May 22, 2010 | Big Shot, Cards, Create with Connie & Mary, Summer Mini 2010 |
This week on Create with Connie & Mary we have been featuring some of the new stamp sets from the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini Catalog – Watercolor Trio, Bouquet Bunch and A little Bit of Magic. And as the week comes to an end we have another challenge – this week Connie created a sketch for us to use. It looks like this:

This week I have been working with the Bouquet Bunch stamp set – out of the three that was the only one that I have. But I sure have seen some beautiful things made with the Watercolor Trio set that I might just have to add that one to my next order. For now though my card for this weeks challenge uses the Bouquet Bunch stamp set.
And here is what I came up with. Again using Close to Cocoa and Old Olive – I seem to have that as a theme this week. The base is Close to Cocoa with some paper piercing, some scattered Itty Bitty Backgrounds and a bit of sponging. The rectangle in the center has an embossed/sponged layer and ribbon. The accents on the side were made with the modern label punch and I added a brad to each one. My main little image is a tree with the little chipmunk (or squirrel – I still can’t decide) – water colored and punched with a wide oval. The layer behind it is actually two more wide oval punches just added on each side to create a frame.
I took a close up of it so you can see how the wide oval was layered. I added a little tag from the Tiny Tags stamp set – I thought this looked like a fun “hello” card. I hope you like it too!

May 20, 2010 | Cards, Create with Connie & Mary, Summer Mini 2010, Thank You |
I have some new 3×3 tags that I made this week and then I saw a sketch challenge that I wanted to play along with so I decided to turn my 3×3 into a card for the sketch. If you have ever heard of progressive scrapbooking it is where you create a 6×6 scrapbook page then turn it into an 8-1/2 x 11 scrapbook page by adding elements and then turn it into a 12×12 scrapbook page – so you progress from one size to the next. I used the same concept for this card – starting with a 3×3 tag and progressing it to a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 sized card. I used the Bouquet Bunch stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini Catalog as my main image it is perfect for the 3×3 size.

I used the Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 122 as the design for my card.
Here is what it looks like. And this is my card –
instead of a rectangle and an oval mine uses the squares from my 3×3 tag. So it is a bit of a different interpretation of the sketch. But I think it still works.
I used the bitty buttons on the bottom with little punched pieces of the Old Olive Designer Series paper underneath and Linen thread tied through the buttons in little bows for the four circles on the bottom.
The Bouquet Bunch is one of the stamp sets we are featuring on Create with Connie & Mary this week. If you haven’t joined us yet it is not too late – new ideas every day and you can catch up on all the ones that we already posted. I hope you will join us we are having a ton of fun creating!
Just a bit of a family update if you are interested – we are nearing the end of school. Kyle is done except for Graduation practice and Graduation which will be next week. Tyler has finals left and this weekend he is taking his on the road driving test – so we may have another official driver in the family this weekend. Ryan also has finals left and he is in the middle of percussion tryouts for the marching band for next year. Soon he will know what part he will have for next years show.

Did you see the new Party Favor Boxes in the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini catalog?
They are are cute little die cut take-out boxes and each one has a coordinating belly band.
They coordinate with the Island Oasis Designer Series Paper.
We made this one at our Weekend at Wendy’s. On the top is a paper flower – the same technique as the flowers I showed last week.
The little tag has one of the new Bitty Button accents on it.
These are super cute little treat boxes. And very quick and easy to put together and add a couple of decorations to dress it up a bit.
Fill them with candy or something else small. And you are ready for a fun little party!

May 16, 2010 | Big Shot, Designer Series Paper, Scrapbook Pages, SU Buttons, Summer Mini 2010 |
I completed another layout for the 52 weeks of stress free scrapbooking challenge – this one is from week 8 and it also happens to fit a Color Challenge that I found on the Inkspirations blog. The challenge is to use Basic Grey, Sage Shadow, Apricot Appeal and Whisper White – which happen to be the colors in the Stampin’ Up! Nouveau Chic Designers Series Paper. This was the paper that I used on my scrapbook page. Now this was not one of the papers that I liked but I had some and when I pulled out these pictures of my mom and dad the colors seemed to go well and so that is what I used. And I LOVE how the page turned out! Plus I used the new Bitty Buttons from the Summer Mini catalog – they were perfect. The little heart buttons match up with the smallest heart on the Heart to Heart Punch.

I cut strips of the designer paper in different lengths and widths to create the background on this layout.
The title was cut with the Big Shot and the GoGo Boots Alphabet Sizzlits Die set. Add I added a cute little accent next to the title – first I put a punch out of the Apricot Appeal card stock behind the bitty heart shaped button – poked the holes through with my paper piercer – then put it on top of a Basic Grey Corduroy Button and thread some gray cross-stitch thread through and tied it in a knot. It turned out so cute.
I added some Basic Grey Taffeta Ribbon to the page and from the bow I hung a heart shaped tag stamped with “love” from the Tiny Tags stamp set.
On the top of the page are three more of the heart shaped bitty buttons – one has Sage Shadow behind it, one has Apricot Appeal behind it, and one had Basic Grey behind it.
I love these little Bitty Buttons. Here and there I added some faux stitching with my black journaler. And there is some real hand-stitching on the left side of the page – a few cross-stitches just because. But I don’t think you can see it in the picture and I forgot to get a close up of it.
It is National Scrapbooking Month so I should be working on scrapbook pages. I have another page that I finished this weekend too so I’ll be sharing that this coming week.
Thanks for stopping by and checking things out today – have a happy day – and be sweet to your sweet heart!

I’m a Guest Designer at Create with Connie & Mary: Summer Edition going on now – come join us for daily projects featuring items in the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini Catalog.
May 15, 2010 | Create with Connie & Mary, Scrapbook Pages, Summer Mini 2010 |
This week on Create with Connie & Mary we have been featuring the Travel Journal Designer Series paper, the Sentimental Journey stamp set and the Pedaling Past stamp set! And to finish out the week our challenge is a color challenge (CCMC3)- Kraft, Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy, and Bashful Blue – the colors in the Travel Journal paper.
For this challenge I decided to create a scrapbook page – originally I was going to use some picture of my boys since the paper is more masculine looking but ultimately decided to scrap a picture of myself. My mom took a picture or my when we were on our Spring Break trip up in the mountains. Everyone was playing basketball at the cabin and I was sitting on the hill with our dogs – Aspen and Magnolia. For our entire stay we had two visiting dogs from another cabin nearby. We didn’t know their names but they pretty much stayed with us the whole time – took walks with us and hung out in the yard and on the front porch when we were inside. So in this picture White Dog and Brown Dog (as we called them) joined me and my dogs up on the hill.
I used the Travel Journal Designer Series paper and Pumpkin Pie Patterns Designer Series paper on this layout. I just got my new Extra-Large Cogs Double Punch and decided to use it on this page along with some die cuts. The background is Kraft card stock with stamping done in VersaMark ink using the Extreme Elements stamp set – which happens to be one of the sets that is part of the National Scrapbooking Month special – so if you order it you can get a free pack of designer brads.
Remember at the beginning of the year I was working on scrapbook pages for a challenge called 52 weeks of stress-free scrapbooking…..well I’m sort of behind – I think I got through week 6 – and I haven’t done any since – but this layout is from week 10. So I’m trying to do some catch up on those pages. I have been doing other scrapbooking just not using those 52 weeks layouts. I normally do 2-page layouts and these are single page layouts.
Let me tell you a little more about this new punch – you can see a close up in this detail picture. It is a completely new kind of punch called a double punch – so it punches a punch within a punch. It punches the cog part and then holds it in place to punch the circle out of the center. It punches both the large one and the small one at the same time. These will be lots of fun!
