Animal Talk Window Card

When I saw the Animal Talk stamp set in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog I thought it was really cute.  It was in my first order and I’ve been using it in my classes this month.  I call this one a window card because there is a hole punched through the top layer and you see the stamped image on the second layer through the “window”.  I thought this would be a fun style with this set since there was an image stamp and a corresponding phrase stamp with each image.

I also got to use the new Piercing Templates – I know I’m going to love those.  I used our largest circle punch which just happens to match the largest piercing circle on the template – its a “perfect match” – like they say in the Haverty’s commercial.   There are a couple of other new things on this card – the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper – this is a fun paper pack and I know I’m going to use it a lot.  And the 1/4″ stitched ribbon in Early Espresso.

I hope you like it. I’m planning to make a whole set using the different images/phrases in the Animal Talk stamp set and making them for convention swaps – so I probably won’t share the rest until convention.

Did you see the thermometer?  It’s rising!  I’m almost at the top.  The thermometer show the orders that I have already placed.  Then I have a hand full of people to follow up with that said they would order.  If they all come through with a $55 order that should put me within about $800 of earning the Get-a-way trip!  So I only need to find a few more people this week – it’s going to happen – I can feel it.  Yippee!  If your not sure what I’m talking about then read here.

Cindy and I are having our make up class for the My Digital Studio Club today.  Saturday’s class was lots of fun and today’s will be too.

I hope you do something fun today!

Betsy’s Blossom

Today is my In-Color Class – we are making 5 projects featuring the new Stampin’ Up! In-Colors – Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple.   The morning class was lots of fun and I’m looking forward to my second class later this evening.  I haven’t had a chance to photograph any of the projects yet.  But I am showing you another In-Color themed card that I made earlier this week for a different class.

This card uses the Raspberry Ripple card stock base and then a layer of Whisper White.  The main stamp set is Betsy’s Blossom and the words are from Petite Pairs.  I used Gumball Green for the branch; Midnight Muse for the bird – which is cut out and popped up on a dimensional; Raspberry Ripple for the words; and Primrose Petals for the little flowers.  I finished the card with a piece of the new stitched ribbon.  Over all it was a quick card.

I’ll share the actual projects from my class next week.  I’m having fun playing with the new In-Colors – and right now my favorite is still the Summer Starfruit and second the Midnight Muse.  What are you favorites?

I’ll probably offer the class as a To-Go class option – I’ll write up instructions and get the projects photographed.  I’ll decide before the weekend ends if it makes sense to do that.  And post the details if it does.

I also wanted to let you know that Stampin’ Up! has announced the Artisan Design Team finalists on their Facebook page.  And while I did submit and entry I was not selected as a finalist.  I do know some of the finalists or know their work and they are talented ladies so I’m sure the entries must have been amazing!!  I can’t wait to see them.  I’m hoping they show all the entries at convention but we’ll have to see if they do.  When I entered a couple of years ago they did have all but one of my projects on display – so I’ll be on the look out for them.

Thank you to Sue and Denean for their orders.  Every order helps me get closer no matter what size it is.  Thank you guys! Since the race for the Artisan Contest is over now I have to keep pushing to earn this incentive trip – I need about 20 more people to place $55 orders and I have about 8 days left – yikes!  Read more here.  Thank you to everyone that is helping – this will be an amazing accomplishment for me.  I love you guys!

Yeah the weekend is here!  And tomorrow we’ll be playing with MDS again for our MDS club – I can’t wait.

Using a Sketch

I do like to use sketches to create a card or scrapbook page.  Recently I made a card using one of the sketches from Create with Connie & Mary – it is an older one from a few weeks ago.  The card I ended up with looks like this

I used the new In-Color Primrose Petals for the base, then a layer of Chocolate Chip – I cut it with the Scallop Edgelit and embosses it with the matching Accent Folder – actually I did the embossing part first and then cut – that is easier for me to get it lined up.  You can’t see it real well in the photo but I used the set Creative Elements to stamp in the background behind the flower.

The flower is cut from the Floral District Designer paper – I used the Fun Flowers Bigz Die and the Big Shot for the largest petals, the smaller petals are the blossom punch – 3 layers and then I snipped in between the little scallops on the petals.  In the center is one of the new Naturals Designer Buttons – they look like wood – I threaded some Linen Thread through the holes.  And tied some around the card layer – I love my Linen thread.

Finally I added a tag – stamp set Four Frames and Teeny Tiny Wishes – punches with the Decorative Label punch.

here is what the sketch looked like –

A sketch is a good place to start when you are creating – it maps out where to place your elements.  Then you play around with your design, your stamp sets, your papers and punches until you get something in the end that you are happy with.

I have more people to thank for placing orders – Debbie, Sherrie, Alicia, Candis, and Pam.  Every order helps me get closer no matter what size it is.  Thank you guys!  I speeding along to 55 orders –  Read more here.

Today was an animal kind of day – I came home from exercising and found a turtle in the road right near the house.  I didn’t want him to get run over so I went out to get him and move him on across the street.  Well he was not happy about that – did you know turtles make a hissing sound?  I moved him anyway so a car wouldn’t run him over. Then I keep hearing banging on the window – and Aspen hears it to and goes and barks – its a bluebird – I’m wondering if he is trying to get bugs from the spider webs that are in the corner of the windows – there are lots of them – I guess I need to do something about that but spraying them with a hose doesn’t really get them to come off.  Then I began to wonder if the bluebirds built another nest in the bird house – so I decided to check. Sure enough they built a nest while we were gone on vacation and when I checked this morning – guess what – there are 3 eggs inside!  I don’t think I have had a nest this late before – spring is over and summer is here now.  Oh and one more thing – there were a bunch of robins in the yard today – and I noticed a little moth flitting about – the moth landed on the fern near one of the robins – the robins popped up and snatched it and had a yummy breakfast.  Poor moth.  Anyway those are my animal stories for today.

Have a great day!

My Digital Studio – Yum, Yum

It’s Tuesday – so it’s My Digital Studio day.  I made this page earlier this year – it was part of Heather’s first MDS online class.  When i saw her page I remembered these pictures that I took one summer where we went and got shakes at Johnny Rockets.  These were taken at Barefoot Landing in 2003.  This summer we were back at Barefoot Landing (Myrtle Beach area in South Carolina) but we did not go to the Johnny Rockets – I don’t even remember if it was still there – the area has a lake in the middle and this year we didn’t cross the bridges like we normally do.  We did stop for some ice cream – I’ll need to scrapbook those pictures soon.

Stampin’ Up! released some new My Digital Studio digital downloads today and I saw on Facebook that the MDS 2 coming later this year is going to include the option to get a list of everything you used on your page just a t the press of the button – yeah!  That will make it super easy to tell you what is on the page.

For this page I used elements from the Sweet Shop downloads that came out in the last mini catalog.

You can see all the available Digital Downloads on my website.

The thermometer is rising!  Thanks to Leishman and Nicole for helping.  I have about half of the 55 orders either placed or coming in still so we are half way there!   But time is running out the 30th is approaching quickly –  if you want to help me earn my first incentive trip –  Read more here.

I got up and exercised this morning, went outside and watered the plants and picked blueberries!  That’s a good start to a day – right?

Now I’m getting ready for my card class tonight at KSU – I’m looking forward to seeing the girls tonight.

Have a great day!

Happy Birthday

I made this card for an old Color Challenge on the Create with Connie and Mary site (there is a link in my side bar if you want to see what is happening on their site – preview week for their new class just ended).  The colors were Basic Black, Real Red, and Pool Party plus a neutral – I chose Whisper White.

It’s a pretty clean and simple card – I used an image from the Every Little Bit stamp set – the gumball machine is perfect in Real Red, and then i colored all the gumballs with the Pool Party Stampin’ Write Marker – I’m so glad Stampin’ Up! has markers for the In-colors.  The image is punched with the 1″ circle punch, then layered on two more circles in Pool Party and Real Red.  I stamped the happy birthday and colored it in with the markers.  I used the Real Red Marker and the piercing mat to add the dotted frame around the card front.

I hope you like it.

I’m still looking for more $55 orders to help me earn my first incentive trip.  Read more here.  Watch the thermometer rise on the side of my blog!

Have a great day!
