A couple of fun announcements today! A monthly kit and a kit for men!
Today at the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference Bonnie Thurber announced a new Kit in the Mail program called Paper Pumpkin.
Every month you’ll get a cute little box that comes to your door with a fun stamping project. I think this is going to be such a fun idea and the perfect solution for many of you who can’t make it to a stamping class. And for anyone else that wants a fun project surprise every month! The kits will include the ink, the stamps, the card stock and accessories and it will all be pre-cut for you – just some adhesive is all you should need and perhaps a pair of paper snips. More details coming out on Monday – that is when you can start joining. But make sure you select me as your demonstrator when you join. More details are coming! And be sure to come to classes this month if you want to see the Welcome kit in real life – because everyone here at Leadership received the Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit and Try It Kit (that’s another option for you too).

It’s another Create with Connie & Mary color challenge – this week the colors were Midnight Muse, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White. That made me decide for sure that I prefer sketch challenges – what in the world was I going to do with those colors?
I did some quick browsing in a crafting magazine and saw a sketch in there that I thought I could use with the new Pretty Petites stamp set that will be available during Sale-A-Bration. So I combined that idea with the color challenge and came up with this cute little card for this weeks challenge –
In the end I liked the colors together and this little creation. It is actually a 3×3 card and here is a quick look at how I made it.
card base is Midnight Muse
I stamped 8 of the mini curly label images from the Pretty petites stamp set in Midnight Muse ink on Whisper White card stock, and punched them all out with the Petite Curly Label punch, arrange those on the front of the card
stamp 1 of the hello image in Midnight Muse ink on Pink Pirouette card stock and punch out – add it with a Stampin’ Dimensional to the lower right corner of the card front
Punch 8 of the Bitty Flowers using the punch from the Itty Bitty Punch pack – those are Pink Pirouette – scrunch them up and add to the center of each curly label.
Put a Rhinestone in the center of each flower
Tie some Whisper White Baker’s twine around the card front and tie in a bow.
In the end I liked the card, the colors and how it all turned out. Substitute one of the other images to make it a thank you, birthday, or other occasion card. Look at this cute thing we made at stamp club last week! I had a punch art Lion card from another Stampin’ Up! event – I think convention probably. It was a swap I received and had posted on my card tree that was up during my classes. Everyone always thought it was cute and Cari wanted to make it at stamp club. Finally I designed a card to go with the punch art lion.
A few new products from the Spring Mini are on here – including the Parker’s Patterns Designer Paper and the Honeycomb Embossing Folder. I’ll come back later and add in all the punches and dies.
The first day of the NEW Spring Stampin’ Up! Catalog! And the beginning of Stampin’ Up!s 25 year silver anniversary!
Now it makes me think I should have made an anniversary card using silver – but we used silver last week – and I did not make an anniversary card. I did however use some brand new products from the Spring Catalog for my card this week. It is a sketch challenge week – I keep trying to decide if I like the sketches better or the colors – I think I prefer sketch challenges. In any case I do like that the Create with Connie & Mary challenges alternate. Here is this weeks sketch –
And I really do like to turn the sketches so I can be different – while it doesn’t always happen – it did this week – and this is the creation that I came up with –
In addition to turning it I decided to switch and have the three panels be the banner flags and the other piece be a rectangle. Which meant I was able to use the new stamp set Hearts a Flutter for my flag along with the matching framelit. Plus I wanted to give a more masculine feel to the Hearts A Flutter stamp set – so I thought this could pass as a masculine Valentine card – what do you think?
Here is a quick look at how I made this.
card base is Basic Gray
card layer of Crumb Cake embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder
add the strip of First Edition Designer Series Paper
Stamp three of the banner flags on Crumb Cake card stock using Basic Gray ink and cut them out with the framelit attach with dimensionals to the strip
Wrap a piece of the Natural 7/16″ Trim Ribbon (I’m going to love this!) around the card layer overlapping the ends. Tie with a piece of Linen Thread.
Stamp the outline heart and chevron heart on Crumb Cake card stock using Basic Gray ink and cut out with the matching framelit. Also cut a heart from Basic Gray card stock.
Stamp “4 You” from Tiny Tags set on the outline heart.
Punch holes with the 1/16″ punch in the three hearts, thread on a Vintage Trinket safety pin and pin to the Linen Thread.

Write a sweet note on the inside and give to your sweetheart!

I have another New Year’s idea for you today – this one is a card – an idea that was from the Chattanooga regional – I believe it was Carrie Cudney’s presentation. I thought it was a fun twist on a card.
I’m not sure that you can really “see” it in a photo – but the front of the card is covered with a cello bag and the small silver glimmer paper and silver card stock circles are loose inside the bag like confetti. You can move them and shake them around! Isn’t that fun! Here are some quick pointers for this card –
The base of the card is Basic Gray – cut 4″ x 11″ and scored in half
The front Whisper White layer has Celebrate (from Seasonal Sayings which will still be available through the spring catalog) stamped in Basic Gray. Next use a Sponge Dauber and Platinum Shimmer paint and add some dots – let those dry.
Punch a bunch of Silver Glimmer and Silver card stock circles using the Bitty Punch Pack circle.
Cut a little Silver card stock banner and attach it to the white layer. Attach the whole white later to the front of the card base. If you want glue a few Silver Glimmer and Silver card stock circles to the front.
Trim a cello bag so that it is 5-1/2″ tall (I used the 4×6 size). Slip that over the front of the card and use snail on the inside of the card to attach the top.
Drop the loose punched circles inside the front of the card and add some snail to the top of the card to glue the bag to it.
Across the top outside attach a piece of Silver Glimmer paper – you need to use glue dots or sticky strip for the glimmer paper the snail doesn’t hold it well. This covers up the adhesive that you used to hold the cello bag to the front of the card.
Thread White baker’s twine through a Vintage Faceted Button and add that to the front on the silver banner.
Ok I think that gets it and hope it all makes sense.
We are stretching Christmas out – Christmas Eve and Christmas morning we were here at home and Greg’s mom joined us. Christmas Day we went to my parents and my brother and his family along with his wife’s family joined us – and Greg’s mom too. It was a big group! Last night we went to Greg’s moms house and his sister and brother and their families all came – we had a fun evening. And tomorrow night we are all gathering here with all of Greg’s family from his dad’s side. It sounds like we will have about 30 people here! I think our New Years Eve is going to be a quiet one with just us here at home as we are going to be celebrated out by the time it gets here…
