I had a fun Hand’s On stamping class this month showing alternate ideas with the past Paper Pumpkin kits. The stamps are lots of fun and only part of the Paper Pumpkin kits you won’t find them in the regular catalog. So we went “out of the box” and made some new projects with all the fun stamps. I’ll be sharing the ideas I came up with over the next few days. Here is the first one –
Can you guess which past Paper Pumpkin kit I’m using here?
It’s a recent one – the In the Bag kit from February 2014. There were two great circle stamp images in the kit and I used the polka dot image on this card. I stamped on Whisper White card stock in the five different colors (Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Pacific Point) and then punched each one out with the 1″ circle punch. The left over pieces were rather fun looking and I have something planned for those too!
Here are some more details on this card:
- On a Whisper White card stock layer I put it on my Simply Scored board and scored two lines.
- Then glued on my punched circles above the lines. I started by placing the two outside circles, then centered the one in the middle and then filled in with the other two – this was so they would be spread out evenly.
- Stamp a greeting in Jet Black StazOn ink – I used “thanks” from the Another Thank You photopolymer stamp set.
- Place the layer back on the Simply Scored board to score two more lines where the greeting is stamped – but don’t score through the greeting. What I did was score with the greeting facing up – this indents the paper – then turned it over and score exactly on those same lines – so it would be raised on the front.
- Layer the white on a Daffodil Delight Card Stock base.
- Add a bow tied in the Basic Black Taffeta ribbon with a glue dot.

Did you notice the Good as Gold card kit in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure? It’s on page 12 and includes everything you need to make 8 cards. You don’t even need stamps and ink because the kit comes with pre-printed die cut tags. Not only that but the tags come in THREE languages! The greetings are in English, German and French (at least I think it is French – honestly I don’t know any French). But I do know German – in fact my parents are both from Germany and almost all of my relatives still live in Germany. In fact you might remember last May I took a trip to Germany with my parents. So when I saw the greetings in this kit (which I did not at all notice in the brochure) I was super excited! My mom’s birthday was in February and I made a card for her and used one of the German tags on it. I’ll show it to you in a minute.
First I want to show you one of the cards made just like the kit was designed:
It’s a cute Polka Dot card. Add the banner pieces to the front including a gold banner and the greeting. I used the little punched out star too. Bakers twine and Gold Elastic card are tied around the front of the card. The envelope has a gold liner.
At my last team meeting Sue shared with us an alternate idea – she cut each of the Polka Dot card bases in half and used them as a layer on a regular sized card. Then we added die-cut and embossed flowers and a button. This is the one that I made for my mom.
The tag says “for you” in German. So it was perfect for my mom!
In my Sale-A-Bration class last month I shared another idea on how to use this kit – you can use the cards to make a cute little bag perfect for some candy – like gold foil covered chocolate kisses perhaps. I found this one on Pinterest.
I used the Simply Scored board to add the score lines to create the sides and bottom of the box. Punch a hole in the top to add the twine, cord and tags. I used half pieces of the twine and cord that were included in the kit. It’s a tiny little bag but super cute. Hang tight – let me go find the measurements for scoring it so I can share those with you.
Ok – I’m back. You want to start with the card piece 6-1/2″ x 5″ – which means you trim off 1/2″ on the side that is 7″ when the card is open and not folded. Then line it up on the score board so the existing score line is at 3-1/2″ on the board. Now add a score line at 1/2″, at 2-1/2″, and at 5-1/2″. This creates the four sides of the box plus the piece to overlap for gluing. Turn your card stock to score along the bottom edge at 1″. Cut on the score lines up to that 1″ line to create the tabs for the bottom. You’ll also have one extra little rectangle on the overlap piece that you can just cut off to get it out of the way. Glue the bottom tabs to make the bottom of the bag. Pinch the sides to make the top come together and tie it shut with the twine & cord.

Give thanks to those around you with this simple card.
I actually created this card from leftovers of a Halloween card – see it here.
I just switched out the stamp that I used. Here are the pieces and parts to make this card:
- Cajun Craze card base
- Old Olive card stock embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder and the Big Shot
- Tie a piece of Old Olive ribbon around the card stock and tie in a knot
- Using the Label Framelits cut a Cajun Craze label.
- Use Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp image – I used Old Olive and Cajun Craze. The stamp is from the Seasonal Sayings stamp set. Stamp on Whisper White card stock.
- Then cut out with the Label Framelits. Use the Piercing Template, Pad and the Piercer to add the piercing around the label.
If you want it to be a faster card then leave out the piercing – that’s what takes the longest.

Two Thank You cards to show you today….
Cindy Schuster brought these as Make&Takes for my last PAWS team meeting. Everyone got to make one of each. The cards have the same layout and the same stamps but a different look because of the colors and embellishments. One has a Fall feel and the other more of a Spring feel.
So if you have a card that you like try changing up the colors to give it a new look.

With Thanksgiving creeping up on us later this month it is always a time to thank those around us. Thank you for visiting my blog and supporting my Stampin’ Up! business! I want to share this fun Thank You card today using the Circle Card Thinlits die.
One of my favorite thing to do right now is to use the strips of the cut Cotton Ribbon – I love the natural look that the fraying adds. Here are some notes on how I made this card:
- I used Chocolate Chip card stock – cut to the size of the die (its in the instructions that come with the die) – I think it was 5-1/2″ x 6″
- Cut a piece of Sweater Weather Designer paper and glue to the right side of the card. If you add the paper before you cut the card then the edge of the circle will cut out of the paper at the same time and in the right place.
- Then line up the card stock in the die and cut it with the Big Shot – I use the Magnetic Platform for this die.
- I used Gorgeous Grunge to add some interest to the front panel.
- Tie the cotton ribbon strip around the edge of the card through the cut circle – I just tied it in a knot.
- I used the 2-1/2″ Circle punch for two Sahara Sand Circles that will go on either side of the flipping circle.
- Ink the Magnificent Maple leaf with Tangerine Tango ink and then roll the edges in Chocolate Chip ink (called the Rock & Roll technique). NOTE THIS – I do have a tip for you here – the old style ink pads work much better for this technique. The new ink pad brings too much ink to the edges of the stamp and there isn’t a soft change in color. If you only have the new ink pads I would suggest using a sponge to add the darker color around the edge of the stamp.
- I added some dots from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp to the leaves and also rolled the edge of the circle in the Chocolate Chip ink.
- Stamp the Thank You (from Sassy Salutations) on the designer paper using the Chocolate Chip ink.

Our “Thanksgiving” themed project for the Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat was this fall themed Thank You card set.
The whole set includes 4 cards with lined envelopes and a cute decorated bag to hold them all.
This bag idea came from a swap I received at convention. I used the Burlap Ribbon to add a handle to the bag. The button was sewed to the front with Linen Thread. The back was attached with a brad. You just slide the handle to the side to get the cards in and out. It makes a nice little gift for someone. The front of the bag is decorated just like the front of the cards.
Each card was on a different color base to match the colors in the Sweater Weather Designer Series paper. The paper was used to line the envelopes.
I really love the whole set. I hope you love it too!
