Aug 21, 2009 | Big Shot, In Colors, SU Ribbon |
The Ribbon Shares are all ready. If you had one getting mailed to you – it is in the mail today. The others are here at my house. A few are missing Rich Razzleberry ribbon which has been on backorder since late July. The ribbon finally shipped this week so I will have it soon.
I made a box out of Soft Suede card stock and a window sheet. The flower is one of the Big Shot embosslit flowers – Simple Flower. And the leaves are the Little Leaves Sizzlet. All the ribbon was wrapped around my fingers and then tied with white crochet thread. I added a little tag punched with the scallop oval. Some white gel pen accents finished everything off. And a clear rhinestone brad is in the center of the flower.
Enjoy.
Thanks for visiting today!
Tomorrrow I’ll post the cards from todays class.

Aug 20, 2009 | Big Shot, Circle Circus, Designer Series Paper, Embellishments, In Colors, Stampin' Up! Events, SU Ribbon |
At convention I attended a group meeting for the STARZ group – that includes everyone in Wendy Randall’s downline. Wendy, Sue and I traveled from Georgia to attend convention. Most of the others in Wendy’s downline were from California and a few from Texas and Arizona. I enjoyed visiting with all of these girls because I don’t normally see them the rest of the year. At our meeting Wendy did an awesome presentation on Taking Better pictures and Scrapbooking. We saw a few demos and then there were 5 projects for us to make – each one was designed by a different person. I presented my Tile Card – you can click HERE to see it.

Michelle's Circle Circus card
There were two other cards that used the Circle Circus stamp set – one designed by Michele Scileppi – the colors were Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry and Old Olive. And she used the Big Shot dies – Daisy #2 and the Top Note for the embellishments on the card. Her example also had a tag hanging off the hemp cord but I left that off of mine.

Elizabeth's Circle Circus card
Another Circle Circus card was designed by Elizabeth Martinez. The colors she used were Soft Suede and Crushed Curry. We used a variety of circle punches to punch out the different images in the stamp set. The Crushed Curry print from the Razzleberry Lemonade paper was added across the font of the card. Then the Soft Suede ribbon and a brad finished off the card. We will be making this card in my class on Friday.

Wendy's Mini Scrapbook
Wendy presented a mini scrapbook made with the new Thoroughly Modern file folders and stored inside one of the new gusseted envelopes. The colors on the folders are Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede, Rose Red and Sahara Sand. We decorated it using the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set and the new Butterfly punch. Ribbon accents were added. One of the inside pages was folded over to create a pocket.

STARZ meeting - Fancy Favor Box w/Love Notes
And one of the California girls (sorry I’m not sure who) showed us a fancy favor box filled with love notes. The colors were Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White. The Razzleberry Lemonade paper was used to add the accents on the box and mini cards. Some jumbo eyelets and ribbon were used to create the handle. The box is cut using the new Fancy Favor Box die for the Big Shot.
After everyone shared their project we all worked on them the rest of the night. It was a fun meeting.

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

Aug 17, 2009 | Big Shot, Chipboard, Stampin' Up! Events, SU Ribbon, Techniques |
My roommates and I exchanged gifts at convention. I already posted about the gift I gave them and today I wanted to share the gifts that I received.
Michele made us each a little technique book. She used the Top Note Die to create all the pages and put the book on a ring so that we can add more techniques. The front and back cover are chipboard covered with Designer Series paper. On the individual pages there was a sample of the technique and the instructions on how to do it. The ones included in my book were:
Stained Glass
Versamark Resist or Ghosting
Faux Linen
Serigraph
Faux Tile
Several of these are new techniques for me so I tell you more about them as work with the techniques on later projects.
Diane gave each of us a monogram bookmark made from the Styled Silver HodgePodge Hardware. She used the Polka Dot ribbon and the Filgree brad at the end of the book mark. The letter is from the Lovely Letters Alphabet set. After putting the stamped image inside the hardware piece she used Crystal Effects to fill it in so that it looks like a piece of glass. It is actually two of the hardware pieces together with the card stock sandwiched in between.
Sue gave each of us this cute denim bag. While there is no actual stamping on this bag here is what she did use to create it –
The Big Shot and the Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Butterflies die! Sue used old fabric samples that she had on hand and cut them with her Big Shot and attached them to the front of the bag. The Big Shot will cut fabric and chipboard (and many other things) with the Bigz and Original dies. If you want to see the full list go to my blog side bar where the PAGES are listed and under HELPFUL INFORMATION click on BIG SHOT TIPS.
On the left corner she used the Crop-a-Dile to set two Jumbo Eyelets and then tied a piece of the new Polka Dot ribbon through them.
Everyone loved the bags and since we all carried ours around many people asked to take pictures of it.
I think I’ll have to try my hand at making some of these….
Now on to a little bit of family news – today was Kyle’s first day of college! He is still in his senior year of high school but taking all his classes at Kennesaw State University. So he got up this morning and drove in to campus. He had two classes today and I was surprised to see him home early – almost 2 hours earlier than I was expecting him. Apparently today’s classes let out early as the professors just gave introductions to the class. So it seems he had a pretty easy day the first day and found his way there and back home (he drove it once last week with me navigating the way) with no problems.
I am headed up to the craft room to finish the ribbon share and paper shares and prepare for my PAWS downline meeting tonight.
Have a happy stampin’ day!

Aug 15, 2009 | Big Shot, Decor Elements, Embellishments, Stampin' Up! Events |
Sorry about the late post – the day slipped away from me and I just realized I didn’t put one up.
I took Ryan and a friend to the Skate Park today. They spent several hours on their skateboards and Ryan came home with bumps and bruises and scrapes – oh my! He should be good and tired tonight and probably sore tomorrow. But he had fun!
I wanted to share with you one of the gifts I received at convention.
This is the gift that my upline Wendy Randall made for everyone in her downline. She gave them to us at our group meeting on Wednesday night. The colors are Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie. This is a Top Note purse that she showed me how to make a few months ago. I have made several different ones and I’m pretty sure I’ve shown them on my blog. Hers used the new Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the Big Shot. The Embossing Folders give a very deep impression because they have both the positive and negative of the embossed portion. If you use a texture plate it is much more subtle. The closure on the front was created using a Build-A-Brad. And the front flap was wheeled with the Jumbo Wheel called Friendly Words. Wendy also sponged the embossed portion and the front flap to give everything more dimension by the addition of the shadows.
Inside the purse Wendy had a container of embellishments – mine was Basic Gray Corduroy Buttons – I’m assuming everyone had something different – but I didn’t actually ask anyone else what they got. We also had door prizes at our meeting and I won one of the new Decor Elements called Eat – it has the word “eat” and underneath a fork. I’ll have to use it to create a menu board to put up in the kitchen.
That goes right along with one of the business classes we took. It was called “Create a Simpler Life”.
We talked about how hard it can be to fit everything we want into our routines. So we learned about some everyday shortcuts to
prepare for workshops, make meals, cleaning, and more. And one of the things mentioned was planning a menu each week. Over the years I have done that at various times – planned meals for the week, planned themes for each night – like mexican night, pasta night, chicken night, etc. I need to get back to doing something like that again.
In that class
they gave away a few prizes and my roommate, Diane, won!
She received a book called “Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Home”. The author is from Iowa which is where Diane lives so she was thrilled to get it.
Now her job is to read it and pass on to the rest of us all the great cleaning tips she learns! I’ll take any help I can get to make cleaning this house easier. I worked on dusting and floors on Friday before my club meeting. But didn’t finish so I have more to do.
I had a great time at our Stamper’s Club meeting last night. And all the orders were placed today. Everybody is going to continue with the club which we will start again in Sept. I’ll share those projects later this week. One was the Tile Card from the blog tour that I also used as the project for our group meeting at convention and I posted the picture and instructions that week also – so I won’t show that one again. But the other two I’ll show – one was a demo from the group meeting and the other one of our Make ‘n Takes from Stampin’ Up!.
Have fun the rest of the weekend!

Aug 14, 2009 | Big Shot, Build-a-Bear, Designer Series Paper, Holiday Mini Catalog 2009 |
Stampin’ Up! has teamed up with the Build-A-Bear Workshop to bring you an exciting and exclusive collection of products you and the children in your life will enjoy. These appealing stamp sets and Sizzix dies will bring a beary fun look to your projects!
At convention we had the opportunity to play with the Sizzix dies and here is my little guy – say “Hi”!
I used the Stampin’ Up! Bigz Dies – Stampin’ Up! Bear and Stampin’ Up! Beary Essentials. The clothes were cut from the new Designer Series Paper called Pawsitively Prints.
All convention attendees this year got the chance to purchase our very own Stampin’ Up! stuffed Build-a-Bear! They were quite the hot item at convention! Each stuffed bear came with it’s very own stamp. And a few lucky demonstrators even won a Build-a-Bear prize from the Prize Patrol. They received a pack of the Pawsitively Prints Designer Series paper and the Beary Best Friends and Beary Nice Wishes stamp sets. I wish I had been one of the lucky ones……..instead I’ll just have to order mine.
Come join me for a class or workshop and meet my beary special bear that I brought back from convention. She is all decked out in her Stampin’ Up! apron and ready to stamp with you!
Have a beary fun day! I’ll see all my stamp club member tonight!

Aug 10, 2009 | Big Shot, Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! Events |
I am home from convention. We learned SO MUCH and saw SO MANY new ideas it is going to take weeks to digest all that information.
I am so tired and I came home with a cold too. So my head is groggy today and after the boys got on the bus I actually climbed back in bed and went back to sleep. I really can’t remember the last time I did that. Once I am up I always try to stay up. I spent the past couple of hours working on some volunteer stuff for the high school marching band. I still have to unpack.
The convention was the best – just like it is every year. It was so much fun seeing the new ideas, talking to old friends and meeting new friends, stamping projects at our make-n-takes, swaps and group meeting and then in our room each night. We had some awesome meals and tried a few new restaurants as well as eating at some old standbys. We have committed to trying out some more new ones next year. Over the next weeks I’ll be sharing swaps and projects from convention – I have so many it will take that long to share it all with you.
Today I’m going to share the project I created for our Roommate swap. There were 4 of us in our room and we started this last year and decided to continue again this year – we each brought one project to share with everyone in the room so Friday night was our Roommate swap.
I had two projects – a Scratch pad holder with a matching pen and the chapstick butterfly. The butterfly idea was shared by another demo, Julia Betten
court, from the UdderlyAwesome group. The butterfly is the largest one on the Beautiful Butterflies Die for the Big Shot. It shows on the die as only half the butterfly and you need to fold your paper and place it on the die to cut. The chapstick is wrapped with a coordinating piece of Designer Series paper – I used sticky strip to adhere it. Fold the butterfly in half and punch a hole with the 1/8″ handheld punch a little bit in from the fold. Thread the ribbon through and tie around the chapstick in the front. Isn’t it cute?
The scratch pad holder is the same project I did for teacher gifts at the end of May so I already posted that earlier. The inside papers are stamped with the new hostess set called Of the Earth – it is a level 1 set. The ink is Summer Sun. The Designer Series Paper is the Pink Flamingo paper. The daisy die was cut twice with Summer Sun card stock and there is a white jumbo grommet set in the center of the flower. These little scratch pads are quick and easy to make.
I’ll share more about convention later. I have lots of pictures to download so that I can show you some of the highlights.
Happy Stampin’!
