Mosaic Madness – Fast Friends

Well apparently I took a few days off from posting to my blog.  I didn’t actually mean to do that.

So this week I thought I would share some Mosaic Madness with you.  The Mosaic Madness stamp set and the Mosaic punch are becoming fast friends when it comes to making these cards – they fit perfectly together.  And in case you missed it in the catalog – these two are offered as a Bundle and that means you get to save 15% when you order them together.  There are lots of bundles through out the catalog – so keep your eyes out for them.

It does become a bit of a problem though when you go to do a class at someone’s house and you forget to bring the punch!  Yikes!  I didn’t mean to do that either.  But we made do.  The stamp set is equally good friends with the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder!

in-color-mosiac-madness

Here is the card featuring all the new In-Colors.

  • The base is Baked Brown Sugar.
  • A layer of Whisper White embossed with the Big Shot and the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder.
  • The stamped images are Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Baked Brown Sugar.  All from Mosaic Madness and punched with the Mosaic punch.  The are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting is from Petite Pairs – which is on sale 25% off this month!!
  • I tied some Linen Thread around to finish it off.

I was really happy with the way this card turned out and that I was able to include all of the new In-Colors on it.  I attached the punched out pieces to the embossed layer and then trimmed those that hung over the edge prior to attaching it to the card base.

So in case your wondering what we did without the punch – we stamped the images directly on the embossed layer.  Not quite the same dimension but still a great card.  I didn’t keep one to show you though.

I have more to share using these Mosaic Madness items so be sure to come back throughout the week.

In Color Food Recipes

Here are the recipes I used for my In-Color Inspired food that I served at the New Catalog Open House.

Strawberry-Slush

Strawberry Slush

STRAWBERRY SLUSH

When I searched I didn’t really find what I wanted for a strawberry slush – there were many different recipes out there but I decided to come up with my own instead.  So this is what I created:

  1. Put about 2 scoops of Strawberry Sorbet in a small plastic cup
  2. Add Sprite to the cup
  3. Stir with a spoon until it is all slushie
  4. Add a few fresh sliced strawberries to the top
  5. put in the freezer until ready to serve
  6. I served them with short straws and also with a spoon (for those that wanted to scoop instead of sip)

Pistachio Pudding Cake

Pistachio Pudding Cake

PISTACHIO PUDDING Cake

I found this recipe on Pinterest.  It looks like it originated from the Jello company.

Ingredients

  • 18 1/4 ozs cake mix (yellow) -( my box was smaller than this one)
  • 1 package instant pudding (serving size jell o pistachio flavor, pie filling)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 7 drops food coloring (green)
  • 2 tbsps powdered sugar (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place all ingredients except powdered sugar in large bowl. Beat with electric mixer on low speed 1 minute. Beat on medium speed 4 minutes.  (I mixed all mine by hand)
  2. Pour into greased and floured 10-inch fluted tube or tube pan.
  3. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 15 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar just before serving. (I actually forgot the powdered sugar – oops).

Baked Brown Sugar Brie Cups

BAKED BROWN SUGAR Brie Cups

This is another one I found on Pinterest.  On my pinterest page it links to a blog and she has some pictures for each step.

Baked Brown Sugar Pecan & Brie Bites

  • Phyllo dough sheets
  • Brie, cubed into half inch pieces
  • Pecans
  • Brown Sugar
  • Honey

1.) Lightly spray a mini muffin tin with cooking spray.

2.) Cut phyllo dough into 1 1/2 inch squares. (mine were more like rectangles – I didn’t measure them)

3.) I used about 4-5 layers (or it could have been more just put some in each cup) of dough for each tart and pressed it into the muffin tin. Lightly spray the dough with cooking spray so it doesn’t burn.

4.) Place a cube of brie in each piece of dough.

5.) Top each one with 1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon pecans and a little drop of honey.

6.) Bake at 375 degrees until cheese is melted and dough is golden brown. I think it was maybe 10 minutes.

7.) Let them cool for a few minutes before removing them from the pan. I used a spoon to help me lift them out without breaking the shells.

Enjoy.  I thought they were perfect for my Stampin’ Up! party.

Stampin’ Up! In-Color Food! and Open House Winner!

Yes!  This weekend I had my New Catalog Open House and I served food based on Stampin’ Up!s brand new In-Colors.  I thought it was a fun idea and I tried some new recipes too.  I think the food was a hit and the new colors too!

in-color-samplesHere are the five new In-Colors – these will be around for the next 2 years – Baked Brown Sugar, Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Coastal Cabana.  Patty Bennett shared a flyer that she created in My Digital Studio and I printed it out – 4 per sheet – put it together with a piece of each color in a clear envelope to make a sample for everyone to take home.

Now I didn’t come up with a “food” for Coastal Cabana so I used it for the accents and if I had the time to go back to the store I would have looked for napkins and plates in that color – but time ran short.  I did mix up some water with blueberry lemonade flavor – so it was slightly blue and some tropical flavored skittles.  And here is the rest…

baked-brown-sugarFirst up yummy BAKED BROWN SUGAR Brie cups.  These were quick to make – I made them right before everyone came and popped them in the oven – easy and yummy.

Crisp-CanteloupeCrisp Cantaloupe – yep the easy one – just cut it up – but I did actually find a recipe for Cantaloupe Popsicle’s – I didn’t have a chance to try it but they looked interesting.

Pistachio Pudding Cake

Pistachio Pudding Cake

I never even knew there was such a thing but I found a PISTACHIO PUDDING Cake recipe.  It was good.  Looks like something fun to make on St. Patrick’s day too.

Strawberry-SlushAnd yummy STRAWBERRY SLUSH cups – and this wasn’t from a recipe either – I ended up making something up since I couldn’t find anything.  These were super easy to make and I thought they turned out great.  And the potential to add a little something to them for an adults only beverage would work too :).

It was a fun afternoon at my open house.  And for everyone that placed an order the names were put in a random drawing for free Stampin’ Up! products.  Tyler picked the winner and drum roll please…….

The winner is……

Thanks for stopping by.  Oh – I’ll post the recipes tomorrow.
