Jun 24, 2009 | Blooming with Love, class, Designer Series Paper, Masking, Retired List, Stamps, Techniques |
Well I should be back on schedule now to get something new posted each day. Greg seems to be improving and actually went in to work today – he has been home for a week and a half – so I’m glad that he feels well and can drive today. We will go back to the doctor on Thursday. It seems that it is an infection and is now responding to the medication that he is on – it just took a while. The steroid boost he got on Monday seems to have really helped. I think the worst is over now and maybe we can figure out what is causing these infections. He had one last year too – not exactly the same situation but still….
Now on to some stamping……
Blooming with Love is the third main stamp set that I featured in my Stamp-a-Stack class last week. We made two beautiful cards using this set and the Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love this set and have had it since early this year and this was the first time I had a chance to use it. Everything I have ever seen with this set is just beautiful. Why did I wait so long to buy it and why did I wait so long to use it??? Now it is on the Last Chance List and it won’t be available for sale after the end of June. But I do have mine, so if you want one too don’t forget to order it. And the Parisian Breeze paper is so pretty and it works well for both female and male cards – why – because every pattern that has flowers (girly) on the back side (it is double-sided paper) there is a more manly design like stripes.
So here are the two cards we made – the designs are slightly altered from cards created by a demonstrator named Becky Roberts. The greeting on this first card is actually a Rub-on from the Chit Chat Rub-ons – I love this collection of Rub-Ons you get over 200 different greetings – one sheet is White and the other is Chocolate Chip. The pots are stamped on scraps of the Parisian Breeze paper and cut out – then adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals ontop of the pots stamped on the Whisper White card stock. Use an aquapainter and some Sahara Sand ink to add the shadows around the plants and pots and on the ground.
This second card uses the “masking” technique. Use this technique to make the pots sit inside the wheelbarrow and the flowers sit inside the pots. You need to use post it notes when doing this technique.
First stamp the image you want in the foreground – in this case the wheelbarrow. Stamp it again on a post it note and cut out exactly on the lines – or just inside the lines of the image – this is your “mask”. Then cover the image that you stamped on your card stock.
Next stamp the second layer – in this case the center pot inside the wheelbarrow. Also stamp one on a post it note and cut it out – you may want more than one since we are working with multiple pots or you’ll have to move the one around. Leave the mask on the wheel barrow and add a mask over the center pot.
Now stamp the third layer – which is the other two pots in the wheelbarrow – they appear behind the center pot and all appear to be sitting inside the wheelbarrow. To add the flowers inside each pot you need to cover each one with a mask before stamping the flower.
Also stamp the pot behind the wheel before lifting the mask covering the wheel portion of the wheelbarrow. Once you have stamped all the pieces then remove all the masks and color in the images. When watercoloring with the Aquapainter use Stazon ink for all your stamping. I used both classic ink and Watercolor Wonder Crayons to color these.
On this particular card I stamped the wheelbarrow image onto a piece of the Parisian Breeze paper (the chocolate chip print) and cut it out. It was adhered to the original image with stampin’ dimensionals. And a vintage brad is in the center of the wheel.
The circle image with the Thank You is from another stamp set that is on the Last Chance List – it is called Seeing Spots. For a complete list of Last Chance items click on the page on the right side bar under Helpful Information – you can see the stamp sets, Decor Elements and accessories that are on the last chance list. It is your last chance to buy them….before they are gone. You can email me or go to my website and order online by clicking the SHOP NOW button.
I hope you like these beautiful cards. The masking technique is a real “Wow” technique and fun to use – so give it a try.
Have a Bloomin’ Beautiful Day!

I am a princess! Did you see my crown? Look at the side bar on my blog and you will see my princess crown. I never really thought of myself as a girly girl – I was not into princess stuff – I grew up outside in a sailing club – sailing with boys. I’m not big on makeup (rarely wear any), I don’t reallly like to shop, and I don’t have a million pairs of shoes either – and God blessed me with three boys so I really don’t have a girly life at all. But now I am a princess and I’m so excited! Why am I a princess?
Well that is because I am one of the blogs on the Royal Blog Tour that will take place on July 26, 27, and 28th. You might remember that I participated in a blog tour in April and one in May. What is a blog tour? A group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from the Late Night Stampers group have gotten together to feature projects showcasing different stamp sets from the new 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog. Each blog on the tour will be linked to the next blog and you will be able to travel during the tour dates from one to another. There will be four different tours that you can take during the Royal Blog Tour dates. Each tour will have 20 stops. You will get to visit demonstrators from all over the world with all different stamping styles. If you click on my crown you will get to the Royal Blog Tour blog where you can get all the details about all the tours.
My featured stamp set is going to be the new Circle Circus stamp set. I have been working on my projects and I made THE CUTEST scrapbook page! I can’t wait to share it! I’m so excited about how it turned out that it will be part of my July Scrapbook class which is the day after the tour – on July 29th. I wish I could show you but you will just have to check back and visit me during the tour. I also made a cool interactive card featuring a combination of two techniques (I guess you call them techniques) in one card. You’ll get to see the card during the tour and then you’ll have to visit me again for a tutorial on how to make it. Just a hint – don’t throw away the leftover rubber from your die-cut stamps – you can use it to make this cool card!
I can’t tell you any more you will just have to be patient. Mark your calendar and come vist me during those three days!
Princess Monika needs to get back to work now and get some other things done.
I’m giving you a royal princess wave….. ))))))))))

Here is the card that Ryan gave to Greg for Father’s Day –
I would like to tell you that Ryan made the card – but he didn’t – I made it real fast. Ryan was washing golf balls that one of the neighbors brought by (the ones that end up in his yard from the golfers missing their shots). Ryan gave them all a good bath, scrubbed and dried them. I remembered this card that I got as a swap at convention one year. I used the Short Order Alphabet set which is on the Last Chance list. It is one that I use alot because it has both upper and lower case letters in it. And the matching Short Order Number set which also has some great coordinating pieces in it – including ‘st’, ‘nd’ and stuff like that.
I also used both the alphabet and numbers on the school layout – along with several other alphabets. This is my oldest son when he was in kindergarten – now he is a senior in high school – can you believe how fast they grow up?
I guess one job I have this year is to finish the rest of the scrapbook pages for his school album. Atleast that was my plan was to create a “school” album for each of the boys with a couple of pages for each school year. I have tried to save atleast one thing each year where they have written their name. The circle by his photograph was his actual handwriting in kindergarten. I have several years done but not all of them. I also like to include a pocket page to insert report cards and certificates and stuff. Time to finish the rest before he graduates.
I’m hoping to post something new every day this week. We’ll have to see how the week goes. Greg is still home and we are going back to the ENT today (I didn’t want to wait until Thursday). I called and left a long message this morning because there hasn’t been any improvement over the weekend. They wanted us to wait until Thursday and I said he needed to come in sooner we should be seeing improvement. So gotta go now – I’ll have more info later….

Jun 20, 2009 | Big Shot, class, Designer Series Paper, family, Occasions Mini 2009, Retired List |

Here is a quick little card I made yesterday afternoon in between my Stamp-A-Stack classes. I have some cards for sale at a local bird store and told them I would make some more “manly” looking cards since it was Father’s Day. I took a few last week and just didn’t get time to make anymore. I figured it was my last chance so I took an idea from the new catalog and made some slight changes. The color combination is actually on the color wheel – Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, Old Olive and Bordering Blue. This is the Forest Friends stamp set. I added texture with the Big Shot and my texture plate. Edges are sponged on each layer. The owl is on dimensionals – which you can see because there is a shadow – along with the the other two layers.
Yesterday’s stamp-a-stack class was a lot of fun. I needed the break but did have a few interuptions – sorry about that.
Everyone made 6 cards with matching envelopes. I used three main stamp sets – Heartfelt Thanks, Wild About You and Bloomin’ with Love. Most of the cards I actually posted already. The Heartfelt Thanks cards we made included the one with the large scallop circle and the one with the Sweet Always striped paper – see my post from June 10th. The Wild About You cards we made included the Lion card with the Rainbow Sherbet paper – I wish I had bought that paper earlier – now it is sold out and I really liked it in person, and the Alligator card with the In-Colors – see my post from June 14th.
The last two cards used the Bloomin’ with Love stamp set and I’ll post those later.
These are all on the Last Chance List – they will be retiring at the end of June and no longer available to buy – so don’t hesitate. You can check on all the stamp sets, acessories and Decor Elements on the Last Chance List by clicking on the page in my side bar – under Helpful Information – click on Last Chance List.
Greg is doing a bit better – we talked to the doctor yesterday and he said they confirm that it was an infection and not something more. We now go back on Thrsday instead of Monday. I hope there is more improvement by Monday with the antibiotics he is on.
Thanks and have a great weekend.

Jun 19, 2009 | Big Deal Alphabet, Retired List, Scrapbook Pages, Stamps |
Sorry for the lack of posts this week – we have had a medical issue arise with my husband and I have spent several days driving him everywhere for doctors appointments and tests. Hopefully on Monday we will know something more about what is going on.
Today I’m going to share some projects I have made over the past few years with the Big Deal Alphabet set. I really like to use this alphabet for scrapbook pages – it is big and easy for me to cut out – which I like to have mine cut. Then I can overlap the letters and raise some on dimensionals. Or stamp them flat and overlap and tilt – then you don’t have to worry about being in a straight line – I’m not good at that anyway. There is also a coordinating number set – so if you own the alphabet and want the matching numbers you need to get them now before they are gone….
The Big Deal Aphabet set also works for cards if you have a short word like – BABY, JOY, HI, SNOW, LOVE or an individual letter that you want highlighted. The samples below are from the past few years and show both cards, scrapbook ideas and 3-D projects. Some of the pictures aren’t that great but you’ll get the idea.
The LAST CHANCE lists of all the stamp sets, decor elements and accessories are HERE.
Hopefully I’ll be back on track with daily posts after this.
Enjoy your weekend and Happy Father’s Day!
