Big Shot Mini Envelope Scrapbook

I saw this cute mini scrapbook project on Heather Summer’s Blog and Carrie Gaskin’s Blog and decided to create one for my April Hands-On class.  I wanted to use the Sweet Stitches Designer Series Paper for my version.  I think this would be great for a Mother’s Day gift.

The mini scrapbook has three pockets created from the Scallop Envelope Bigz Die and the Big Shot machine.  For each pocket I cut one envelope from the Designer Series Paper and one from a coordinating color of card stock.  Do not fold the envelopes, instead you want to glue them together.  What I did was cut the side flaps (or wings) off of the card stock envelope and then place the designer paper on top of the card stock and glue the side flaps to the back.  I also put some glue on the bottom below the score line.  On the DSP fold down and secure the scallop flap and that creates a pocket.  I made three of these – and on the back one I glued a second piece of DSP just to create a finished look on the back of the scrapbook.   Lay the three pockets on top of each other and use the crop-a-dile to punch to holes in the bottom and tie ribbon through to hold them all together.  To decorate the front I added some pom-pom trim, a scrunchy flower made from the designer paper and the coordinating fabric covered brads.  And I added a label made from the Bold Blossom stamp set.  “Thank you for being you” is such a nice little saying that makes this mini scrapbook versatile enough to use for a variety of occasions – Mother’s Day is just one idea.

Inside each pocket I added a piece of Whisper White card stock with a circle tab at the top – each stamped with images from the Bold Blossom stamp set.  Write a little note or add a picture to each pocket.  And the great thing about this project is it actually fits in our Medium envelope so you can even pop it in the mail if you need to (you may have to flatten out your flower a bit though).

The Sweet Stitches Designer Series paper, Pom Pom trim, and Fabric Covered Brads are all in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini catalog which ends this month.  Hurry and order today before they are gone.  The Bold Blossom stamp set is also in the Occasions Mini catalog but it was included in the Summer Mini catalog which should be in your mailbox any day now.  Sales from that mini will start on May 1st.

You can place an order online at any time on my website – www.monika.stampinup.net

Have fun and make yourself a cute little project this afternoon.

My Digital Studio Hybird Owl Card

Owl’s are all the rage but they are also the school mascot for my KSU Card club.  So last week when we had our monthly club meeting I wanted to make a fun owl card for them.  I decided to use My Digital Studio and have them make a hybrid card.  What is a hybrid card?  It is when you combine digital elements with traditional elements to create your card.  I was really happy with how cute this card turned out.

Isn’t he cute?  The big owl is the digital part.  I used My Digital Studio with the following Digital Downloads –

– Two-Step Owl Punch

– Botanical Gazette Designer Series paper

The fun thing about My Digital Studio is that I was able to take the different elements from the Owl punch and make them larger.  I made them large enough that the took up the whole front of the card.  I filled the different punch pieces with designer series paper or card stock.  The eyes are all “popped up” by adding drop shadows – same with the heart.  I created the owls on an 8-1/2 x 11 album page and put four on a page.  Here is what it looks like.

With four owls to a page I printed them on Whisper White card stock.  Then cut out the owls to make the cards.  Each card is on a So Saffron card base that was stamped with the Sanded background stamp inked in So Saffron ink.  The cut out owl is put on the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Next I used the heart shaped Bitty Button – added some Linen Thread tied in a bow – and put it on top of the heart on the owl using a Mini Glue Dot.  I love the little heart button.

I used the Family Phrases stamp set to add a greeting on the owl.  My sample has Happy Birthday stamped on it.  But the girls at the class could choose what they wanted. I think the cutest one was actually the “Love You Much” stamp.

The third class in my MDS class series will include this as a make&take project.  This class will be in May and we will explore how to use MDS to create hybrid projects and for making cards.

I’m having lots of fun creating with My Digital Studio and love the idea of hybrid projects  – it opens up a lot of possibilities!

Have a great week and create something fun!

Another Vintage Card

I have another Vintage card to share today.  This idea is one that I found on Stampin’ Connection – an idea from Regina Cornelius.  I love the Love Letters Designer Series paper and it works perfectly for vintage.  So when I saw Regina’s card I knew I had to make one too because I love the colors.  I have also been wanting to try out the Distressing Essentials kit from the catalog – I can’t believe I have waited this long to try it out.  So here is my version of the card.

The dress form from the Sew Suite stamp set in the Occasions Mini catalog is stamped onto the Very Vanilla card stock and then stamped again on different pieces of Designer Series paper from the Love Letters pack.  These were cut out and layered on top of the others so each form looks like it has a dress on it.  The edges of the paper were crumpled and then distressed using the Tea Stain spot and the square stamp that comes in the Distressing Essentials kit.  The one dress has a little piece of Chantilly Lace attached with mini glue dots to create a pleated skirt look.  Some rhinestones were added to each dress too.  I think Regina’s card was great and I hope you like my version too.

Have a great day!

Sew Suite and another winner

I wanted to make a card using the Sew Suite stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog – but I was having trouble coming up with ideas.  So instead I turned to my fellow demonstrators for inspiration.  Checking Stampin’ Connection and looking through blogs until I found some ideas that caught my eye.  This card today is an idea from Heather Klump.  I liked the softness of her card.  Here is mine –

I made a few minor changes from what the original card but the look is basically the same.

My Spring Bingo players – I found one more winner after yesterday’s post.  It was Bethany.

Congratulations!

Bethany will get the Birthday Bakery stamp set.

That’s four winners so far.  How about one more?

So how about one more piece today and we’ll see if that gets us the last winner….

If more than one person gets Bingo it will be the first person that sends me the email that gets the last prize.  So be sure to check your cards and email me right away if you have Bingo.  Good Luck!

Exciting news – I am registered for the Stampin’ Up! Convention in July!  Early Bird registration opened today and I got on first thing and completed my registration.  I have my flight and hotel room.  I’m so excited to be going!  And this year I’ll get to walk across the stage (assuming they continue that tradition – I sure hope so) for my 5th anniversary – yeah!  And I’m going to work hard these next few months so maybe I can walk across for my annual sales too!   I can’t wait to see my demonstrator friends in Utah!

April is here!

Can you believe it is already April?  Wow – two months and Tyler will graduate high school.  I just can’t believe it – weren’t they all little just last week.  Do they really grow up so fast?  Tyler can’t wait to get to college and be “on his own”.  I think really he just wants to be away from the rest of us so he doesn’t hear “go to bed”, “do your homework”, “get up”, “clean your room” and according to him the millions of questions I always ask.  I told him yesterday if he would just have a conversation and tell me something I wouldn’t have to ask all the questions.

Today there are tons of updates on our Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Website so I thought I would use this post to share the new specials with you.  Let’s see where to start.

Sweet Summer meets Ice Cream buttons

I saw the cutest card on Heather Summers blog and knew I had to make something like it.  I decided to use it as one of my projects for the Towne Lake Card club that met Thursday night.

The card base is Daffodil Delight and then a layer of Old Olive card stock.  At the bottom edge is a strip of Daffodil Delight that was punched with the Ribbon border punch.  I decided to use the Ice Cream Parlor buttons which are Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Pacific Point.  The Designer paper is from two packs – the Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight are from the Sew Suite Designer Series paper.  The Pacific Point is from the Blueberry Crisp Designer Series paper.  The stamp set for the flower stems is the Sweet Summer Sale-A-Bration set – the stems are stamped in Old Olive and then watercolor the leaves with an Aqua-painter and Old Olive ink.

This is a bright cheery fun card.  We added a greeting on the inside from the So Happy for You stamp set.  We are in the last week of Sale-A-Bration and after it ends these fun stamp sets and products will be gone.  So hurry and place a $50 product order so you can get one free.  Choose from So Happy for You stamp set, Punch Bunch stamp set, Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper & Quick Accents pack, Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon & Button pack, So Much to Sale-A-Brate Digital Content CD, Sweet Summer stamp set, Notes Chalkboard Decor Elements, Bliss stamp set or one of many stamp sets from the Idea Book & Catalog.  So many fun choices!

You can also join Stampin’ Up! by becoming a demonstrator during Sale-A-Bration and get 15% off your Starter Kit.  Plus, get a bonus bundle filled with over $50 in free products.  It’s a great offer!  Contact me today if you want to learn more.

There’s another Spring Bingo Winner!  The second winner is Yvonne.  Congratulations!

Yvonne wins the So Cute stamp set from the Idea Book & Catalog.

That’s two winners found and three more to go – will the next one be you?  Check your cards every day.  Here is the next piece.

Have a fun weekend! Tonight is the prom for the boys high school and Tyler is going with one of his friend Afton.  I took Kyle back to GA Tech earlier today and then picked up the flowers for the prom.  Unfortunately it is a rainy day in Georgia and any prom pictures we take of them will have to be indoors.
