Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop Blissful Blooms

Hello my friends.  It’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is – Blissful Blooms.

This month’s kit is a beautiful floral kit with silver edged envelopes.  The full kit makes 10 cards – in two different designs.  All you need to do is stamp the sentiments and assemble the cards.

These cards are so beautiful it was hard to do something different with them.  I just didn’t want to cut them up!  But I did do some cutting and came up with two alternate ideas to share.

Blissful Blooms Notepad & Pen

This first idea came about because I wanted to look at the beautiful flowers on these cards all the time.  If I just made cards and mailed them off then I wouldn’t be able to do that.  So instead the thought of converting one of the cards to be a notepad cover came to mind.

To cover the notepad I used a piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock and cut it the width of the notepad.  I scored it to fit across the front, and scored again for the depth of the pad and then the rest was folded to the back.  Use some Tear & Tape to secure the back of the note pad to the back flap.  Cut the front of the card off and adher it to the front of the card stock.  Save the back piece we will be using it too.  The label was stamped with the phrases from the Tabs for Everything stamp set.  And I used the Stampin’ Write Marker to add the little dots in between.  The vellum leaves and the twine are both from the kit.

I used the leftover piece from the back of the card to create the insert for the pen.  Cut it to fit in the barrel – for this pen it was about 3-1/2″ long and 3/4″ wide.  Stamp on the paper using the stamp set in the kit.  The colors I used were – Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Blackberry Bliss, Old Olive and Lemon Lime Twist.  Use a bone folder to curl the paper until you can roll it up tight enough to slide into the barrel of the pen.  Reassemble the pen and add a piece of twine to the cap.

Supply List

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

  • Card stock – Blackberry Bliss
  • Ink – Blackberry Bliss (in kit), Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Lemon Lime Twist
  • Tear & Tape
  • Tabs for Everything stamp set
  • Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker
  • Bone Folder
  • Stampin’ Trimmer

Blissful Blooms Note card

My second idea is a little note card and for this one I cut another card!!  For this one I used the other design.  After trimming it off the card base into a 4″ wide piece – I cut a 1-1/2″ strip off.  I added that to the front of the note card.  That leaves a 4″ square piece which could be used for 2 more note cards.  The rest of the pieces come from the kit. I did remove the silver from the twine for this one.  And don’t forget to add some stamping to the front of the little envelope.

Supply List

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

  • Whisper White Note cards & Envelopes
  • Ink – Blackberry Bliss (in kit), Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Lemon Lime Twist
  • Stampin’ Trimmer

I hope you liked these alternate ideas for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Little Elephant Box

I was so excited to see the Little Elephant stamp set and punch in the Stampin’ Up! catalog.  I’ve been collecting elephants since I was a little girl and always get the sets that have an elephant.  When I was in school I hand carved an elephant stamp – I guess that was probably my first stamping experience!  I didn’t know then that I would be doing this all the time now.  Here is the first thing I made with the I created with the Little Elephant stamp set and punch.

It was one of my August Stamp Club projects.  We are having a lot of fun in stamp club each month.  All members get to make a 3D project, a card that usually features a technique and a scrapbook page.  I’ve really enjoyed getting back to making scrapbook pages.

Here is a closer look at this month’s Little Elephant box.

Supply List

  • Little Elephant stamp set
  • Elephant Builder punch
  • Lustrous White Mini Gable Boxes
  • Silver & Pool Party Baker’s Twine
  • Twinkle Twinkle Designer series paper
  • Soft Sea Foam ink
  • Gray Granite ink
  • Whisper White card stock

The little flowers are stamped around the base of the box in the Soft Sea Foam ink.  Use the Elephant Builder punch to punch strips of the Twinkle Twinkle Designer paper – the big and little ears are what I used for the flowers.  Glue them to the box on top of the stamped flowers.  Use a piece of the Designer Series Paper and wrap it around the box – but don’t glue it – just tie the twine around it – that way you can untie the twine and remove the wrap to open the box.

It’s perfect little gift for a new baby – you could roll up a little onsies or some socks to stick inside!

Remember it’s Bonus Days for the month of August – every $50 order will earn a Bonus Coupon that you can use on an order in September!

Kindness Cruise Swap

I have to tell you that I truly loved the Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip to Alaska. If you have never been to Alaska you have to go sometime.  I can tell you about the places we have seen and what we love.  It’s one place that I would visit again and try to see some different areas next time.

Not only was the destination wonderful but Stampin’ Up! spoils us for sure.  Every day we had a Pillow Gift on our bed in the evening and every day we got to spin a prize wheel.  At the start of the cruise we had a kickoff event where we saw stamping presentations, got prizes and got our copy of the 2018 Holiday Catalog!  In the afternoon I sat out on the balcony with my wine and enjoyed browsing through all the new products.  The Holiday catalog starts on September 5th – so it won’t be long now.

Catching up with friends and making new friends are also a highlight of the trip.  Stampin’ Up! even organized a swap for everyone.  Those that participated designed a card and made a bunch (I think it was about 26).  We turn them in, they swap them out and hand us back a bag filled with 26 different cards from demonstrators all over the world that joined us on the trip.  Today I thought I’d show you my swap card.

I really loved how this one turned out.  It features my new favorite color Gray Granite.  And I used the stamp set from the Notes of Kindness Card Kit.  I love the kit and wanted to feature the stamp set in a different way.  Here is a full list of supplies.

Supply List

  • Notes of Kindness Stamp set (part of the Notes of Kindness Card Kit)
  • Gray Granite card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Gray Granite ink
  • Mossy Meadow ink
  • VersaMark ink
  • White Embossing Powder
  • Heat Tool
  • Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon
  • Metallic Pearls
  • 2-1/4″ Circle Punch
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals

This is one of my favorite photos from the trip and has similar colors in it. The grays, greens and white.  This was taken from the Yukon Suspension Bridge over the river in Canada during one of our excursions.

It was an amazing view and an incredible excursion that I’d highly recommend.  This was on our stop in Skagway.

Don’t miss BONUS Days in August!

Blueberry Sweet Treat

I love sweet fresh blueberries.  We had blueberry bushes in our yard and in the summer time I’d go pick fresh blueberries for us to eat.  It was so yummy.  Then someone decided that we should get rid of them because they were so big.  And now I no longer have fresh blueberries to pick.  I may need to buy some new ones.  Anyway that brings me to one of our new In Colors – Blueberry Bushel!  It’s a yummy new blue that’s been added to our color collection.  While fresh blueberries weren’t practical to give as a pillow gift I found something just as yummy – chocolate covered blueberries!  So I decorated those up to give as pillow gifts at the PAWS Team Getaway retreat.

The packaging on these was a perfect match to our Blueberry Bushel so I didn’t want to cover it all up.  Instead I used some Designer Paper to create a backing and topper.  Added ribbon and a little tag made from the Treat Time stamp set.

Supply List

  • Treat Time stamp set
  • Petite Treat Framelits
  • Blueberry Bushel ink
  • Whisper White card stock
  • In Color 2018-2020 Designer Series Paper stack
  • Blueberry Bushel 1/8″ Grosgrain ribbon
  • Silver Metallic Thread
  • Big Shot Die Cutting Machine

It’s really quick and easy to dress up a little treat with paper and ink.

Grapefruit and Butterflies

After a ton of searching for something to use as a Grapefruit Grove themed pillow gift at my Getaway Retreat Weekend I finally found Pink Grapefruit Lip Balm.  And they were even on sale when I bought them – I think the lady at the store thought I was nuts when I bought all that they had.  But they were perfect for this little gift.

I used the Springtime Impressions Thinlits butterfly die to create the butterfly.  For the front layer die cut the butterfly out of the Grapefruit Grove card stock.  Then use the die for the back layer but instead of cutting it with the Big Shot; trace around the die on the back of the Designer Series Paper and then hand cut it out with the paper snips.  That gives you the solid butterfly for the back.  Add ribbon and a tag and you have a sweet little gift.

Supply List

  • Springtime Impressions Thinlits
  • Grapefruit Grove card stock
  • 2018-2020 In Color 6×6 Designer Series Paper
  • Paper Snips
  • Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Grapefruit Grove ink
  • Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set
  • Window Box Thinlits (little oval tag)
  • Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
  • Silver Thread
  • 1/8″ handheld punch

You can substitute what ever stamp set you have and tag shape that you like.  I used the small oval from the Window Box Thinlits. The silver thread is used to tie the tag onto the bow.   I hope you like this little project.
