Tags Til Christmas

Hi all – I hope you weekend is off to a good start.  I had a super lazy morning – slept in – I really needed that.  Lounged around, checked some emails, played Angry Birds, and did a bit of nothing.  But now I am showered and dressed and ready to get on with the day.  And since I have been neglecting my blog a little bit I thought I would start my day here.

Today I have some tags to show you – we will be making these at my hands on class this coming Friday – if you’d like to come to class please email me – my website is down right now so you can’t rsvp there.  Hopefully Stampin’ Up! will get that fixed soon.

The idea for these tags came from a non-SU crafting blog that I follow. I just adapted the ideas to use all Stampin’ Up! products.

Class will be on Friday, December 16th at 10 am and also at 7 pm.  This is just one of the things we will be making.  That’s all for now.

not enough hours, not enough sleep

The last few days have gotten away from me.  Not enough hours in the day to get what I needed to do done, which results in not enough sleep, which means I am tired.  And the thing that doesn’t get done is posting to my blog (well other things too).  So no post yesterday and not really one today either but I will plan to get some things out here this weekend and next week too.  I have lots of things I have been working on for my classes so I do have things to share.  It just takes time to photograph, edit, and write the blog posts.  And today I am cold and when my hands are cold I really just want to put them in a warm place like my pockets and it’s hard to work when your hands are in your pockets, and wearing gloves doesn’t work either (really I have tried that before).

So enough of that rambling – there is no project or picture for you today – but I wanted to share a few more of the daily Christmas Activities with you from my Counting Down to Christmas project from last weekend’s blog hop.

Dec. 8th – Make Holiday Ornaments – I have ornament ideas on my blog that you can search for – did you know there is a search option on my blog – yep – it is in the right hand side-bar and just fill in a key word and it will pull up all the blog posts with that in it.  Or you can look by category – those are in a drop-down box.  I don’t have an ornament category but I do have a Christmas category.  I have an ornament idea that I will try to get to this weekend and share with you later.

Dec. 9th – Decorate a Gingerbread House.  We used to do this every year as kids.  My dad was a baker – he owned a German Bakery and Gingerbread Houses were a big deal at Christmas time.  Our whole house would be covered in them – my dad baked all the gingerbread and then my mom decorated them and they sold them in his bakery.  He is retired for a long time now so we don’t do that any more.  When my boys were little they would go make Gingerbread houses with Oma & Opa every year.  Now that they are older I’m not sure they are interested so  much.  I wonder if Ryan and his girlfriend would make one this weekend when she comes over – I should go buy all the stuff so they can.  That would be fun.  I better add that to my shopping list (that’s one of those things that didn’t get done the last few days).

And I’ll go ahead and give you the next one too –

Dec. 10th – Bake Christmas Cookies – that would be fun too – for Ryan and his girlfriend to do.  I think I better add to my shopping list.  What kind of cookies should we make this year?  Oh I know – Sweet Pressed Cookie stamp cookies – that’s what they can do.  I made some of those when i got my stamps.  I have wanted to try them with a snicker-doodle recipe and see how it works.

That’s it for now.  And wait – one more IMPORTANT thing – have you ever wanted to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator?  Do you want to get your Stampin’ Up! products at a discount?  I have a super duper special to offer you for only TWO DAYS – so let me know right away so I can give you the details.  This special offer will be available to anyone that wants to join my team only on Dec. 13 and 14 so hurry and email me that you are interested and I can tell you all about it – [email protected].

Have a great rest of the day!

Fabric Stocking Treat

I have another cute holiday idea for you.  This was designed by Laree and she brought these to swap at our last demonstrator meeting.

She used the Holly Berry Bouquet designer fabric and the Holiday Stocking Bigz die to make this cute little stocking.  Both are in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog.  The Big Shot works great for cutting the fabric.  There is a little trim on the cuff using the crochet ribbon.  And then Laree made a flower out of the wide striped ribbon – a shabby vintage style flower with frayed ends.  And then there is a button in the center.  The hanger is made from ribbon and inside she had little treats.

It is a cute stocking don’t you think!

Here are a couple more daily activities for you to do with your family:

Dec. 6th – Watch Christmas Movies -what is your favorite?  Elf or Home Alone, It’s a Wonderful Life, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, there are many more.  check your Family channel on the TV to see what’s playing each day.

Dec. 7th – See the Nutcracker Ballet – we took the boys to the FOX theater in Atlanta quite a few years ago to see the Nutcracker.  I’m not sure they’ll go with me now that they are teenagers but I may try to do this instead – Celebrate the holidays with a timeless classic as NCM Fathom, the New York City Ballet and Lincoln Center present George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™ LIVE in movie theaters nationwide for a special One Night Event on Tuesday, December 13th at 6:00pm ET/5:00pm CT/7:30pm MT/7:30pm PT.

Have fun with whatever you decide to do!

Blog Candy Winner

And the winner of the Blog Candy is……..

I guess #13 was lucky for Eileen.  Congratulations!

Thank you to everyone for all of the nice comments. I normally try to respond to them but there were too many from the blog hop.  I did read them all and appreciate your comments.

Eileen – I need you to email me with your mailing address so your blog candy can be sent to you.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog.

Cookie Mix Jar

This is a gift idea that Becky shared with us at the PAWS meeting in November.  It is a Cookie Mix Jar –

Fill a large jar with the dry ingredients for a cookie mix.  Wrap a piece of fabric around the lid and tie with some ribbon.  Add a quick tag with the recipe inside.  The person that you give this too just needs to add the remaining ingredients, mix and bake – yummy cookies for everyone!  You could pair this idea with the new Sweetpressed Cookie Stamps for a complete gift – the stamps have two recipes included.

Becky used the Deck the Halls fabric and Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding.  The tag is cut with the Big Shot and the Two Tags die and one of the Snowflakes from the Northern Frost Decorative Strip Sizzlit die to decorate the front.   This would be another fun activity to do with the kids and a great gift for teachers or neighbors.

So what did you think about the Up on the Roof Top Blog Hop this weekend?  What were your favorite projects?  I think my favorite ones were the wine tags that Rosemarie Diehl made and the Christmas Mantle Decor that Tara Bilbo made – but there were many other great projects on the tour.  I have a list of a handful that I want to try to make.    Since mine was a Countdown to Christmas I thought I might add the activities on my blog each day.  These are activities to do with your family each day.  So to catch up here are the first few days of activities that I have picked (my project tutorial includes 36 different ones for you to choose from) –

December 1st – Write a Letter to Santa.  Make sure the kids write it and put it in the mail box.

December 2nd – Make Pinecone Ornaments for the birds.  The birds can enjoy them all month long.  I have had lots of birds the last week or so – a bunch of blue birds were here over the weekend and they were checking out some of the bird houses too – maybe some early house hunting go on.

December 3rd – Look at Christmas photos from past years.  I love to do this and see how much the boys have grown and changed.

December 4th – Wrap Holiday gifts.  I have a few things to wrap but mostly I still have shopping to do.  I think I need to do this one a little bit later.

December 5th – Decorate the Christmas Tree.  We bought the tree last night and we plan to decorate tonight.  Since we have the new sunroom we are putting it out there this year.  I’ll take a picture once it is done.

If you would like to see my project with the activity cards it is on this post.

Have a great day!  I’ll have the Blog Hop Blog Candy Prize winner posted tomorrow so be sure to check back.
