Tuesday night we went to the high school to see Tyler in the his first Show Choir performance. He did such a good job. In middle school he did Drama Club for a short time and was in Chorus for one semester. So he is not very experienced in Chorus so I was excited to see the performance. It was great – his group performed the opener – Footloose and then later in the evening they performed a Lion King medley. Greg video taped it and I took some pictures – I haven’t downloaded them yet – I hope they turned out.
I have heard that we have someone close to Bingo….will this be the day…

Welcome to week 6 of the weekly Color Challenge over at the Utah Diva’s International Blog. I can’t believe we have been doing this for 6 weeks already – it feels like we just started.
So for this weeks color challenge we had a whole lot of color – Rose Red, Concord Crush, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight. Oh my….what to do with that many different colors. I thought – thank goodness there is a green in there, I can always do flowers again. But I wanted to do something besides flowers – so I spent several days mulling it over until I finally came to a decision. To make a set of monochromatic cards – but now to choose a set with 5 different images that I could use – I wanted one stamp set, one layout, and each card a different color. I pulled out several different ones and finally decided to use Cute by the Inch – a Level 2 Hostess Stamp Set in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog. It has 9 images – 10 would have worked better, but 9 will do.
Ta-Da – my set of mini cards using the Cute by the Inch set. The whole set is inside a Fancy Favor box – cut using the Thick Window Sheets.
This was the first time I had used these thick window sheets – and boy they are thick – just like those thick plastic boxes you can buy to put treats in. I used Sticky Strip to assemble my box.
Here is a close up of the box with all the cards and envelopes inside.
I tied a piece of Old Olive Satin ribbon around the outside and added a tag to the front.
Here
is a close up of one of the cards. There are 2 of each color except Olive that is why I chose to use the Old Olive ribbon around the box. I probably should just add a 10th card to make it equal and double one of the images.
These mini cards are 2-3/4″ square cards. The white mat is 2-1/2″ and the colored embossed panel is 2″ square. The images are stamped on Whisper White and punched out with the 1-1/4″ square punch. The tag on the front of the box was layered with a 1-3/8″ square that was punched.
That’s my interpretation. Now it is your turn to play with these colors – then go to the UDI blog and add your creation to the linky section. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I had a punch art class this last week and showed everyone different ways to use their Stampin’ Up! punches. This week I’ll be sharing those projects. Here is the first one – a Dahlia Fold Card – the original one I saw was on Stampin’ Connection created by demonstrator LeeAnn Greff. The flower petals are made with the body of the owl from the new Stampin’ Up! Owl punch. 
I used many of the same elements that LeeAnn did but changed a couple of things too. My card base is Soft Suede. Then a layer of Crumb Cake that has been embossed with the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder. I tied a piece of Victoria Crochet Trim around the Crumb Cake layer.
To make the flower punch seven of the owl bodies from Elegant Soiree Designer Series paper. LeeAnn pointed out that this is a great use for our double-sided paper since you get to see both sides of the paper on this card. For each petal – fold the owl body in half, then cut off the feet, then cut from the ear down into the fold. Open it back up and fold in each side to overlap and create a point at the bottom. Use a bone folder to curl the ends. If you need a visual of what the piece looks like – visit LeeAnn’s blog.
Once all the petals are folded glue them around a punched circle – I used the 1-3/4″ circle. Glue all seven around until they form a circle. If they don’t fit well – either use one more, one less, or fold the petals differently. It was funny because the first one I made I had a perfect fit for 7, but the second one I made was off – my folds were a little different. I cut a Baja Breeze scallop circle using the Scallop Circle #2 die and the Big Shot. I put the Dahlia flower in the center and poked a hole with the paper piercer and put in a Antique brads. I attached the whole thing to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I really like the result – I think I’ll try some more with other papers.

Saturday was a busy day – the boys had their first band competition of the season. The are in the Etowah High School band. We were gone most of the afternoon and evening. I thought the band did an awesome job. Tyler played his solo at the beginning of the show. There was only one oops during the show – at one point the guard girls go in between the band players. Well during the show one of the girls had her flag down (she was supposed to) while passing between the band members, one boy stepped on the edge of her flag as she was lifting it up and she pulled his feet right out from under him – luckily he recovered quickly and the show went on! The got a superior rating and a 2nd place trophy only a couple of points behind the first place team – which of course is our rival high school. But it was a good show and everyone was proud of what they had done. They were told to rest for the next two days and then on Tuesday it is back to business because the next competition is next Saturday.
Anyway I’m just posting Bingo for today – I may come back later on Sunday and add a stamping project. Have a great end to your weekend!

I made this fun Halloween Scrapbook Layout for my class a couple of weeks ago. I really love how it all turned out. There are several punch art animals on the layout.
The colors look off in this picture – the background is Crumb Cake, the panel across the center is Basic Gray, the photo mats on the left page are Old Olive and Concord Crush, the title is Cajun Craze.
The photo mat on the right page is Whisper White – I plan to put a collage of photos on this one.
The strip across the bottom is from the Wicked Cool Specialty Designer Series Paper.
There is also a Basic Black mat that was embossed with the Spider Web Embossing folder and the I inked it a little bit with the Frost White shimmer paint.
The stamp set is Wicked Cool. I just love the little candelabra’s – I stamped them in Basic Grey and then painted the flames with the Smooch Accent Ink. 
It looks really good in person on the Crumb Cake card stock.
Then I made punch art – and can you see which punch I used for most of the creatures? I actually used the Owl punch – first of all he is himself as an owl. Then I used him to create the ghost. I used him again for the fat cat.
The cat is the Owl body with the feet clipped off and glued back on a little higher to look like paws. The tail is from the branch on the Bird punch. I sponged the edges with White craft ink – added eyes, nose and whiskers.
The Tombstone is also made from a punch. I cut a strip of the Designer series paper exactly the width of the Designer Label punch and the slipped it into the punch to just punch the top to create the tombstone. The branches at the bottom are from the Bird punch.
The bats of course are the bat punch – quick and easy – sponged with a touch of white craft ink.
And then there is one more special guest on my page – Mr. Rat. Do you see him? Can you tell what punch I used? It is also the owl punch! I need to go back and take a picture of how I cut it and add it to this post – but it is late and dark while I’m writing this so I’ll add it in the morning. His tail is the branch from the Bird punch – it makes a great tail. Can you tell that my rat is fuzzy? I used my Bone Folder to break down the fibers in the card stock until I could pull the layers apart. Then the inside is fuzzy.
How to make a rat.
I got the idea for the rat when I was in Pottery Barn looking at their Halloween decorations – they had lots of fuzzy rats on all of their displays for Halloween. So when I got home and worked on this layout the idea kind of popped in my head and it actually worked!
Now to get pictures for my layout – I think I’ll have to find some old ones because my boys aren’t little any more – so I don’t expect to have new Halloween pictures this year.

This was what I was working on when I stopped to make the card for the UDI color challenge. 
Butterfly Tags! I had a stack of the scalloped tags from the Two Tags Die for the Big Shot. They were leftovers after cutting the tags and using the other one for a different project. So I decided to make some quick tags for my orders that are coming in this week. I’m not sure how good the color is in this picture but the tags themselves are Real Red, Old Olive and Tempting Turquoise.
I used the Just Believe stamp set – the large floral image is stamped in Early Espresso ink on the tag. Then I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and the Big Shot to cut butterflies. It’s hard to tell in the picture but some are Daffodil Delight and some are Crushed Curry – I just pulled scraps out to cut these.
On the large butterfly I stamped “thanks so much” from the Tiny Tags stamp set. Then the butterfly was stapled to the tag. I added one of the smaller butterflies to the top of each one too. Punch a 1/16″ hole in the top, add some crochet thread and you have tags.
These were quick to make – I had a whole pile done in no time.
