April Wow Scrapbook Kit

The Wow Scrapbook kit will include step-by-step instructions to create each layout (three 2-page 12″ x 12″ layouts) including all measurements, color photographs, and WOW tips.  Full kits ordered by the 30th of the month will include a paper & embellishment pack.

There are three 2-page 12×12 layouts – one is “Play Ball” which features the Just Basketball set but could be changed to use one of the other sets.  Another is an “Easter Basket” page that features a woven basket and the last one is a “Snow Day” layout  which features the bleaching technique (we had snow days this year in Georgia so we had to make one!).

We also have an ordering options for demos that don’t want the supplies – order the whole monthly kit or just individual layouts.  Click here to go to the WOW Scrapbook Kits Blog.

If you have questions let me know.  Happy Scrappin’

Flight of the Butterfly Tag Box

I don’t think I shared this project from my class last month – it is a box of tags – this project was demonstrated for us at the Chattanooga Half-Day Regional.  I used a different color combination and added the flowers to the butterflies.  It is a cute little project.

First we made a box using Old Olive card stock with the insert inside to create the different sections.  The box is a 6″ x 6″ piece of card stock – scored at 1″ on all four sides.  Snip two opposite sides to create tabs and glue to make the box.

The insert is made from two pieces of 4″ x 6″ of Old Olive card stock.  Score both pieces at 2″, 3″ and 4″.  Then on one you cut down the center from the outside edge to each score line and on the other you cut down the center between the two outside score lines and nudge over and cut again to create a narrow slit.  Fold both pieces so they have a mountain in the middle.

Fold up the first piece and slide it into the slit in the second piece then fold down the flaps to create the sectioned insert.  Slide this inside your box.

We made butterfly tags – there are four tags of each color – Old Olive, Regal Rose and Rose Red with butterflies that were made by stamping the details from Flight of the Butterfly stamp set and punching with the Butterfly Punch.

For each butterfly we added a flower punched from the Trio Flower punch and a silver brad.  The butterflies are attached to the tag with pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The words come from the Fundamental Phrases stamp set – I used “For You”, “Hello”, “Thanks”, and “Friend”.

The tags were put in the box and then we added ribbon.  Slide the whole thing inside a large cello bag.  Tie with a piece of ribbon.  Then add a tag which was made from a metal edge tag as the base.

This would make a cute hostess gift or just for a friend.  It reminds me of spring!  If you  would like to come to my next class – it is this week on Friday – please let me know today.

Have a nice spring day!

Awash with Flowers

I just received my Summer Mini pre-order and the sneak peek Awash with Flowers stamp set – now it is time to plan out projects for the upcoming months and the Create with Connie & Mary class.  I played first with the Awash with Flowers stamp set – this is a 2-step stampin’ set that is a sneak peek from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog that will be out in July.  I needed a project for my downline meeting that I had last night too.  I decided to work with a sketch I found on the Stamping 411 blog for this week.

As you can see I have turned the sketch on its side for my version.  I stamped the outline images first and then filled in with the solid images.  I used a Stampin’ Write marker to fill in the flower stems and the little details coming out of the middle of the flowers.

Here is a full list of Stampin’ Up! supplies:

  • Awash with Flowers stamp set
  • Tiny Tags stamp set
  • Itty Bitty Background stamp set
  • Melon Mambo card stock and ink
  • Bermuda Bay card stock and ink
  • Basic Black card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Staz-on ink Jet Black
  • Rich Razzleberry ink and marker
  • Old Olive ink and marker
  • Scallop Trim Border Punch
  • Black Gingham Ribbon
  • Big Shot Die-Cut machine
  • Perfect Details Texturz Plate

I thought it turned out cute – and bright and springy (is that a word).  I made it into a Thank You card but this would be pretty as a Mother’s Day card too.

I have a few updates on the backyard birds – so House #3 has the bluebirds and they had 4 eggs before we left on our trip – I checked yesterday and mom is sitting on the eggs and there are still only 4 so she was done the day before we left.  While we were away House #2 has a new nest in it – it appears to be a Chick-a-dee nest – moss and fur are in there – I just haven’t seen any birds going in or out yet – I don’t think there are any eggs in there yet.  House #3 has a nest that was started before we left – looks to be a Tufted Titmouse – but I haven’t confirmed that yet either – it doesn’t appear to have any eggs unless they are buried.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Bird House Card

Here is another card from my Birds & Butterflies class last month.  This is a gorgeous bird house card designed by my friend and fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator Michelle Sclippei – she is so creative.

The card base is So Saffron card stock with a piece of Sweet Pea Designer Series paper on the front – a hole punched for the bird which has been sponged with Chocolate Chip ink.

The roof top is Old Olive which was run through the Big Shot with the new Dots Embossing Folder – and then sponged around the edges.  The roof trim is the new Scallop Trim Border punch.

The front is decorated with leaves from the two-step bird punch and butterflies from the Beautiful Wings embosslit.  A very creative card!

Speaking of birds – I took a picture of the bluebird nest the other day with 4 eggs – I’m not sure if she was done.  Bluebirds normally lay 4 or 5 eggs.  When I get back home I’ll check.

And then a quick picture showing the mountain view from our deck.  I need to remember to get some sunrise pictures in the morning.

I’m off to check on Greg who is down by the fire-pit – he and the boys built a fire a little while ago.  And then we’ll be starting dinner.

Have a nice weekend.
