Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat – 9/27 – 9/29

It’s almost time for our next Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat – September 27th – 29th, 2013.

Are you ready to get away from it all?  Leave behind the family, the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning and come join us for a fun Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat.  Our theme is “Tackle the Holidays!”.

Join us at Monika’s House September 27 – 29, 2013.  The fun starts on Friday and lasts until Sunday.  We have Make & Take projects planned as part of the retreat – everyone will receive a Goody Bag with supplies and extras.  There are optional projects that you can add.  And bring whatever create projects you would like to work on.  You will have table space set up for the whole weekend – so bring your scrapbooking, card making, knitting, laptop for My Digital Studio, bring your sewing machine if you want to sew – the choice is yours.

We plan to feed you and pamper you with little surprises throughout the weekend!  Games & Prizes too!

I have some space in my house if you want to spend the night here instead of going home or there is a hotel one exit south just a few minutes away..  Earliest to register gets first choice on where they sleep – I have a couple of Queen beds upstairs, a queen and single sleeper sofa in the basement, some sofa space, and some air beds for the floor.   Or stay as late as you want in the evening – go sleep at home and come back in the morning!

We will send out a schedule and list of what you need to bring in early September.  A non-refundable deposit of $25 is due with your registration form by August 30th – this holds your spot.  We will be ordering supplies after the deposits are received.  The remainder of the money is due by September 15th.

There are also some Optional Projects – payment for those is due on August 30th so we can order supplies.

Spots are LIMITED – we are only opening this event up to 15 people!  So reserve your spot today!

Registration form is HERE.

3 Make & Take projects included in your registration fee plus these Optional Projects  can be added on  –

Fran used the Specialty Designer Paper in the Holiday catalog and it has foil in the design which seemed to cause me some issues with trying to get the photo edited.  Sorry it isn’t a great picture of it.

My swap card was the Animal Talk card with the Circle Thinlit dies I posted last week.

For the Birds Scrapbook Layout

bird-closeup-2

Today I’m going to share a traditional scrapbook layout.  It’s a very spring looking layout.  But outside today we are having a very fall like day.  It’s August in Georgia and we didn’t even reach 70 degrees – the news said it has been a decade since we have had an August day with temperatures this low.

Now on to the scrapbook layout…..

with-you-bird-layout

This layout idea came from Wendy Randall – she made hers last spring uses papers and embellishments from the Stampin’ Up! spring catalog.  I changed it to use the Epic Day This & That Designer paper – it was a great pack of paper to use for the layout since it had the greens and blues in it plus some neutrals – Crumb Cake & Basic Gray and a pop of color with the Daffodil Delight.  All of these were perfect colors to use with the For the Birds stamp set.

The images from the For the Birds stamp set were stamped with Black Stazon ink and then water-colored with an aqua-painter and the ink colors.  Then each image was cut out.  I didn’t use the words except for one phrase for the bottom of the layout.

bird-quoteThe layout is all ready for photos.  I hope you like it!

I think I may make some cards with this stamp set and colors – I really like the combination.

Animal Talk Circle Thinlits Card

circle-framelit-Animal-TalkLook at this fun card I made using the new Stampin’ Up! Circle Card Thinlits dies!

I decided to turn mine on it’s side for a different look – what do you think?

This was the swap card that I made for my PAWS team meeting last Saturday.  I loved how it turned out.  Here are some details for you.

  • card base is Bermuda Bay – cut to use with the Circle Card Thinlits die – and run right through using the Magnetic Plate and Big Shot.  Then just fold on the score lines and your card is ready to decorate!
  • Add a strip of Birthday Basics Designer Series paper – I did use the Thinlits die to cut it so the circle cut would match up to the card base.
  • Add a strip of Gumball Green card stock.
  • Stamp greeting on bottom of card
  • Stamp Gorgeous Grunge images on top portion of card and lower right hand corner in Bermuda Bay ink
  • Stamp the dog image from Animal Talk on Very Vanilla card stock – I used markers to color the stamp so I would have it in three different colors – Gumball Green, Bermuda Bay and Basic Gray.  I cut these out with the Circle Framelits die.
  • I punched coordinating circles using the 2-1/2″ circle punch – one in Gumball Green and one in Summer Starfruit.
  • Layer the circles and attach one to the circle of the card and one to the flip side.
  • animal-talk-3The final addition was the Cotton Ribbon – I cut a strip in half and then cut away the finished edge on the other side. I wanted it to be frayed.  Tied it around the card in a knot.

Enjoy!
