My Digital Studio – Tennis page

Last night I made a scrapbook page using the My Digital Studio.  I am taking the online class that Heather Summers is offering.  She has a video each day showing us different things with the My Digital Studio.

These are photos of Ryan playing the the State Tennis Tournament at the end of the summer.  I tried to pick all the action shots of him.

Stampin’ Up! supplies:

– My Digital Studio software

– Background – color YoYo Yellow at 60% Opacity

– Stamps – Extreme Elements – black at 50% Opacity

– Photos are matted in White with a 2 size border

– Embellishments – black brads

What took me the longest was choosing the photos that I wanted to use.  I had so many from that weekend.  These are from the first day.  I need to create one of the team and also Ryan on the second day.  The team didn’t win enough matches to make it to the finals rounds that were played on the third day.

The winter season just started again.  Saturdays matches were “Snowed/iced” out so the played make-up matches yesterday.  Ryan and his partner Holly played the mixed-doubles line and won.  The last game was a tie-breaker and Ryan and Holly were losing 1 to 6 in a 7  point game – they came back and ended up beating them 13 to 11 – you have to win by 2 points in the tie breaker.

Thanks for visiting today.

Hmmmm….

I wasn’t sure what to write as a title.  I don’t actually have a new project to show today.  The last couple of hours I have been poking around on the new demonstrator tool that Stampin’ Up! gave us today.  Our very own network to share ideas, ask questions, discuss things.  There are a variety of “communities” already out there and many different discussion groups but this one is the one that is put together by Stampin’ Up! and it is very exciting.  I think it will be another great resource for all of the demonstrators.

Other things I did today – got all the kids to school – yeah – finally everyone is back to their schedule – although Tyler just called and his day is done and Ryan will be home soon.  So my day is ending and what did I do – I went to Jazzercise this morning – yeah for me – I really need to get back on a schedule with that.  I finished uploading pictures and sent them to print at the wolf camera – now I need to go pick them up.  They are for my calendar that I showed yesterday, my Christmas Advent scrapbook page and a year in review scrapbook album that I am working on.  I worked on pulling down wall paper in the half bath – the forever long project of taking down that wallpaper – I think I’m half way done now.  I just can’t stand on the ladder forever so I can only work so long.

So I’m back to Hmmmm……. what should I share today.   Oh, I know – I have a scrapbook layout that I shared quite some time ago but it didn’t have pictures on it.  I have added the pictures now so I’ll share it again.  Besides that I think I have more visitors now (at least my daily numbers are up) so probably some people didn’t see it the first time anyway.

The title is “Hangin’ Out Together”.  This is Tyler and his cousin Emily when they were hanging out this past summer.

The stamp set is the Circle Circus set and I stamped and punched lots of circles for this layout.  Added brads here and there.

I really like how the title turned out.  I used the Big Shot and the GoGo Boots Alphabet dies.  Every letter that had a closed space in the center I added a backing behind it to give the title some character.  I like how it turned out and really like this color combination – Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie.

I hope you like it.  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Garden from the Heart Scrapbook Page

If you haven’t noticed I have been trying to participate in various challenges.  I figure it keeps me thinking and my creativity flowing – maybe sometimes pushes you to use/do/try something you wouldn’t normally do.  A personal challenge is I always try to take what I see and make it with all Stampin’ Up! items.  I am on a mailing list from one of the scrapbook magazines and received an email from one the ladies this weekend about a new blog she started and a new challenge – 52 weeks of stress free scrapbooking – now that sounded interesting so I went to check out her blog and she has week 1 scrapbook layout posted.  I normally create 2-page layouts but this was a single page and the challenge is to make one a week for 52 weeks – that would certainly fill up a scrapbook for 2010 – so why not – I can do this – yesterday I worked on my week 1 layout  – I changed a few things – and used all Stampin’ Up! product, of course.

The background is a 12 x 12 piece of So Saffron.  Then I layered a 11-3/4 x 11-3/4 piece of Sahara Sand. I used the Tall Tales Designer Series Paper – two different patterns – the So Saffron dots and the stripes of So Saffron and Old Olive.

The circle is chipboard from On Board Batch of Blooms chipboard.  I “painted” it with Old Olive craft ink and a sponge dauber.  Then punched holes in it with my Crop-A-Dile.  I add Basic Grey Tafetta Ribbon by threading it through the holes and typing a bow at the bottom of the circle.  So now I can enter this one in the Late Night Stampers challenge for this week – which was to use ribbon.

I stamped with Basic Grey ink using the new stamp set Garden from the Heart that is in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I colored the images with my Stampin’ Write Markers – So Saffron, Old Olive and Sahara Sand and a White Gel Pen.  For the hat I added a So Saffron flower button from the Button Latte Designer buttons – in the center I added a silver brad.  Under the hat I added just a little bit of Sahara Sand with an Aqua painter to add a shadow.

I also stamped with the splatter image from Itty Bitty backgrounds and Sahara Sand ink around the corners and edges on the layout.  The photos are some that I took earlier this year of a flock of Cedar Waxwing’s that came through our yard this spring.  I usually see them only once maybe twice as they migrate through our area.  They come in a big flock and these pictures show them enjoying the bird bath and fountain in my back yard.

I also stamped the curly label tag image and punched it out.  Since I didn’t have a Basic Grey marker and wanted to use the image with out the words I used a masking technique.  I covered the words with a piece of tape – then inked the image on my Basic Grey ink pad.  Removed the tape and then stamped on my Whisper White card stock.  That gave me the label without the words.  It was punched with the Curly Label punch and then layered with a die cut using the Movers & Shapers Curly Label die.  I added a Basic Grey corduroy button – with some white crochet thread (ok I had one non- Stampin’ up! item).

It is much prettier in person than in these photos.  The White Gel pen really pops on the Sahara Sand card stock.  I’m done with my week 1 scrapbook page – 51 more weeks to go…..

Thanks for visiting today!

Happy New Year!

Gosh – it’s a new year – it is really 2010!  I told my husband this morning that this is the year our oldest son will graduate high school and really start college (he is already attending the local college for his senior year classes).  It will be the year our middle son gets his driver’s license.  It will be the year our youngest son starts high school.  I guess we are getting older or family is quickly growing up.  This should be an exciting year for us!

It was almost a year ago was when I started this blog – it will be my one year blog-iversary (is that a word) – later this month.  Llooking back on this last year of my blog – I thought I would pick some of my favorite projects from each month of this last year.  I’m so thrilled with how many people view my blog and wish I knew who you all were… and I know everyone hasn’t followed me from the beginning…thanks for visiting it makes me happy to read the comments that everyone leaves.  Thanks so much and Happy New Year!

WOW Scrapbook Kit for December

Hi everyone – the WOW Scrapbook Kit for December is now posted on the our Blog.  Wendy and I have both been busy and during the holidays our schedule is off – I know I’m late getting everything posted to the blog.  We are working together on this project to bring you some WOW scrapbook pages throughout the year.   The December kit includes two Christmas layouts and one New Year layout – of course you can always change them to use for the occasions that you need.  The FULL Kit – which includes supplies and instructions can be ordered through Jan. 4th – we will place supply orders – assemble the kits and send them out approximately 2 weeks later.  The Demo Kit – which is a pdf file with the instructions can be ordered at any time – the pdf files will be sent out after the holidays.  You don’t have to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator to order the pdf files either – that is just what we are calling it since that is what most Demonstrators want.  We also have individual layouts that can be ordered – these are also pdf files with instructions.     All the instructions include photographs, measurements, supply lists, step by step instructions and wow tips to help you create these beautiful pages.  These feature all Stampin’ Up! products.  I hope you will stop over and take a look at the WOW Scrapbook Kits blog where you will find more details about each of the three layouts in this kit.   Here is the December Sneak Peek.  These pages do use a few items from the Holiday Mini Catalog – but other sets and paper can easily be substituted.

Happy Scrappin’!

Advent Scrapbook Page

For my last scrapbook class I designed a two-page scrapbook layout that look likes an Advent Calendar.  The idea came from an ad I saw in a magazine.  I also remember when I was young and when my kids were young we would buy (or my parents would bring) the flat calendars that had all the windows with the chocolate behind them.  This layout is basically that same idea but instead of chocolate behind the windows there will be photos.

In order to design the page I used my Stampin’ Up! Grid Paper and traced out my square – the Real Red card stock is 11 x 11.  The windows are cut out of the Real Red and that is glued onto the Very Vanilla which is then glued to the 12×12 Chocolate Chip card stock.

I mapped my windows out on the grid paper – since I needed 25 windows I planned for 13 on one page and 12 on the other.  I wanted several larger windows – and then a mixture of medium and small.  I drew it all out on my grid paper until I had a nice fit – there is 1/4″ in between each of the squares.

I then used my paper cutter with both a cutting blade and a scoring blade to cut and score each window.  I cut three sides and scored one to create each window.  Some open on the top, some on the bottom and then some on the left or right.  They are all different.  When you use the Fiskars paper cutter that Stampin’ Up! sells you can position your cutting/scoring blade on the cutter without pressing down so that it cuts the paper.  You position where you want to start – then press the blade down, slide the blade until you need to stop, then lift the blade up.  There is a ruler on the guide that holds the blade and the little arrow points on the blade show you where the center of the blade is positioned on that ruler.  This allows you to cut within the center of your card stock with out cutting it end to end.  I made all the cuts and scores in one direction then turned the card stock and did them all in the other direction.

Once my windows were cut – I glued the Real Red card stock to the Very Vanilla – be sure the adhesive is only on the strips around and in between the windows and not on the windows themselves.   To decorate each window I cut pieces of the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper about 1/4″ smaller than the size of each window.  The numbers were stamped on Very Vanilla card stock and punched with a 1/2″ circle punch, then backed with a 3/4″ circle punched from Chocolate Chip card stock.  I arranged my numbers pretty randomly – I wanted 1 in the upper left corner and 25 in the lower right and then just arranged them based on size of the window – so if I knew I would have a photo or an event on a certain date I put that on a larger window.  I also stamped some images to add to some of the windows for decoration.

I plan to add photos of things that we have done throughout the month of December.  We had Greg’s birthday, Ryan’s band concert, Tyler’s band concert, the Christmas Parade, Christmas eve, Christmas day, getting the tree, baking, parties, etc.  I’ll fill in with pictures of us and things like our stockings which I hand made years ago in counted-cross-stitch.

In case you are wondering how to put it in a sleeve in your album and be able to access the windows – what I plan to do is cut the front of the plastic sleeve on the sides and the bottom at the 11″ mark where my Real Red card stock will be.  I will add a little accent with velcro behind the two bottom corners so that the sleeve stays shut until someone is ready to look at the page and open the windows.  Then they just lift the cut portion of the plastic sleeve to open each window and view the photo.

Another option is to just cut the windows off and have the open space for you photo – then place the number accent directly on a corner of your photo.

I hope all that made sense!  I think it will be fun to have a glimpse of everything that goes on during the month leading up to Christmas.

And for those of you that asked what will be in the Advent Matchboxes – those will have candy in them – the drawers are big enough to fit most of the holiday candy.  And the big box on the top  has a chocolate Santa that I found at the store – they are flat and tall and fit in there at an angle.

Have a wonderful day – tonight we are going to the High School Band Concert – I love to see them all dressed up in their tuxedos!

I hope you’ll join me in January for the Create with Connie & Julie class – see the link on my side-bar for more details.
