digital Studio and print them out – well the stamp set isn’t yet available in MDS either – so instead I chose a font that I thought was similar and just add text boxes in MDS.  To make sure I had the size close I added a Word Window punch in MDS to see that my words would fit.  I printed out a sheet of words on Whisper White card stock.  We punched them out with the Word Window punch and layered them on a Modern label punched out of Tempting Turquoise.

Now I just need to add pictures and it will be done.  How cute is that?

Is today’s Bingo piece going to be the one that makes you the winner?  Here it is……

Have a great day today!

Pin Cushion Button Jar

Look at this cute project!  It is a pin cushion top on a button jar.  The jars are short wide mouth jars that I was able to purchase as part of a bulk buy group.

The project idea is from Stampin’ Up! – it is one of the projects shown in their Fabric projects pdf that you can find on the Stampin’ Up! website – click here.

I pretty much followed the instructions.  I cut a 6×6 inch piece of the button print out of the Sweet Stitches Designer Fabric collection.  Then cut three layers of batting using the Big Shot and the 3″ Circle Die.  Also trace the lid onto a piece of thin cardboard and cut out – it should be just bigger than the 3″ circles.

I glued the 3 layers of batting to the card board and then covered the whole thing with the fabric.  I used a hot glue gun to attach all the fabric to the bottom of the card board piece and then I fit it into the ring.  I glued the jar lid on the bottom of the card board – so that it covers all the ends of the fabric and make it looked more finished.

I finished the jar by adding ribbon around the lid and the little jewelry tag punch with “hand crafted” from the Tiny Tags stamp set.  Fill the jar with buttons and add some straight pins in the top.  The buttons in my jar are Sweet Stitches Designer Big Buttons also in the Stampin’ Up! occasions mini catalog.  The buttons and the fabric are part of the Sew Suite Collection which also includes stamps, designer paper, and more.

I heard some of the Spring Bingo players are getting close to Bingo!  Maybe today is the day – will you be the winner?  Here is the next piece.

Have a wonderful rest of today!

Cupcake Kit

I saw this really fun project idea HERE at Becky Roberts blog.  She is amazingly creative with lots of fun ideas.  I took her cake mix kit and used it for my Stamper’s Club project this month.  I had to change pretty much all the measurements because I used a different brand of cake mix – she tells you that in her instructions that her measurements are for a specific brand.

I’m calling mine a cupcake kit because I included cupcake picks in the front pocket.  The Celebrations DSP was perfect for this project and so was the Create a Cupcake stamp set and the Build a Cupcake punch!  Both are in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog.

In the first picture you can see in the back section of the box is the cake mix.  When you open up the front flap of the box on the inside you will find two tubes filled with sprinkles.

Inside the front pocket I added some candles (my picture only has 2 – I included 3 for the club – that was because that was all I had in the house when I made the sample).

Inside a medium cello bag are some cupcake picks made with the Create a Cupcake stamp set.

And then to finish off the set we decorated a tub of frosting – you have to have that.

Here are the next two pieces for my Spring Bingo players.  I know several people have three in a row – I’m not sure if anyone has 4 in a row yet – maybe after today.

Have a fun day!  I almost forgot it was St. Patrick’s Day.  I better go put on something green – I probably should have reminded the boys of that before they went to school – oh well.

Luckily one of the bingo pieces is green – at least my blog has some green!

Nature Walk

When the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog first came out there was one stamp set that I just loved.  Can you guess which one?

It is the Nature Walk stamp set – and I got the wood version because I think it is so pretty that I can just set the stamps out on a shelf for decoration if I want to.  I have been using the set but I’m not sure if I have shared any on my blog.  Today I have a card that is similar to one that we saw at Leadership.  It was a card that Shelli showed us on stage – I think hers was possibly a 3×3 card – mine is actually a 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card.  I have been making this size card lately and like that it is a square but it still fits in our medium sized envelopes.

The card base is Cherry Cobbler.  There is a strip of Basic Black that was textured with the Square Lattice textured embossing folder.

The scallop circle is a Big Shot die cut from White Naturals card stock.  Then the Nature Walk stamp set is sort of stamped as a collage on the scallop circle.  The bird cage in Crumb Cake, the floral in Always Artichoke, the bee in Basic Black, the number in Cherry Cobbler.  I added a thank you greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes but you could use this for many different things.

The inside is stamped to match.  On both pieces I used the Color Spritzer with the Stampin’ Write marker to add some more speckles.  At the top of the scallop I punched two holes and threaded a piece of Linen Thread through it – then I created a cheater bow – I’ll have to try to find the blog that I saw this on – basically you take your ribbon and hold it like the cancer ribbon with the loop at the top and the ends crossed.  Then you take the center of the loop and bring it down to the crossed part.  Take and place that in between the Linen Thread and then tie the thread around it until it is tight – adjust the loops and tails to get the bow you want.

There is been some bird activity around my bird houses.  Here are a couple of pictures of House #1 – one is a tufted titmouse from a couple of days ago and the other the female bluebird from last week.

Tufted Titmouse

House #2 and #3 have also had some visitors.

Bluebird

And I’ve even had some lookers at the Woodpecker house – that is exciting because it is new – I didn’t have it last spring.

There is also a new house that my friend Sue gave me – it looks like a cat and the birds go in and out through the mouth.  I haven’t seen any birds near it yet.  The dogs do check it out occasionally making sure it isn’t a real cat hanging there.

Spring Bingo players – is anyone getting close – any three or four in a row – or is there a 5 in a row winner today?

Here are the next two pieces –

Have a great day!

Spring Butterfly Fancy Favor Box

The other night I had my neighborhood friends over for Pokeeno and I wanted to give everyone a little treat.  So part of my Garden/Spring theme I created little boxes which decorated the table and then everyone took one home.

This little box idea is from the Stampin’ Success magazine – all Stampin’ Up! demonstrators receive this magazine monthly and it has stamping ideas, product tips, business tips and more.  I love getting it every month.  The April issue is due out any day now.  And the other awesome thing is that Stampin’ Up! has archives online for us back to 2003 and there are lots of online extras including project instructions.  I made slight changes to the box that they showed us in the magazine – but kept the basic theme, layout and colors about the same.

The box is the Fancy Favor box cut from Pretty in Pink card stock – the top is sponged with Melon Mambo ink.  I cut a 1″ strip of the First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper from the Occasions mini catalog – scored every 1/4″ and accordion fold – glue the two ends together and then turn it flat to create a circle – which I glued to the front of my box.  I used the green bottle of Multipurpose Adhesive which I held for a minute so it would set.

On top of that is my butterfly focal point.  I cut two So Saffron butterflies using the Big Shot and the Beautiful Butterflies die.  Each is stamped with the flourish from the Bliss Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  The edges of the top butterfly are also sponged.  I layered the two butterflies together and on top of a Pear Pizzazz 1″ circle and then on top of the butterflies is a Baja Breeze little flower punch from the Punch Pals pack.  I tied a piece of Linen Thread around the center and tied in a knot and trim – there are holes poked through the circle and the thread goes all the way through to the back of the little circle.  I glued the butterflies to the front of the box on top of the DSP.

I filled them with shredded tissue and candy (chocolate of course).

For those of you that are wondering about the birds that I usually post about in the spring.  Well they are a bit slow coming to my yard this year.  I think because of the construction/workers that were here from mid January through the first of March.  Either that or the weather is different this year.  This week I am starting to see activity around the bird houses – the birds are looking in but so far no nest building has started.  I even saw a woodpecker take a peek into the new woodpecker house that I have added for this year.  Crossing fingers that we’ll have some nests soon!

Spring Bingo players here come your next two pieces.  Have a great weekend – I’m having a PAWS Demonstrator  meeting this weekend and looking forward to getting together with all my demonstrator team members and friends.

Not Quite Navy Bliss Butterfly

Yesterday I told you about all the great ideas that other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators share.  My card today came from one that I saw on Stampin’ Connection (a demonstrator only online community) – the original was created by Christy Galang.

The front panel on the card is Very Vanilla that was embossed with the Tulip Embossing Folder and the Big Shot. In the very center I stamped the large flourish image from the Sale-A-Bration Bliss stamp set using Not Quite Navy ink.  The butterflies are cut using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die and the Big Shot.  One is cut from Blueberry Crisp Designer Series paper – the edges are stamped with the little swirls on the edges of the bliss stamp in the set.  The smaller butterfly is Very Vanilla and then stamped with the large flourish.  The butterflies are layered and add to the center of the card.  In the very center of the butterfly is a pearl – if you look closely the pearl is blue – on this particular sample I colored the pearl with a Night of Navy Stampin’ Write marker and let it dry for a while, then wiped it off and let it dry overnight – this gave it a very light blue tint.  I made some darker ones by coloring with the marker then covering the pearl with Clear Embossing Powder and heat setting it.

I put my card on a Not Quite Navy card base so I created an inside panel to match.

And added a greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set to finish.  We made this card in my Towne Lake Card Club and everyone was able to choose what they wanted to use the card for.  Teeny Tiny Wishes has ended up being one of my most used stamp sets since it has so many greetings in and covers all different occasions.  It is perfect to use in a class because everyone can choose what they need.

I watched American Idol this morning – I had my neighborhood friends over last night to play Pokeeno – so I had to record it and watch this morning.  I wonder what everyone thought.  I think as a group the boys are stronger than the girls but I was having a hard time deciding who would be the one to go tonight – I’m assuming they are eliminating only 1 person but I’m not sure.  I think my least favorite was Ashton.  The best for me include Casey, Jacob, James, Pia and Scotty.  Some of them just didn’t choose the best song.  I guess we’ll find out tonight what happens.

And on to Monika’s Spring Bingo – we actually played this for Pokeeno last night instead of the traditional pokeeno cards.  We all had fun doing something a bit different – I had a garden themed night – so the gifts were garden themed which was fun.  I had decorations and made little boxes that I’ll share in a later post.  So for my bingo players I’ve decide for the next several days I’m going to call two pieces at a time.  So mark your cards and let me know when you have a Bingo.  Here are the pieces for today.
