November 2009 Wow Scrapbook Kit

This month’s Wow Scrapbook kit includes three layouts.  The first one is a Halloween layout featuring the Cast-a-Spell Designer Series Paper and the Halloween Hoot stamp set.  The second one features the Always stamp set and two of our new In-Colors – Soft Suede and Dusty Durango.  The third layout was designed to be used in a baby scrapbook but would also work for zoo pictures – this layout uses the Baby-Wipe Technique (when you have a baby you have lots of baby wipes around – you may as well use them to stamp with!).

Happy Scrappin’!

Reindeer Swap

reindeer-swapThis is the cutest little reindeer swap that I got from Rhea Anderson at the Chattanooga Regional.  She was a new friend that I met there –  it was her first Stampin’ Up! event and she was so excited.  This is a little pouch that folds over – on the inside is a slot cut with the modern label punch that she had a piece of candy stuck inside.  She used some ribbon to make a handle so it is like a mini little purse.

The punch art reindeer is the cutest.  He has a red shiny nose – use crystal effects to get it to shine.  And the whole pouch is covered with the shimmery sparkles from the new Shimmer Paint in the Holiday mini.  I don’t think it really shows in person but it does in real life.  It is just covered in shimmer!

Can you guess how the antlers were created?    It is one of our Big Shot Dies – it is the Stampin’ Up! Tulipe Bigz die – she just cut a piece off the die cut image and used it for the antlers – very clever and looks perfect don’t you think?

Thanks Rhea for sharing your creativity with me at the regional and joining us at our table – we enjoyed the day with you!

If you missed my Holiday Card class the other week – you are in luck, I am going to have one more class on Thursday, November 19th at 10:00 AM only (not night class – sorry).  I’ll add it to my website calendar and be sending out an email to my email list.  This coming Friday I’m having a Holiday BIG SHOT class!  We will be making projects using the Big Shot – it should be lots of fun – an email will be coming out for that too.

I had a busy weekend – it was Wendy’s Gift Giving Extravaganza weekend – Wendy is my upline and each year she creates about a dozen projects and opens her house up for all day Friday and Saturday for everyone to come make gifts for the holidays.  I hope one year to have something similar but for now I just attend hers.  Everyone chooses the projects they want to make and I made three different ones this year.  So Friday morning/afternoon I was stamping at Wendy’s house.  Then Friday night I had my Stamper’s Club meeting – it was a lot of fun and we made some great projects there including a gift idea which I’ll be sharing later this week.  Saturday morning I took Ryan to his soccer game and then went back to Wendy’s house in the afternoon.  The best part about going to Wendy’s for this event is that her husband cooks for us!  Home made soups and rolls, deserts and more – the food is great – I’m not sure I can get Greg to do that for me.  Today I’ve been working on the school years scrapbook pages and tonight we went to dinner with Greg’s brother and mom and just got back.  It feels like its after 9 but it was only 7 when we got home.  The time change has it dark so early now.

Enjoy what’s left of the day!

Oh – one more thing – someone asked me a question about one of the projects I posted recently and I tried to email a reply but it came back with a bad email.  So can you send me the question again with a different email.  I forgot which project so if I didn’t reply to you then email me again.  Thanks.

Clarice the Reindeer

reindeerThis is Clarice the Reindeer.  Isn’t she cute?  I just noticed that she is missing an eyelash.  She had a bit of a rough ride back from Virginia.  This is another project I got to make while I was away.  It was designed by Heather Summers as part of her Simply Holidays class.

On my return trip from Virginia, Stephanie dropped me off at the airport in what we though was plenty of time (at my Atlanta airport it would have been).  But I got to the security line and it was a line with only 2 people checking so we stood, and stood and stood and more people kept coming.  They finally added another couple of people but by this time I was really getting concerned that I would be late because I still had to take the little bus thing to the actual terminal.  I haven’t been in this airport in a long time so I was a bit unsure of where I was going.  Finally it is my turn at security – one bag through, my second bag with all my stamped creations, stamps, catalog – all the important stuff – gets stopped and studied – not a good sign.  It comes out and the lady grabs it and says “who’s bag is this” – now this really isn’t good – what could be wrong – I don’t have anything in there.  So I have to go with her to the table and she opens the bag – out pops my little Clarice – and the lady kind of looks at it, and then I have cards, and a box (with 4 brads in the lid – metal), and an empty little mini bottle (apparently that was one of the problems- but it was empty and didn’t even have a lid on it) with a pretty tag (I’ll be showing that later as it is a future class project) – and she keeps pulling stuff out and touching it all, and my GoGo Boots alphabet Sizzlet dies (I guess they do have metal in them too – but they are so thin – and I certainly can’t hurt anyone with them).  So I pipe up real quick – “oh, I made that, and that too, and the tag, and that too, and they are stamps and its made out of paper, and, and,…..”)  And I’m thinking please hurry I’m going to miss my flight.  But now she wants to see everything I made and I think she no longer thinks there is a problem she just wants to see it and touch it.  Finally she says – “Ok you can go, you are very talented, I’ll let you put it all back in, just go on now…”  – I frantically try to get it all back in – I had it so nice so it wouldn’t get messed up – but not anymore.  I rush through to find the bus thing and get to the right terminal.  I got to the gate as they started boarding my flight.  What a relief – got my seat, sat next to a nice lady that lived in SC and we talked for the entire flight!   So anyway Clarice lost an eyelash and one ear was missing by the time we got home.

This is a triangle box – it is actually the same box that I made back at Valentine’s and filled with candy.  It is a great box because you don’t need any adhesive to hold it shut – the ribbon hold it shut (the one by the nose).  Heather had 2 other holiday designs that I have yet to make – but I will – I do a lot of things in three’s because I have three boys and that way each can have a different one. It is all Stampin’ Up! supplies and doesn’t even have any stamping on it.  I did do some sponging though so I did use ink and punches of course.

It is almost time for stamp club so I’m going to go for now.

Have a great weekend!

3×3 Thank You tag

I have started making 3×3 tags to put on all of my orders – they serve two purposes – one to say thank you to the person that ordered and two it has their name on it so I know whose bag it is without having to look inside.    I saw this idea when I visited Christina Crawford, a demo in Virginia.  She had tags on all of her orders and they just looked so pretty.  This week I made some fall looking ones using the Upsy Daisy stamp set.  They turned out cute – the layout was one from Stampin’ Up! and I just changed the colors to suit what I needed.

3x3-thank-you

Stampin’ Up! supplies used:

  • Crushed Curry card stock
  • Dusty Durango card stock
  • Chocolate Chip card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Upsy Daisy stamp set
  • Crushed Curry ink
  • Chocolate Chip ink
  • Linen Thread
  • Crop-a-Dile
  • Tag corner punch
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals

The 3×3 cards are quick and easy to make so I whipped out a small stack in no time.  And then I decided to make a full size card using the exact same design, colors and stamp set.  I needed a card to send off as a Thank You.  Once you find a layout that you like or a color combination just adapt it to the size card that you need.

thank-you-card

To create the large card – I stamped the daisy image twice.  I made the Chocolate Chip strip a little wider and added the paper piercing along the bottom of the card.  The Tag for the Thank You is also longer and the Dusty Durango circle is a 1/2″ circle on that tag.

So additional Stampin’ Up! supplies needed for the larger card include

– 1/2″ circle punch

– Paper Piercer

– Mat Pack

After having so much rain for so long this week has been beautiful with clear sunny skies.  But fall is definitely here – the leaves are turning and falling to the ground faster than Greg can keep them off the yard.  It would be a great time to drive up to the mountains and take some pictures.

Have a wonderful day!
