UDI Color Challenge #42

Guess what?  It’s Tuesday!  And what else?  Only 3 more days left to order from the 2010-2011 catalog.  And what else?  Only 4 more days until we can order from the new catalog!  And what else?  Only 15 days until I leave for convention!!  And I have so much to do!

But since it is Tuesday it is a new Color Challenge at the Utah Diva’s site.  Real Red, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Peach Parfait and Whisper White.  A pretty summer beach towel is this weeks inspiration.

I’m really happy with the way this card turned out.  I even wanted to use it for one of my classes this week – the only problem – I ran out of watercolor paper and the old paper that is on the last chance list is now sold out – so I have to wait until I can order from the new catalog and get the new watercolor paper – I think it is just the size that changed – it will be bigger pieces now.  So instead it will be part of a future class.

How do you like it?  It is very pretty in person.  The base is Certainly Celery and stamped with the En Francias stamp set.  Then a piece of Peach Parfait cut with the Big Shot and the Top Note die.  I cut a scallop circle with the Big Shot out of Real Red card stock and then cut an Old Olive circle using my Circle Scissor – it is about 2-3/4.    I stamped the flowers from the On the Grow stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Summer mini catalog using StazOn Black ink onto Watercolor paper.  I punched it out with the 2-1/2″ circle punch.  I watercolored using my aquapainter – the leaves first in Certainly Celery and then add Old Olive in the shadows.  The flowers are Peach Parfait and the centers are Real Red.  The fun part is the jar – I covered it with Crystal Effects so it looks like real glass.

You do want to let that dry real good and don’t touch or you’ll end up with a fingerprint in it.  Then I poked two holes and added the linen thread around the mouth of the jar.  There is also Linen Thread wrapped around the card base.  Yep – I like it!

Introducing Wisteria Wonder

I am back from a week long vacation at the beach with all of Greg’s Family.  We did good this year with the sunscreen and no real sunburns to speak of – yeah!  We alternated beach days with shopping days at the outlet malls – and yes I have lots of new clothes!  I’m not much of a shopper but Greg’s sister and mom have convinced me over the years that I need to buy new clothes when we are all together.  Aspen and Magnolia were very glad to be back home when I picked them up today. We are actually getting a little practice at what it will be like to have two boys away at college.  Only Ryan came back home with us from the beach.  Kyle and Tyler went home with my nephew and will spend the week with him.

I did some ghost posting while we were gone and hope to be back to a normal daily schedule this week.  I wanted to start introducing you to the new In-Colors that Stampin’ Up! added to our collection this year.  These 5 new In-Colors will be around for 2 years – July 2011 – June 2013.  The current 5 In-Colors are still here for another year until June 2012 – I’m glad because I wasn’t ready to give some of them up yet.  So here is the first of the new In-Colors – this one is called Wisteria Wonder –

It is a new shade of purple.  I wanted to show you how it compares to some of our other purples so I added the pennants in different colors (that’s a new punch by the way).  From left to right it is Wisteria Wonder, Concord Crush, Elegant Eggplant, and Perfect Plum.  I used my cute little Build-A-Bear girl to introduce this color to you.  Her dress is water-colored in Wisteria Wonder and the large scallop circle is also Wisteria Wonder.  There is also a sneak peek of a new stamp set (Pennant Parade) and another of the In-Colors (Lucky Limeade).

I also wanted to remind everyone that my Card Maker’s Club is this week on Wednesday night.  If you plan to attend please go to my website and RSVP.  This club is open to everyone and it’s all about making cards.  The club will meet on the last Wednesday of the month from 7-9:30pm.   Bring a list of cards that you need for the month of July – birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, thinking of you – whatever you might need.  Each club meeting will be $15 and you will make 6 cards with envelopes.  If time permits you can make additional cards for $2 each – so you make as many as you need in the time of the class.  And you can choose which cards you want to make and how many – there will be at least 10 different card choices.  And card designs will be available for more than one month – so you can come back to make more or make some that you didn’t get to the last time.  This should give you flexibility to create what you need each month.

Please bring adhesive – if you’d like me to order Stampin’ Up! Snail Adhesive, Snail refill, or Tombow Multipurpose glue to have on hand for you please let me know before the class.

BYOB – I will provide a small snack.  I think it will be fun and I hope you will join me.

I have a lot going on during the month of July so my class schedule will be a little different – I’ll update all of my classes on my website some time today.  Thanks for stopping by today!

More Scrapbooking – Time Together

I hope you aren’t getting sick of the scrapbook layouts.  I guess I saved them all up to show at one time.  This next one is a layout that I made this month.  After I made the clock card using the Sense of Time stamp set and the Faux Mother of Pearl technique I decided I wanted to use that on a scrapbook page too.  So that is what I did.  The actual layout idea was from my friend Wendy Randall.  She is so talented when it comes to scrapbook layouts.  I often go back through the ones I have from her and use the layout again for a completely different idea – changing colors, stamps, and themes.    The title I used on this layout is TIME TOGETHER –

As is typical – I don’t have any pictures on this one yet.  Looking at it later there is one thing I am changing – and that is the “TIME” on the left page is too light – it is in Crumb Cake – so I’m planning to switch it to be the Soft Suede card stock.  There are several Last Chance List items on this layout – Sense of Time stamp set, Define Your Life stamp set, Elegant Soriee Designer Series paper, and the Cogs Punch.

The base is Crumb Cake and there is a strip of Baja Breeze.  I stamped the gears from the Sense of Time stamp set randomly around the corners.  The strips of DSP are cut and then torn at the bottom and arranged at different angles on the page. And tacked down with a brad at the torn end on the bottom.

The clock face is the Faux Mother of Pearl technique – you can see how to do this by going to my card post from a few days ago – click here .

The large circle and the cogs are cut from Soft Suede card stock.  There is also an antique brad in the center of the clock.

The right hand page is pretty much the same.  The circle has the rest of the title cut with the Big Shot and the Billboard Sizzlit Strip die.  The circle is tied with some Very Vanilla seam binding and Linen Thread.

From the Define Your Life stamp set I used the definition for the word “Together” punched with the Decorative Label punch.

I like the Faux Mother of Pearl technique and just finished 105 3×3 swaps for convention!  I used that technique and one of the new In-Colors called Pool Party and a new stamp set from the catalog.  Next week I’ll show you some sneak peeks and the new In-Colors.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Wonderful Mother Scrapbook Layout

Today I wanted to share a scrapbook layout that I made last month.  It is the Mother’s Day layout that we made along with the Father’s Day layout I posted a few days ago.

This is a two-page 12×12 layout.  The background is Chocolate Chip and along the bottom I stamped with Early Espresso the grass from Inspired by Nature stamp set and the flowers from Just Believe stamp set.  Then I sponged along the bottom to blend everything together.

On the left page is my title that I stamped using the Wonderful Favorites stamp set that is on the Stampin’ Up! Last Chance list.

The flowers are all die cut using the Big Shot die-cut magazine using several different dies – Fun Flowers Bigz XL die, Flower Daisies #2 Bigz die, Flower Fusion Sizzlits dies, and Birds & Blooms Sizzlits dies.  The Birds & Blooms Sizzlits are on the Last Chance list too.

The colors I used are Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Poppy Parade, and Peach Parfait.   There is lots of doodling all over the flowers, the stems (oh – those are free hand cut from Pear Pizzazz card stock), also around the frames and the journaling blocks.  Some of the flowers are also stamped, sponged or embossed with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  A few flowers have brads in their centers.

The idea came from a page I saw in a scrapbook magazine.  I thought it turned out really fun and bright and cheery.  It could really be used for all sorts of things besides mother’s day.  Just change the title to suit your needs…..
