Enjoy these puppy treats

Last weekend we went up to visit my son Ryan at school in Indiana.  We stayed over night at his girlfriends parents house.  I made a gift basket for them – I brought them a variety of things from Georgia.  And I also made a sweet little treat for the dog!  An 8 month old puppy.

I had a clear box from an earlier catalog – I believe they were 3×3 clear boxes.  I filled the box with milkbones.  Currently we have Tiny treat boxes that are clear – you could use those for cat treats or mini bones – or use the Acetate Boxes in the Holiday catalog and fill one of those with milk bones.

I used the Smoky Slate Gingham Ribbon to tie around the box and added a tag.  The tag is Basic Gray card stock cut with the Layering Squares – one of the scallop squares.  And a piece of Watercolor Paper.  Stamp the dog from Bella & Friends and watercolor.  Here is a picture of Cooper – isn’t he cute!  He even looks like the little dog on the tag.  And that’s Emily – Ryan’s girlfriend.

Merry Little Labels

Today’s card is actually a third card using the same “layout” for the design.  I shared a Halloween, a fall card and now a winter card.

Merry-Little-Labels-christm

It’s the same basic layout but this time the background is embossed and I didn’t layer the strip of Designer Paper.  There are several new products from the Holiday Catalog on this card.

  • Merry Little Labels stamp set
  • Everyday Label Punch
  • Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper
  • Foil Snowflakes

You can purchase the stamp set and punch as a bundle and save 10%.  The Foil snowflakes come in a package with both Gold and Silver and the backing is paper that you could actually color with ink – using markers or a brayer if you want a snowflake in another color.  This card used just 1/2 of the snowflake but there is actually less than that showing on this one.

The Embossing folder is Softly Falling and the ribbon is Whisper White 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon – both of those are in the Annual Catalog.  I used the Archival Basic Black ink to stamp the image – I find that it has the best crisp black image.  One note of advice – don’t accidentally use the Memento Ink refill on your Archival Black pad.  You won’t be happy – ask me how I know.

Thanks for stopping in.

Hello Fall!

Are you ready for fall?  It sure does feel like it’s coming.  What’s left of Hurricane Irma just passed through and here where I live it was a very cool and very rainy windy day. I had to pull out some fall clothes because I was cold.  So I know it’s coming.  We didn’t have any issues from the storm here at my house.  We are thankful for that.  And thankful that our family is all safe as well.

For today I have a fun fall card to share with you.  It uses the Merry Cafe stamp set from the Holiday catalog.  And while I’m not a coffee drinker I do really love this stamp set – it’s for so much more than coffee and coordinates with the Coffee Cafe bundle in the annual catalog.

I paired it with the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.

Did you notice that it’s actually the same basic layout as the Spooky Cat card I just shared.  This is an easy layout to use for a variety of cards.  And since it uses a 2″ x 4″ strip of the Designer Series paper it makes it easy to do a stack of cards.  The little squares in this print remind me of some paper we had years ago that I really loved.

Thanks for visiting my blog – I’d love for you to leave a comment.

Spooky Cat Double Z Fold

Have you heard of a Double Z Fold card?  It’s a fun fold card idea and when it’s open the card easily stands on its own.  You could create all kind of fun scenes with this style of card.  I decided to try this fun card with the Spooky Cat bundle.  We made this in my September Stamper’s Club.

This is the card closed up.  And remember when I told you about the Cat punch and using it to punch out the paper cats – well that is what I did for this black cat – she is just punched from the paper.  Plus there is Designer paper on the front panels of both Z pieces.  Here is a look at the card opened up.

You basically take a normal sized card – this one is 4-1/4″ wide by 11″ long – Score in the middle like normal – that is 5-1/2 on this card.  And then take the front piece and score it in half again – 2-3/4″ on this card.  That makes your first Z.

Then to make the second Z – so that its a Double Z fold card – I used a strip that was 1-1/2″ side and 11″ long.  Do the same thing – score in half at 5-1/2 and then score the back panel at 2-3/4.  Fold it in the opposite direction.

I added Very Vanilla panels to the other end of the Z folds – 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece on the main back – stamped with the little rat in the corner.  I also added the black starburst punch.  Then on the strip the pieces are 2-1/2″ x 1-1/4″.  On one I stamped the Happy Halloween and the little striped image.  On the other I stamped the potion bottles.  Plus a scrap of Very Vanilla for the Owl.  Now one of the fun things about this stamp set is the two-step stamping!  You have the outlines for the potion bottles – those are in black.  Then each bottle has an image to stamp the inside potion and bubbles.  I used 3 colors – Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze and Smoky Slate for mine.  And went over them with the Aqua Painter and a little bit more ink to give them a real smoky look.

There are more 2-step images in the set – the Owl – there is a stamp for the talons and beak.  And then another for the eyes and rings around the eyes – that one also included words that fit on the belly.  But I decided to cut my stamp apart so I had the option to use separately.  For this particular card I just used a marker for the eye balls because I didn’t want the rings to be black.

The witches hat in the set is also 2-step with a second image for the buckle on the hat.

Happy OWL oween!

Thanks for visiting.
