I’m home from Alaska and have a Zoo Babies card

I’m finally home again and will get back on schedule posting to my blog.  Greg and I took a 2 week trip to Alaska to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.  I’ve been saving money since I became a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and used that savings to pay for this trip.  It was an incredible vacation!  We were on a Cruisetour with Royal Caribbean Cruise lines – the first portion of our trip was a land tour and the second part was a 7 night cruise.  We loved it all!

I’m working on downloading all my photos and videos – I had 2 cameras – my small pink one which also takes video and then my big cannon rebel with the big lens – plus I took some on my iphone.  I had hoped to post pictures from my iphone to my personal FB page throughout our trip but guess what my cell phone did not work in Alaska.  I was only able to connect to the internet a few times when we were at one of the hotels during the first part of the trip.  But we were on the move so we weren’t at any of the hotels for very long.  And sometimes the weather impacted the service anyway. So my posting was very minimal.  I did manage to post a few times here to my blog using the app on my phone.  if you’d like to hear about our trip I think I’ll write and post some about that in between my Stampin’ up! project posts.

The first card from the pink camera has 785 photos/videos on it.  Then I have more to get to.  So while all my photos are downloading let me move on and show you a card that I made last month.

Zoo-babies

I don’t think i’ve shared this one with you yet. This one uses the Zoo Babies stamp set.  I just love this set.  The little animals are so cute.  And I got this idea that I was going to have a card with this stamp set at my monthly card class every month.  I added this one to my August Class and it will also be available as a card option in September’s class too.

zoo-babies2I wanted to create a birthday card rather than a baby card so I paired it with some Designer Paper and the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set.  I thought it turned out to be a fun card!

Benefits of Crafting

Each month I have a Card Maker’s Class and the next one is this Wednesday – January 29th.  I have a morning session and an evening session.  This is a fun flexible class for any level of stamper.  You get to choose which cards you make based on what you need.  And if you are new to stamping I’ll point you towards the easier ones and show you exactly how to make them.  It’s easy and fun  and great therapy for everyone – so if you live nearby I hope you will join me.

This month I’ll have some Valentine choices for you – like this one –

happy-heart-day

I know everyone has a busy life and lots going on but take a couple of hours to make some cards that you can send to brighten someone’s day. Did you know that there are real therapeutic benefits to crafting?

  • Strengthening of social skills  – being able to connect and interact with others, share ideas and talk can have a huge impact on happiness
  • Relaxation and Stress relief – allowing your mind to focus on the activity reduces stress levels and is beneficial to everyone young and old
  • Feelings of fulfillment – there is huge feeling of accomplishment when you create something you can proudly display or give to others

from http://blog.jeanhansen.com/three-therapeutic-benefits-of-creating-art-and-crafting/

There are many other reasons to spend time crafting and I hear often from others on how it benefits them.  Join me at a stamping class – you can see my full class schedule HERE.

7 dwarfs

This really doesn’t have anything to do with the 7 dwarfs – but that is what keeps going through my head – Sleepy, Grumpy, Sneezy, Dopey, Weepy – but that is how i have been feeling the last few days and I need to find Doc so I can be Happy – well I sort of made up Weepy – #7 is really Bashful which just didn’t fit into my feelings right now.  Anyway I’m sick.  My best friend right now is a box of tissues – well several – one in every room.  And I have been very unproductive!  Which is not good right now since there is much still to do before Christmas gets here.    Ugh….

Here is a project for you.  On Friday morning I did have my Tags & Treats class which was a lot of fun.  And I wasn’t feeling to terribly bad at that point.  This is one of the projects we made – it’s the Festive Flurry Ornament Kit – the kit comes with everything you need except a hot glue gun to make 10 of these beautiful snowflakes.  I used one as a tag on a white gift bag – it was perfect!

festive-flurrythe pieces in the kit are already printed, die-cut and scored.  Even the Silver Glitter piece is pre-scored.  So you just do all the folding and put it together with a hot glue gun and your good to go.  If you didn’t want to order the kit you could create the same thing using the Festive Flurry Stamp set and Framelit bundle – it would just take you much longer to get it all stamped, cut, scored and folded but it can be done.

Have a nice day and I hope all the dwarf thoughts leave my head by tomorrow.
