Sep 14, 2015 | Birthday, class, Thinlits |
I saw this idea for a tea bag holder and I wanted to recreate it using Stampin’ Up! products. I do love how it turned out. It was one of the projects for my Time to Fly class. This project is for us moms when our kids leave the nest – take a few minutes and have a cup of tea. Of course you can always give this as a sweet gift to someone else that needs a little calming tea.

I stamped the Watercolor Wings butterfly on one side of a piece of white card stock. Then cut it out with the framelits. Then I used the stamps again to stamp the other side – good thing this is a photopolymer stamp set – it makes it so much easier to do this. I folded the butterfly in half and added a notch in the center – that’s where you slide it onto the mug over the string of the tea bag. I found the perfect little die to cut that notch – it is the handle end of the shovel in the Handpicked framelits set. It’s the perfect width and is nice and rounded at the end.
After I cut out the center notch I unfolded the butterfly and decided to cover it with some self-adhesive laminating film that I had. That way it would be a little protected in case it fell inside the cut of tea! I just used my paper snips to trim around the butterfly and trim out the notch again. I tried to cut with the framelits but they didn’t do so well on two layers of film and the card stock.
Once I made the little butterfly holder I decided I wanted a little envelope to hold it along with a tea bag. So I used the Gift Card Envelope die set and cut one from some of the matching Envelope Paper. I stamped another butterfly to decorate the envelope.

It sure does make a nice little gift to give someone – maybe buy them a special mug and then just slide the envelope with the tea bag and holder inside it – or even add a gift card if you want.
Thanks for stopping by today.

May 19, 2015 | Cards, class, Masculine, Retired List |
Do you need the perfect card for Father’s Day? Did you see these “parts” that I shared on my Instagram account?
Everyone loved the colors – Soft Sky, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla – together they made a perfect father’s day card.
I used the Open Sea stamp set along with Gorgeous Grunge (it makes everything better) and the And Many More stamp set for the greeting. You can easily switch out the “BEST DAD EVER” for something else. I used two retiring items on this card the Distressing tool to distress the Soft Suede layer under the sailboat and then the Baked Brown Sugar Thick Baker’s Twine. All the rest is carrying over to the new catalog including all the stamp sets I used – yeah!
This card will be one of the choices in my Card Maker’s Class this week – Friday May 22nd. Join me for a morning or evening class – RSVP here.

Mar 10, 2015 | class, Occasions Catalog 2015 |
What are your thoughts on the kits in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog?
Well my favorite one is the Hello Life Decor Kit! That’s the first one I bought and I am going to have a class on March 22nd for anyone that wants to get together to make theirs. Here are some photos of mine –
I even had some black & white photos of my three boys that I could use! I love how it turned out and I plan to hang it in my new stamping classroom when it is finished – the colors in that room will be Gray, Yellow, White. – Yellow on the walls, white furniture and probably will do gray tiles on the floor. Final decisions haven’t been made yet but that is what I’m thinking right now.
Kyle (my oldest – photo on the left) recently took a business trip to Brazil & Argentina. He is back at his home now in San Francisco. I was able to talk to him last night. Maybe I’m the only one but as a mom I was nervous for his traveling out of the country – it was his first time to leave the US. Ryan (my youngest – photo in the center) is away at college in Indiana. I got to talk to him yesterday too. He will be traveling soon to visit Kyle for his spring break and then stop here at home in Georgia before heading back to finish the semester. Tyler (the middle – photo on the right) is here at home so I get to talk/see him just about every day. He is finishing college and working right now at his first internship job. I was a happy mom last night after talking to all three of them on the same day!
Here is a look at the Pom-pom and heart banner that is on the frame. I figured out the trick with the pom-poms – they take some time but I actually am very happy with the final result. I used a fine tooth comb – to carefully comb out all the strands of yarn.
The panel that says LOVE THIS LIFE can be changed to say what you want. The kit comes with a set of adhesive letters so its’ your choice on what you want to put on there. The kit also has extra’s of most of the pieces in the kit – you can add more to your frame or use the left overs for a scrapbook layout or cards.
Join me on Sunday, March 22nd for a class to create this Home Decor Kit. This is a pre-paid class – RSVP and payment due by March 12th so I can order all the supplies for you. Grab a friend and sign up today! Class Fee is $32.
If you are a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator or you have already purchased the kit you can join us too – the reduced class fee is $7 (pay at the class) – you will have to bring your kit with you to the class.
RSVP for the class here – after I receive your RSVP I will send you a Paypal invoice.
Plan to bring Fast Fuse or Multipurpose Glue adhesive, your paper snips, and a bone folder. You can also bring some photos or add those later at home.
If you have questions let me know.

Feb 9, 2015 | class, Occasions Catalog 2015, Tags, Valentine's Day |
In January I had my Valentine’s Day class and here is a look at the projects we made –
Everyone had a fun time making all these sweet treats and cards for those that they love.
Here is a closer look at the the little LOVE pillow box.
I made a bunch of the these for a treat wrapper swap at the Stampin’ Up! leadership conference too. The plastic pillow box tubes were some that I ordered online. The candy that I put inside wasn’t quite the color that I wanted so I had to come up with an idea on how to “hide” it. The solution was to cut two pieces of card stock to fit in either side of the tube and emboss them with the new Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I slid those inside the pillow box and filled it with the candy. I wanted to add a fun tag and I really thought that the tags that came with the November Paper Pumpkin Kit were different and fun and I knew I could create a Valentine version. Here is a closer look at the tag –

- The tag is 2 pieces – the bottom piece is Whisper White card stock and the top piece is Strawberry Slush.
- Both are punched with the Angled Tag Topper punch – but since they are skinnier than 2″ – they are actually punched twice – once on each side creating 2 holes in the top.
- On the white tag I added a piece of Washi Tape from the Sweet Sadie Collection – its Pistachio Pudding with little white hearts.
- On the Strawberry Slush tag I used the Little Letter Framelits to cut out the word LOVE.
- Then its’ stamped with the little scattered hearts from the You Plus Me stamp set.
- I added little punched Pistachio Pudding heart.
- The tag is tied on to the pillow box with Pistachio Pudding Thick Baker’s Twine.
I hope you like this little project. Valentine’s Day is coming up quickly.

Jan 21, 2015 | Cards, class |
My monthly Card Maker’s Class is this Friday – January 23, 2015. I offer the class twice – once at 10:00 am and then again at 7:00 pm. If you wanted you could even come to both time slots. This is a great class for any level of stamper from a brand-new never stamped before or made a card in my life person to someone that has a craft room full of supplies and makes cards all the time. I hold it towards the end of the month so that you can prepare for the upcoming month. Take a minute to make yourself a list of what kind of cards you may need – next month is February – so that includes Valentine’s Day. Are there any birthday’s, anniversary, do you have invitations to any showers, what about thank you notes or do you have a friend that needs a thinking of you card or just a hello? Come to class with a list and then you’ll know what cards you need and you can create beautiful hand made cards for everyone on your list.
The way I have this class set up is that you get to work at your own pace on the cards that you want to make. I’ll have about a dozen different choices for you and you can make one or more of the ones you want. The class fee is $15 which includes 6 cards plus the envelopes. If time permits you can make additional cards for $2 each. Cards rotate in and out each month and typically stay for more than just one month. Bring your own basic adhesive – like Stampin’ Up! Snail or the multi-purpose glue. I also have some here you can purchase including refills for your snail. If the card needs anything special like glue dots or dimensionals I have those in the box with the card.
Here is an example of one of the cards you can choose from this month.
Plus you will have some Valentine choices too. I hope you will join me. You can RSVP on my website by Thursday night – just click on the event you want to attend and select the RSVP button. I hope to see you on Friday.
