I used my Welcome Spring Scrapbook layout to inspire a spring card for one of my card groups. I turned it into a Mother’s Day card but it doesn’t have to be.

Does it look familiar? I used the frame element with the flowers that I had on my scrapbook layout and put it on a card front. I used the same supplies as the scrapbook page just added the greeting stamp and the Flower Shop stamp set to decorate the envelope.
The flowers on the front are on Stampin’ Dimensionals as well as the frame. But the flower on the inside of the card is just glued flat. Here is a view from the side so you can see all the dimension in the card.

The girls loved this card. It is a little bulky for mailing but if you see your mom for Mother’s Day you can just hand it to her.
Thanks for stopping by!

We are in full spring mode around here and I’m so happy! I love spring! For my March scrapbook class I created this Welcome Spring two-page layout.

It features the Afternoon Tea Designer Series paper – I used it for the border and the flowers. This is such a pretty pack of paper that I had kind of overlooked in the catalog. It’s perfect for Spring and it may look a bit familiar – we had another pack in a past catalog with the same designs just a different color combination.
Let’s take a little closer look at this layout –
- The base is Soft Suede 12×12 card stock
- The Pear Pizzazz pieces are where your photos will go – either collage them or mat them or line them up all the way across the layout.
- The border along the bottom is made with the Banner punch that was in the Sale-A-Bration brochure – it will be returning in our next annual catalog – so keep your eye out for it. I punched pieces of the Afternoon Tea Designer Paper and randomly placed them along the bottom of the Pear Pizzazz pieces. Over the top is a piece of the Burlap Ribbon – I cut mine into 4 strips. I also added little flowers from the Punch Pack in the coordinating colors.

- I used the Pansy Punch was used to punch the flowers from the Designer paper and also from Pear Pizzazz card stock (those become the leaves underneath). Curl them all a little. Punch Soft Suede bitty flowers with the punch from the Punch Pack. Layer the flowers – a bitty flower, designer paper flower and card stock flower then use a paper piercer to put holes in the center and add a silver mini brad to each.
- Cut a frame with the On Film Framelits from Very Vanilla card stock for the left page. Tie a piece of Linen Thread around the side of the frame. I love Linen Thread.

- I used the Two-Step Bird punch to make the bird and branch. Sponge the Very Vanilla bird with Wisteria Wonder ink. And an eye with the Soft Suede marker. The branch is Pear Pizzazz. I used some strands from the burlap ribbon to put under the birds beak – like he is carrying straw to build a nest. Yeah – that’s what has been going on in my yard.
- On the right page there is a journaling tag. Use a 2″ strip of Very vanilla and punch with the Scallop Tag Topper punch. Add a piece of Pear Pizzazz ribbon tied on with Linen Thread. Add a strip of the designer paper and one of the flowers to the tag.

- Add the photos and journaling to finish the page.
Now I need to print some photos to put on my layout. I got some really good shots around the yard the last few days.

I have another bluebird update for you. I knew it would be any day that the baby bluebirds would fledge and as it turned out it was today – Saturday morning! I let Aspen out this morning and noticed the mom and dad bluebird chasing everybody out of the yard – the other birds and they even flew after Aspen. I noticed something rustling in the bushes so I got Aspen back in grabbed the camera and started watching. There was a little baby behind the bushes – she must have been the slow learner – so I spent the next little while watching her as she tried to fly. Here are some pictures.

baby 1 – out from behind the bushes hopping on the stones

baby 1 – trying out her wings

baby 1 – getting a little bit higher

baby 1 – I got up on the wall – now what?
She got down and spent some more time hopping through the bushes.

baby 1 – I got up on the fern – yeah me!

baby 1 – I made it up to the steps – hey I’m looking at you!

baby 1 – I’m going to get up these steps – I know I can – I know I can.

baby 1 – here I go up the steps!

baby 1 – mommy I found you! I’m trying mommy did you see me?
That was the journey of baby nbr 1 as I watched. I also found the other babies up in the trees here are some pictures of them.

baby 2 up in the tree

baby3 in the tree – mom was feeding it

baby 3 and mom up in the tree

baby 4 – this one is much bluer than the others.
I hope you enjoyed watching these babies from eggs to now! Now to watch for a new nest and another set of eggs to come.

I sat outside today for a long time so that I could take pictures of the Bluebirds. The babies are big and just about ready to leave. I can’t open the nest box anymore to look inside so these are all from outside. I got some good ones though. I hope you like them.

One of the bluebird babies peeking out of the house. “Hey what’s out there?”

One of the babies again. I imagine them standing on each other trying to look out of the hole. “it’s my turn – let me get on your head now”

Supermom! Shooting back out of the house! I can’t believe I got this picture!

mom and dad bluebird sitting on the house
I thought I got some great pictures today. They were pretty active. Dad seemed to sit nearby keeping an eye on things – either on the fence, in a nearby tree or on top of the house. Mom seemed to be the one going and getting all the food. And those babies are almost ready to leave the nest. It should be any day now. I actually saw both mom and dad checking out the other two bird houses in the yard today. They are already thinking about that next nest and another set of babies. Busy busy!

Apr 10, 2014 | Big Shot, Cards, Masculine, Occasions Catalog 2014 |
Today I have a trendy card featuring the Kaleidoscope product Suite from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog. This card has a unique style – the front is cut short and a piece of Designer Paper is attached on the inside of the card base to show to the front when the card is closed. Here is what the inside looks like

Just something a little different to add interest to this fun card. I tried to stick with the grey, blue, yellow colors in the product suite so it would be a more masculine card. Here are some more notes for you –
- Card base is Crushed Curry
- Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper – the gray strip on the inside and the gray strip on the front, plus the gray circles – punched with the circle from the Punch Pack (***it’s on SALE this week), and the little tiny triangles are cut from one of the prints in the paper pack
- Stamp the images from the Geometrical stamp set using Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, and Basic Gray – punch out with the Triangle Punch
- Stamp Hooray for today on a piece of Whisper White card stock – then cut it with the Banner Framelits – then add one of the arrows on underneath the words
- attach everything to the front of the card (well except the one strip that goes on the inside)
Enjoy! Let me know what you think of this card and what you think about my blog changes.
