First Day of School – a different perspective

Everyone has probably had their first day of school now.  I counted for us we have had the first day of school 17 times now – that’s 17 years since Kyle started Kindergarten.  And my thoughts on the first day of school are not the same now as they were way back then.  Kyle has gone back to college (he is now working on a Master’s degree) and left lots of stuff in his room and a closet so jam packed with stuff you couldn’t get anything in or out.  So I decided to take everything out of the closet and hopefully get rid of some stuff and reorganize it a minimum.  After pulling everything out I took a picture.  Later in the day I created a scrapbook page and decided to use that picture along with my thoughts on the first day of school now.  I’m usually terrible about journaling but I’m trying to learn to be better – I need to remember to journal as though I’m talking to someone – telling someone a story or answering a question.  So this page is mostly about the journaling.

2013 Family Book-010

The My Digital Studio Elements I used on this page include

  • See Ya Next Year Designer Kit
  • Days to Remember Designer Kit
  • Epic Overlays stamp brush set
  • Storytime Designer Kit
  • Square Punch

I counted the books that I found in Kyle’s room when I sorted them yesterday – 180 – and there could be more hidden that I haven’t come across yet.  Now to decide what to tackle next – the games or the computer parts.

I also submitted this page in the My Digital Studio Challenge (although it might have been late – unless they extended the deadline) – go give it a like and leave me a comment – maybe I can win the challenge.  Here is the link for you.

Enjoy the day!

Another one

Yep – I have another one.  Another Washi Tape note card to share.  It wasn’t part of the Washi Tape class though.

This one is really easy

  • start with one of the note cards (envelopes are included)
  • stamp a greeting near the bottom of the card – I used Island Indigo ink and the A Dozen Thoughts stamp set
  • Add some Washi tape – I used the Gingham Garden collection
  • Punch butterflies from Daffodil Delight card stock – I used the Elegant Butterfly punch and the Bitty Butterfly punch
  • Finish with a candy dot in the middle of the layered butterfly

I hope someone made your day today.  I had lunch with some friends – Sue, Jennifer and Jeannette and little Shelby.   And tonight I’m off for an evening with more friends – it’s Pokeeno night!

Clear Case Mini Scrapbook

Prior to attending convention I went to a retreat at my upline’s house in Utah.  Wendy and her husband and family are always the best hosts.  The girls stamp and craft and Ted cooks and serves us – it is so nice to be pampered this way!  Everyone that attends the retreat brings a WOW project to share with everyone.  The project that Wendy shared with us was a fun mini scrapbook inside one of our Clear Stamp set cases.  I created an alternate version of this project for my stamp clubs in August.

I-am-Me-Scrapbook-case

Some of the main products used for this mini scrapbook

  • I am Me Designer Series paper
  • Around the World stamp set
  • Happy Day stamp set
  • Square Framelits dies to create Polaroid style photo frames
  • Epic Day Washi Tape

scrapbook-inside

page-4-5I like that the scrapbook is inside the clear case because you can close it up and stick it in your purse or bag and not worry about any of the pages getting messed up.

Thanks for stopping by!

Where’s the Washi Tape?

I have one final card for you from my Washi Tape class.  And when you see this card you might ask – Where’s the Washi Tape?

Well there isn’t actually any Washi Tape on the card itself but I did use Washi Tape to make the card.

So here is what you do –

  • get a piece of Washi Tape – I seem to have one roll out of my pack that I don’t use much so that is the one I used for this project
  • get out your ink – I’m using Daffodil Delight in these samples
  • Put the Washi Tape in the ink tape-in-ink
  • Then pull it uplift-out-of-ink
  • Put the inked Washi tape on your card stock put-on-paper
  • Then pull it back up lift-off-paper
  • Repeat with another piece of tape and a new color – Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz are on my card.

After you create the back ground then stamp over with the image – I used Black StazOn for mine.

I did the same on the corner of the envelope to make it match.  And if you get a smudge on your card (like I did) just add another stripe of color over the smudge – you’ll never see it after that.

We actually made one more thing in my Washi Tape class – we decorated one of the Tag-a-Bag Boxes to hold all the Washi Tape.  It holds all 12 rolls that Stampin’ Up! has – 4 sets with 3 designs in each set.  But I must not have taken a picture of it so I can’t show that one right now.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed all of the Washi Tape projects.
