One Fall Day Scrapbook Layout

It has been a long time since I shared a scrapbook layout – it was August!  I was working on my class reminder email for the scrapbook class this week and wanted to add a picture and realized I didn’t have any recent ones.  But I found some that we made in the last few months and took some quick photos so I could add to my email and decided to go ahead and post here on my blog today too.  This is a perfect layout for this time of year.

one-fall-day-layoutOne Fall Day

My yard is covered in falling leaves.  As soon as Greg cleans the yard the leaves are back.  Right now it’s a never ending battle.  And I can’t believe it is almost Thanksgiving!  Normally we travel to Virginia for at least the last 11 years.  But this year everyone will come here to our house and I’m going to attempt to cook a big turkey!

Here is a little more detail on the One Fall Day layout.

  • one-fall-daybackground is Sahara Sand card stock – drag the edges in a Chocolate Chip ink pad
  • cut squares from the Sweater Weather Designer Paper – draw doodle lines around all four sides with the Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Marker
  • Stamp the Magnificent Maple stamp on Very Vanilla card stock, sponge some color on the leaf and cut out. Make 2.
  • the title uses the Fabulous Phrases stamp set for the “one” and the “day” – stamp and punch those out.  FALL is cut with the Big Shot using the Typeset Alphabet dies.one-fall-day-title
  • to make the Chevron Design – I punched a piece of thin cardboard (what comes in the Designer Paper packs) using the Chevron Border punch to create a stencil – place the stencil on your background and use sponge daubers to sponge ink through the stencil. chevron-border-stencil
  • Add photo mats, additional die cut leaves and woodgrain buttons tied with Linen Thread.  one-fall-day-right
  • Add your fun fall photos to finish this layout!

Items from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog that I used on this layout include the Sweater Weather Designer paper, the Magnificent Maple stamp, Chevron Border Punch, and Truly Grateful stamp set.

Thanks for visiting my blog on this fall day!

Pennant Parade Christmas Tree

Here is an idea for a Christmas Card using one of our all occasion stamp sets.  It might not be one that you think of for creating Christmas.  It’s the Pennant Parade stamp set.

pennant-parade-CM6I got the idea from a swap card I received.   I wanted a woodsy feel to the card and to use traditional red and green.  Here are some notes on how I made this one.

  • Card Base is Real Red card stock
  • A piece of Early Espresso card stock embossed with the Woodgrain Embossing folder and the Big Shot and layered on a piece of Whisper White.
  • To make the tree I stamped the pennant image 3 times on Whisper White card stock and punched them out with the Petite Pennants Builder Punch. I took each edge of the punched piece and pulled it through my Old Olive ink pad so that the edges would be green.  And I used a Real Red marker to fill in the dots to look like garland.  Each piece was layered on a a piece of Old Olive card stock punch with the scallop pennants from the punch.
  • I stamped the pot on Whisper White card stock with Early Espresso ink and cut it out.  I glued that to the embossed wood layer.
  • Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the three pieces of the tree above the pot so they overlap one another to create a tree.
  • Stamp “merry” on a piece of Whisper White and punch out with the small oval punch.  The edge of the oval was pulled through the red ink pad.  Punch a small hole in the end of the oval and the corner of on tree section.  Use a Vintage Trinkets safety pin to attach the oval to the tree.
  • to finish tie a little box of Linen Thread on the safety pin.

This card will be one of the options at my Card Maker’s Class this coming week.  If you live in my area I hope you will join me.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card idea and come back again!

Today I thought I would share the swaps from my last team meeting.  Every other month we get together to share ideas, learn business tips and stamp of course.  It is a fun evening for demonstrators on my team and those in the area that need a team meeting to go to.  So if you are a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and you would like to attend my team meetings please let me know and I’ll add you to my Facebook group.  If you are not a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator (yet) and want to learn more about joining my team I’d love to talk to you about it!

Thanks is for Giving

Give thanks to those around you with this simple card.

Thanks-for-giving-CM9I actually created this card from leftovers of a Halloween card – see it here.

I just switched out the stamp that I used.  Here are the pieces and parts to make this card:

  • Cajun Craze card base
  • Old Olive card stock embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder and the Big Shot
  • Tie a piece of Old Olive ribbon around the card stock and tie in a knot
  • Using the Label Framelits cut a Cajun Craze label.
  • Use Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp image – I used Old Olive and Cajun Craze.  The stamp is from the Seasonal Sayings stamp set.  Stamp on Whisper White card stock.
  • Then cut out with the Label Framelits.  Use the Piercing Template, Pad and the Piercer to add the piercing around the label.

If you want it to be a faster card then leave out the piercing – that’s what takes the longest.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Tell Me Tuesday – 11/12/13

Well it works out well that I have a Tell Me Tuesday post because Stampin’ Up! has decided to do the same thing.  They are telling us each Tuesday all the things that are coming up – even though some may not start on that day.  So I think it will work out to be perfect timing.  Normally I’ll try my best to post much earlier in the day – today has been busy – I went out this morning to the post office – mailed team awards for the STARZ team and also two boxes of cards to FROM OUR HEARTS.  I had so much it took me about an hour – I think she suspended me atleast 3 times so we could let other people cut in to do their business.  I go to the small postal outlet in downtown Woodstock so there is just one person working there.  After that I ran to the grocery store and then home to wait on the window cleaners.  We are getting all the windows cleaned inside and outside plus the chandelier in the foyer.  Anyway since they have been here and working inside I have been keeping tabs on them and the dogs and haven’t had a chance to sit down at my computer until just now.
