More Triple Punch Blossoms

More with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Punch…

Traditionally I don’t use a lot of the purples in my stamping projects – I don’t really know why.  In fact when I was little I loved purple – my bedroom had wallpaper with a floral print in purple and brown and I had a canopy bed and it was all decked out in purple.  I must have liked purple at some point in time.  But a while back when I did an inventory of my ink and card stock the ones that were missing – were all shades of purple.  But I have rediscovered Perfect Plum so you may start seeing more projects with some purple.

This card came from a card I saw on Heather Summers blog.  Her’s was a big square card and I think she got the idea from someone else.  These were the colors that she used and they really were pretty together – Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery, and Baja Breeze.  I wanted a card that would fit in the open-ended envelopes and ended up with this creation.

I used Pocket Silhouettes to create the greenery.  The “thanks so much” is the new hostess set in the Summer Mini Catalog called Swirls & Curls Verses.  Then I punched out flowers with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Punch and layered the pieces and added some details.

flower 1 is Perfect Plum base, Certainly Celery for the middle and Baja Breeze for the top with a Certainly Celery brad in the center.

flower 2 is Certainly Celery base that has been cut in between the petals, the center is the Bitty Punch circle that was embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder

flower 3 is a Baja Breeze base that was embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder, the top is Perfect Plum and then a Bitty Button threaded with White Bakers Twine for the center.

Have a nice day – we are expecting rain and storms this afternoon/evening – ugh – hopefully no tornados.

Triple Punch Easel Card

Oh my gosh – it has been three days and no blog posts from me!  Sorry about that.  I’ll have projects for you all week so come back every day.  Saturday night I had my demonstrator meeting and it was so much fun!  I love getting together with all of these ladies – we had a good time and Cindy Schuster did an awesome presentation for us on My Digital Studio Hybrid projects and then we made two scrapbook pages that I’ll share later this week.  I showed everyone about the new Triple Punches in the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini Catalog and I’m going to show you the card that I designed for everyone to make.  I combined two different ideas from Stampin’ Up! – I really liked the look of the scrapbook page in the Summer Mini catalog – page 6.  And then an Easel card that was in our Stampin’ Success magazine.  And here it is:

I liked the fact that it is an easel card so that you can set it out for everyone to see the different punched pieces that you get from the two new punches.  This picture shows the card standing up – the front panel with the Hello Blossoms is on the inside of the card and attached with dimensionals.  The front of the card is scored and has a second panel – the one you can see here with all the punch flowers attached to it.  When you fold the front at the score the panel pops up and you tuck it behind the inside piece to make it stand up.  Did that make any sense at all?  Here is a side view –

The two punches are the Doily Triple Layer Punch and the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch.  The colors I used are Old Olive, Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Rose Red, and Blushing Bride.  There are lots of different combinations that you can create with all these punched pieces.  I hope you like it!

Come back tomorrow for this weeks UDI Color Challenge.

Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch

Hey everyone – I decided to take the weekend off from blogging – I spent Saturday with my mom (also saw my dad, my niece & nephew, my brother and my sister-in-law).  Sunday I was home and all my boys were here – they cooked dinner last night and mostly cleaned up.  Just a nice relaxing sort of day.

Have you seen the new Triple Layer Punches in the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini Catalog? I bought the Blossom Bouquet punch and it is so much fun – it is called a Triple Layer punch because it punches out three coordinating images from one punch – actually I think this one you could consider it to punch 4 – two of the layers actually punch out two pieces – the inside of the flower and the outside rim are actually separate.  So here is a card I made for some of my classes this month based on a card in the Stampin’ Success magazine (the magazine that us demonstrators get).

I added an inside panel that is stamped with the Bold Blossom stamp set that coordinates nicely with the Blossom Bouquet punch.  You can make lots of different flower combinations with this one punch.  Let’s see if I can point out the different pieces – the first image you can punch is the large flower – in this card I have it as the background of each of the three flowers – one is Peach Parfait, one is Early Espresso, and one is Crumb Cake.  The second image you can punch is a smaller flower with a flower ring around it – in this card there is a Crumb Cake ring on the Early Espresso flower.  And it doesn’t look like I used the smaller flower on this card – but wait a minute and you’ll see it on my next version of this card.  The third image is a small flower with the tear drops punched out and the ring again – on this card there is one in Daffodil Delight and one in Old Olive – the tear drop flower that is.  The small circle punch is from the Bitty Punch set.

The great thing about crafting is that there really aren’t any mistakes – if something doesn’t happen the way you planned it is just a chance for you to get more creative – to come up with a different idea – no one else will know that you started out with a different plan other than yourself.  And sometimes the new creation is something you like better than what you originally set out to do.  So I took this card to a class on May 1st and ran into not one but two chances to get more creative – first I forgot the 3/4″ circle punch that I used to punch out the little flower stamped image – but who wants to cut that flower out – not me (well on some occasions I would but not this time) and forget trying to cut out a circle – its not going to happen.  So what was the solution – to use the small flower image that is punched from the Blossom Bouquet punch.  Problem number 2 – while demonstrating the punch – on the third image you have to make sure you push down until you hear the third click – if you don’t you get a partially punched tear drop flower – but after looking at it – I decided it would make a pretty flower just the way it was so i used it on a card too.  So here is my second version of this card:

On this one I used the small flower twice – once underneath the Old Olive and once on the Early Espresso with a stamped flower in the center of it.  And here is a close up of the partially punched flower –

See how the little tear drops didn’t punch out on one end.  So what I did was put a dimensional under the center so it would pop up and allow the cut end of the tear drop to hang down.  I actually like how it looks.

These punches are fun but you do need to understand how they work so that you can use them correctly and get the results that you want.  First the punch should be used sitting flat on the table – not held upside down in your hand like we usually do with the old punches.  Then you need to slide the selector to the image that you want and notice that there are stoppers for the 1st and 2nd punch so that it doesn’t go down all the way.  It helps to listen for the clicks and practice a bit.  In order to close the punch and lock it you need to have the selector in the third position – if you don’t it won’t lock shut because it will catch on one of the stoppers.  It comes with instructions but it helps to see someone else using it.  I’ve already started demonstrating in my classes and workshops  – call me today if you would like to schedule your own.

The Easter Bunny is on his way….

The Easter Bunny is on his way to my family with an invitation to join us for lunch on Easter Sunday!

Every year my family and Greg’s family gather here for Easter lunch – we have had nearly 40 of us here at times.  And each year I like to send out a hand made invitation to everyone.  Not that they need it since the door is open to them to come even if I don’t send invitations.

After thinking about what I was going to do this year – I saw people using the Petal Cone die to make carrots – and I thought that would be a fun idea.  Then I saw a couple of samples that included a punched bunny peeking out around the carrot – Cindy Wilkinson posted one and she saw one that Sandy Hancock posted from her downline meeting.  Now that was the perfect idea.  Most of the ones I saw were pouches that would hold candy.  My original version is also a pouch but I included an extra pull out piece that would be the “card” part.  I showed it to Greg and he didn’t think it was obvious that that piece pulled out.  I showed it to Tyler and he thought because it was two pieces they would lose the inside part.  So then I decided to cut of the extra tab that made it into a pouch and just let it open from the side like a card.  I formatted my text to fit the shape of the triangle, printed it on my printed, cut it out and glued it inside the cards.  Everything went out in the mail yesterday – so they are on their way!

So let me show you what I’m talking about…

So here is my first version.  I used the Petal Cone Die and the Big Shot to create the carrot from Pumpkin Pie card stock.  The flap is glued to create the pouch.  I also ran it through the polka dot embossing folder.  And the edges are sponged with Pumpkin Pie ink.  And then cut another Petal Cone in Whisper White to make the insert.

You pull the insert out and that is where you can write your note, invitation, or Easter wishes.

The top of the carrot and the bunny are all made from punches.  I created two cheat sheets that I used in my club meetings so that they would know easily what pieces they needed to create this project.  And I have those here to share with you too.

The carrot top is Wild Wasabi card stock – punched and cut as shown on my cheat sheet.  I did sponge the edges with Wild Wasabi ink.

The bunny is made from Whisper White and Blushing Bride and all the pieces are sponged with Blushing Bride.  I used a Black Journaler and a White Gel Pen to add the accents to the bunny.  Here is a close up.

The little nose is popped up on a Dimensional but the rest is all glued flat.

Here is a close up of the back side –

If you really wanted you could finish off the back and add a little tail!  But I didn’t do that here.  I just wanted you to see how it looked glued to the back of the Pumpkin Pie carrot piece.

This last picture is of all my invitations that I sent to my family.  On these I cut off the flap of the Petal Cone die so that it was just a card that opened on the side.  Remember the ice cream cone card from a few weeks back – it’s like that.  So these are all my little bunnies on their way to mailboxes.

Have a good weekend!

Owl Love Chocolate Treat

At the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference I participated in several swaps – one of the swaps (actually I did this one twice) was called a Candy Wrapper Swap.  I participated in two groups and then my roommates Becky and Diane also participated in different groups.  That gave us 40 different ideas between all of us that we could share.  This one was one of my favorites that the other girls received (I don’t know who created the swap so if it was you let me know).  I was able to take pictures of it so that I could re-create at home.

Isn’t this the cutest idea?  I have made these before at Christmas with the snowmen and the wrapped peppermint patties.  I do have to tell you that I wasn’t able to find the little wrapped mints anymore – now they come in little rectangle bags – is anyone else able to still find the wrapped mints – I’m talking about the small peppermint patties wrapped in foil.  Anyway I had to search the candy aisle for something that would fit between the scallop circle – and it needed to be relatively flat – I finally found something that would work – they were dove chocolates.  Enough about the all important candy and more about the project.

The clear bags are some that I ordered online.  Get the punches out – the 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle punch, 1-3/8″ Circle punch, 1-1/4″ Circle punch, Two-step Owl punch, Full Heart punch.  The colors are Real Red, Basic Grey, Blushing Bride, and Whisper White.  Punch 4 Real Red Scallop Circles, punch 4 Basic Grey Scallop Circle, punch 4 Blushing Bride 1-3/8″ Circles and 3 Whisper White 1-1/4″ Circles.  Punch the owl – his body is Basic Grey – eyes are white and black with tiny wiggle eyes in the center – his belly/shirt (I’m still not sure what to call that piece) – is from the Play Date Designer Series paper (the red heart print) – the little heart is Blushing Bride. The pink and white punches were sponged with Basic Grey ink.

I used the Lovely Letters stamp set for the ‘L’, ‘V’, ‘E’.  The owl will be the ‘O’ in LOVE.  The top of the bag is tied with Blushing Bride ribbon and a punched heart was added for a tag.  The ‘xoxo’ is a rub-on from the Occasions Mini catalog.

I hope you love this project as much as I do!  It was part of my Valentine class that I had in January.  There’s only 8 or so more days until Valentine’s day so get busy making sweet treats for your loved ones.  My boys will be getting one of these.

Simply Adorned Owl

At the end of December I had a Simply Adorned class for a small group of ladies.  We had a nice afternoon stamping as we watched the Christmas snow melt away in the backyard.

The ladies requested an owl theme for one of the inserts because their school mascot where they work is an owl.  I wanted to use the cute owl punch.  He is just a little too big for this size charm – it is the 1″ x 1-1/4″ charm – the medium size of the three that Stampin’ Up! sells.

He is still cute in there – just set off to the side a little bit.  The background is from the Play Date Designer Series Paper.  The owl is made from the Autumn Spice Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I liked using it because it was heavy weight textured card stock.

I hope you like this little charmed owl!

I have been working on my swaps for the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference.  I leave in 5 days!  I hope the weather isn’t bad because I’ll be driving up.  I’m signed up for four group swaps – I have two of them done and two left to go.  Then I also plan to make some card fronts for general swapping.  I’ll be busy the next several days working on all those swaps.
