UDI Color Challenge #44

Today is the best Tuesday!  Why?  Because I am on my way to the Stampin’ Up! Convention!  Yeah – so much fun, so many friends, so many ideas….I can’t wait to get there.  I’m leaving all the boys behind and getting a full 6 days of girl time!

I have been super busy and away from home a lot – so my blog posts have been a little sparse – hopefully I’ll have time to set some up to post while I am away (like this one) or actually post from convention (if we have internet access).  So on to today’s color challenge from Utah Diva’s….

This weeks challenge is some bright summer colors.  Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, and Riding Hood Red.   At first I thought what am I going to do with all those colors – they are pretty together but I just don’t know where to go with them.  They made me thing of a rainbow – which always makes me think of Roy G. Biv.  Do you know what that is?  I can’t even remember how long ago I learned that – probably elementary school somewhere.  But it is something I won’t ever forget.  Roy G. Biv – that is the colors of the rainbow – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet.  And this weeks color challenge is real close to including all the colors of the rainbow.

I was caught up with the fact that there were five colors and some how wanted to have 5 different things like a rainbow of color – I thought letters and was thinking of 5 letter words.  And then I remembered the single stamp in the Summer Mini catalog – Hello Blossoms – that’s a five letter word – Hello.  So I pulled out the set and did some quick playing around with it.

Ultimately I covered up the Hello and went with the 5 blossoms and this is the result –

I ended up with a cute little 3×3 card!  I stamped the Hello Blossom stamp in Pear Pizzazz ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  The “grass” at the bottom is where I dragged the edge of the ink pad over the card stock – it gave the look of little hills of grass.  To add the color i decided to use the Sweet Buttons Embosslit and I cut one set of buttons in each color.  I put them in order of the rainbow.  Then I decided to add the little crinkled flowers to the center and pop in a tiny pearl.  Perfect result I think.  The buttons in the back give each flower a different personality.  The greeting is from a new Hostess stamp set called Perfect Words.   I chose the “you’re the BEST” – because you guys are the best!  The new Hostess program is going to be awesome.  My first hostess got TWO half-price items!! And she was able to get all the hostess sets that she wanted – instead of being limited to quantities and levels.

I hope you have a great week and if I don’t post this week – don’t despair, I’ll be back with posts after convention including all my convention swaps – although I hope to have those scheduled while I’m away.    Be back soon!

Introducing Calypso Coral

So how did you like the new Wisteria Wonder color?  In the past I haven’t used the purples very much but I really like this one so you may be seeing more purple out of me this year.  And I even bought a purple outfit last week and you’ll see me wearing that at convention.  So are you ready for another new color……

So here is the next one – Calypso Coral –

I used the Flower Folds die and cut each layer in a different shade of orange so you could compare the colors.  So from the back to the front (or largest to smallest) the colors are Peach Parfait, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango and then Calypso Coral.  The petals on each flower are also sponged with the matching color of ink.  And I stamped the “hello” in Calypso Coral although it looks darker since it is on Crumb Cake instead of white card stock.  That set is from the Summer Mini catalog – one of the hostess sets.

And there is a sneak peek of one of our new ribbons – the scallop polka dot ribbon – isn’t it cute.  Remember the polka dot ribbon we had a couple of years ago – it is one sided just like those were – so you get two different looks depending on which side of the ribbon you choose to show.  When I tie a knot I just twist it so that it is all the same on the front.

Just a quick card!  Thanks for checking in today.

UDI Color Challenge #42

Guess what?  It’s Tuesday!  And what else?  Only 3 more days left to order from the 2010-2011 catalog.  And what else?  Only 4 more days until we can order from the new catalog!  And what else?  Only 15 days until I leave for convention!!  And I have so much to do!

But since it is Tuesday it is a new Color Challenge at the Utah Diva’s site.  Real Red, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Peach Parfait and Whisper White.  A pretty summer beach towel is this weeks inspiration.

I’m really happy with the way this card turned out.  I even wanted to use it for one of my classes this week – the only problem – I ran out of watercolor paper and the old paper that is on the last chance list is now sold out – so I have to wait until I can order from the new catalog and get the new watercolor paper – I think it is just the size that changed – it will be bigger pieces now.  So instead it will be part of a future class.

How do you like it?  It is very pretty in person.  The base is Certainly Celery and stamped with the En Francias stamp set.  Then a piece of Peach Parfait cut with the Big Shot and the Top Note die.  I cut a scallop circle with the Big Shot out of Real Red card stock and then cut an Old Olive circle using my Circle Scissor – it is about 2-3/4.    I stamped the flowers from the On the Grow stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Summer mini catalog using StazOn Black ink onto Watercolor paper.  I punched it out with the 2-1/2″ circle punch.  I watercolored using my aquapainter – the leaves first in Certainly Celery and then add Old Olive in the shadows.  The flowers are Peach Parfait and the centers are Real Red.  The fun part is the jar – I covered it with Crystal Effects so it looks like real glass.

You do want to let that dry real good and don’t touch or you’ll end up with a fingerprint in it.  Then I poked two holes and added the linen thread around the mouth of the jar.  There is also Linen Thread wrapped around the card base.  Yep – I like it!

Now here is my project which will surely inspire you….

I have had this luminary idea in my mind for several weeks and it came together just beautifully don’t you think?
It is soft and inspirational.  I remember when I walked in the Relay for Life for my mom (she had Colon Cancer) we had luminaries surrounding the track as we walked.  That has been a handful of years ago but I always think of those luminaries and they gave me the inspiration to make one with this stamp set.  These would be beautiful on all the tables at a fundraiser event.  Here is another view of the front –

Meeting Swaps

Today I am sharing the swap cards from my last demonstrator meeting.  I have a meeting every other month at my home and any demonstrator in the area is welcome to come.  If you would like to join me just let me know and I’ll add you to my PAWS group so you can get the meeting information.  Many of the swaps this time use sets from the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini Catalog.

I have a couple more that I forgot to take pictures of so I will add them later.  Everyone at the meeting got to make Travice’s swap as one of our Make&Take projects.

My Friday was really busy so I didn’t have time to post to my blog and then Saturday I was just too tired.  Friday I took Tyler to KSU for orientation.  We spent all day listening to various people speak and in the afternoon Tyler got his ID, parking pass and registered for classes.  So he is an official college student.  We did a drive by of his apartment too.  Then came home and finished up for Stamp Club.  The girls came over Friday night to stamp and my boys had their friends over too.  So I sent all the college boys to the basement.  Saturday morning I wanted to post on FB (but didn’t) – “do you know where your college student is?  They might be at my house I have extras.”   Some of them stayed the whole night and every sofa had a boy sleeping on it the next morning – I didn’t really know that so when I let the dogs out in the morning – one of the boys got a big surprise – Aspen found him sleeping on the sofa and gave him a big lick and woke him right up – and since I didn’t know he was there – when I saw his head pop up off the sofa all of a sudden it kind of startled me too.

Have a nice Sunday!

So far its been a productive day

So far I feel like I’ve had a productive day.  Got up and showered, got Ryan up and off to drum line practice, went to the post office, stopped by the bank, picked up dry cleaning, checked my email and the SU website.  Now I’m writing my blog post and its still before 10.  Maybe that’s a good sign that I’ll get lots done today.  I have to get my Stamper’s Club Projects ready.  I finally decided on the last project about midnight last night and went to bed.  So today I’ll cut everything and have it ready.  Tomorrow I’ll be gone all day with Tyler – we are headed to KSU for his orientation and hopefully by the time we leave he’ll be registered for Fall classes, have his ID and parking pass – that would make him officially a college student.  They sure do grow up fast!

So enough about that let me show you this super cute little birthday card I made.

It is a little party hat card made from the Petal Cone Big Shot die.  You cut your card stock with the Petal Cone die and trim off the two scallops and the little flap on the side.  That gives you the triangle shaped hat.  I cut a piece of the Celebrations Designer Series paper (it’s on the Last Chance list) to get just one of the triangles – trim off any extra from the petal cone shape.  Then I punched the edge of a strip of Real Red card stock with the Scallop Border punch and added it to the base of the hat – trim the sides to match the hat.

To decorate I cut a number ‘5’ (choose whatever number you need) using the Big Shot and the Simple Numbers die.  I tied a piece of the White Bakers Twine (in the Summer mini) around it and attached it to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  At the top of the hat I went with a Pacific Point button (from the Sale-A-Bration button set) – also tied with some White Baker’s Twine.

It is a cute little card.  Do you want to make one?  Then you should come to my Card Maker’s Club on June 29th.  Everyone is welcome to come!  We had a great time in May.  There were 11 different card designs to choose from in May.  For June I will be adding more and taking a couple of them away.  You can choose to make the cards that you need out of what I have available.  Your class fee of $15 includes 6  cards plus envelopes.  I hope to see you there!

Have a great day and try to stay cool – we are supposed to be in the high 90s today.
