Dec 4, 2009 | My Digital Studio |
I created my December Class Calendar using the Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio.

I added it to my email newsletter and I’ll have printed copies for anyone that wants one when they come to classes at my house. I have seen comments about this software and everyone says it is the easiest program to use straight out of the box. It would make a great gift for you or someone else. You can email me to order or order from my online store by visiting my Stampin’ Up! website – www.monika.stampinup.net
And I am officially Certified now. I received my confirmation email from Stampin’ Up! and my pin and other stuff is on the way. I have a new “badge” that I have displayed on my Stampin’ Up! website. Read below about a new Software update that is available – if you already have your software you’ll want to follow these instructions and get the latest update.
My Digital Studio Software Update
December 3, 2009
There is now a software update available for your My Digital Studio software. This update resolves some of the issues we discovered after the initial software release. This update also provides some enhancements to make the software even easier to use. Please note, once you download and install the update, your My Digital Studio software will display as “My Digital Studio 1.0.1.611” in the About My Digital Studio screen under the Help menu.
Download this update within My Digital Studio by checking for software updates under the Help menu, or click on the links on the Customer Web Site under Our Products>Product Lines>My Digital Studio>Updates.
New Digital Downloads Available
Stampin’ Up! also added some additional downloads for the software that you can purchase through my online store on my website. Got to my website and click SHOP NOW. Then go to DIGITAL CRAFTING and then select MY DIGITAL STUDIO DOWNLOADS. From there you can select the category you want to view – NEWEST DOWNLOADS shows the new ones that were recently released and those released in October. You can read the description of the download to see if it was included with the original software – most of these in the new section were not. The newly released ones include:
Item # | Item Name | Price | Release Date |
| 118117 | Berry Christmas stamp brush set | $5.95 | 11/20 |
| 118118 | Friend by Definition stamp brush set | $1.95 | 11/20 |
| 118119 | Just Perfect Alphabet stamp brush set | $9.95 | 11/20 |

| 120882 | Icicle Digital photo card kit | $3.95 | 11/20 |
| 120883 | Merry Moments Digital photo card kit | $3.95 | 11/20 |
Here is an explanation of how they are naming things and what it is:
STAMP BRUSH SET – this is like a stamp set, in the software it will show up under STAMPS, you can change the color “ink” on these.
DIGITAL KIT – this is like a Simply Scrappin’ Kit, in the software it will show up under EMBELLISHMENT and then DIGITAL KITS, the images are already colored like the self-adhesive die-cuts, and there are background papers included
PHOTO CARD KIT – this is a template for a card and will be available when you create a CARD in the software

After learning about calenders in Stampin’ Up!’s new My Digital Studio the other day I came up with an idea as I was preparing for my classes today. I wanted to create a monthly calendar showing all my upcoming classes and events. So yesterday I started to play and my idea came together – I finished up late – I should have been sleeping – but instead was on the computer adding more images to my calendar. So here is what I came up with……..

So what do you think? I know when my kids were younger and I was room mom in their class I always made fun calendars to hand out of all the activities or volunteers that were scheduled. This program would have been perfect for that. I’m going to try to do this each month and post to my blog and send out on email to my newsletter list.
My Digital Studio has Calendar templates for 2010 and 2011 – you choose a Designer Template and it has the grid with the numbers along with the month and year. The calendar Designer Templates aren’t “designed” with colors or images or anything else. In order to create a 2009 month I just went and found a month that started on the same day as the one I was creating – then selected Insert Duplicate Page to make a copy of it. Then I did my editing – by changing the month and year and deleting any extra days. I added background paper and then my stamped images and embellishments. I also added a piece of Whisper White card stock as a page layer so that I could size it and place it behind my grid so that all the calendar information was visible. I used the new Medallion Digital Download – it is not included in the original My Digital Studio release but you can get it as a Digital Download for $1.95 – to add a background accent – I adjusted the opacity so it would just be a faint image in the background.
Fun, Fun! Can you tell what colors I used – Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Old Olive, and Ruby Red – those are some of the colors I like to use for fall. I’m almost finished with my certification. Every time I play with I learn a little more…
Have a fun day! I’ll be stamping the day away in my Holiday Card Making classes – so off to finish setting up for those. Thanks for stopping by.

Oct 27, 2009 | Big Shot, Just Soccer, Just Tennis, My Digital Studio, Scrapbook Pages, Sporting |
Well I had planned to post this yesterday but the rest of the day got away from me. Sorry about that…
I actually made these scrapbook pages last month – in September for my scrapbook class. The two-page 12×12 layout was easy to adapt to any sport. I made the Soccer layout for my class sample and then created the Tennis layout during the class. At the class the ladies did a variety including baseball/softball layouts and football/cheer layout. If you didn’t want sports at all you could have used Circle Circus or other circles or flowers. The layout itself was an old one from a magazine that has been in my stack of layouts to work with. I also created the same layout using My Digital Studio – I was able to play around with the photos in the layout before printing them. My Digital Studio has the Sporting stamp set with all the words but not the individual Just sports sets. But you could do a hybrid version and print the My Digital Studio version and then add the stamped sports images. One cool thing about the My Digital Studio that didn’t really work with the traditional scrapbook page was putting the words directly on top of the picture. In my traditional layout I cut my picture shorter and put the GO TEAM underneath it. The tennis layout doesn’t have pictures on it yet – I’ll be adding those as soon as I get them printed.

Soccer - left page

Soccer - right page
Supplies used include:
– Sporting stamp set
– Just Soccer stamp set
– My Way Punch
– Circle Punches – several sizes
– Spiral Punch
– Big Shot & GoGo Boots Alphabet die
– Night of Navy, Real Red, Summer Sun card stock and ink
The one thing I couldn’t do in My Digital Studio was the Spiral Punch – I’ll have to look at that more and see if I can find that – if may have been there and I missed it. So you see that here in my traditional layout.
The Tennis version uses the same supplies except the Just Tennis stamp set for all the accent pieces – here it is without pictures on it.

Tennis - left page

Tennis - right page
For the Tennis layout I may add some White Gel Pen lines by the tennis balls at the bottom of the page – I wanted them to look like they were bouncing and right now they look kind of out of place so I think I’ll add that when I put my pictures on.
So then the My Digital Studio version is done with the Soccer pictures – I’ll show you the Left page – it just has white circles where the soccer balls should have been. I didn’t actually print the My Digital Studio version as a 12 x 12 but I was able to export it to a jpg file so I could share it here and I printed it just on paper to take to my craft room as my sample. So the My Digital Studio software can be used for a design tool – where you can play around with elements and photos without cutting card stock or printing photos until you know what size and where you want everything.

Soccer - My Digital Studio
I didn’t finish adding all the stamped words in there but wanted to have an idea for comparison. The font is different since the Big Shot dies aren’t actually in My Digital Studio – you can add text by using the fonts that you have loaded on your computer and you can change them to any of the Stampin’ Up! colors.
So what do you think? How do they compare?
I have this month’s scrapbook pages ready to share later this week so come back again.
It’s a rainy day (again) and a good day to stay inside and stamp (no one really wants to clean house so go stamp instead).

Oh my goodness….I haven’t posted much in several days. I had too many things on my plate and ran way short of time.
Friday was a big day – it was 8th grade night with the high school Marching Band. So normally on 8th grade night the 8th grade band is invited to join the marching band at the football game. They play in the stands with them and watch the half-time show. It is a way to show the 8th graders a little about being in the marching band. That was pretty much the scope of it. The 8th grader normally get a t-shirt and some other little treat – one year I stamped the CD envelopes and filled them with cookies – here is what they looked like:
The ones I made for the band were in our school colors and I used an old retired music stamp set. I made about 80 of those that year. I think that was 2 years ago. Anyway since I have an 8th grader and a junior in the marching band I figured it was appropriate for me to help with 8th grade night this year. So about 3 weeks ago we started planning our 8th grade night and somehow I ended up in charge.
So here is what we did this year – we had a tailgate party before the football game. We grilled over 300 hotdogs and served all the marching band students, 65 8th graders plus their families, plus all the parent volunteers. Gave the 8th grader t-shirts and pom-poms, had a prize drawing, a parent meeting, the 8th grade parents got an overview of what the marching band does and a tour around the stadium to get their tickets, seats, etc. Anyway it turned out to be a much larger event that what I thought it was going to be and coordinating all the volunteers was a bigger job that what I had planned for. But it was an AWESOME event and the biggest turn out of 8th graders that they have had in years. If all of the kids join marching band next year it will exciting – we have a large group of seniors graduating and we need an even larger group of 8th graders to replace them so that the band will grow.
I was totally exhausted on Friday night. But my weekend didn’t end there.
Saturday was my Holiday Bazaar. So I was working on items for that all week too and got up early Sat. to do final preparations, pack up my car, I made muffins (we had to bring food to share – but I was the only one that baked, everyone else did store bought – I should have done the same). I was over there shortly after 10 to set up my table and the bazaar ran from noon to 7:oo PM. It was a long day but I met lots of nice new people and saw many people that I already knew. It was a new experience and I’ll be sharing this week the projects that I made. I wish I had taken a picture of my table set up but I forgot. I think it turned out well and I set up my son’s laptop to run a slide show of my first My Digital Studio album. I haven’t had a chance to get a printed book so I ran the slide show instead. I think this will be a great alternative to printing the albums to send to some of my family – I can create the movies or slide shows for them to see and a printed version for me to have.
This is the front cover of my album – the picture is Cloudland Canyon in the Northwest corner of Georgia – yes we have our very own canyons out here – they aren’t all out west. This was a trip we took in 2006 that I never put in a scrapbook. Using the My Digital Studio I was able to get the whole album together in a few days. I did decide that I am still a slow scrapper even in digital. I tend to dwell to much over the little details, moving and adding and changing and resizing – but the great things about the digital is I can do all that without wasting a lot of card stock.
So anyway I have had an extremely busy week and now I have to catch up on all the things I neglected to do for the last week (or longer). If you are waiting on a reply about buying some of my retired stamps – I am getting those out tonight and in the morning. I’m going to go back through all my email to make sure I haven’t missed any questions from anyone.
This week I’ll have out the new Wow Scrapbook Kit and I’ll be finishing up the tutorial for the September Class Kit to Go. I’m working on my October newsletter too for those of you that are on my mailing list.
Thank you for stopping by. I have plenty of things going on this week too – a band exhibition, a band competition, a Decor Elements party, a club meeting and then just the kids practices and stuff.
Have a productive week – I sure hope I do!

Sep 29, 2009 | Decor Elements, My Digital Studio |
I’m having a Stampin’ Up! Definitely Decorative Party for my friend Laura next week. I only have the regular Stampin’ Up! workshop postcard invitations which weren’t appropriate for this party so I decided to create my own flyer using the new My Digital Studio software. This is Stampin’ Up! newest product that will be available to customers beginning October 1st.

I removed her personal information from my file before posting it. I have this saved and can use it for future parties too. So far she has 6 or 7 people attending including one man (and its not her husband). Now I need to prepare for my presentation – I have some photos from the presentation that demonstrator Christina Crawford made at convention this year. I’m going to look back through my notes from her class and hopefully have an awesome party next week. If you are local to Woodstock, GA and want to host your own Definitely Decorative Party – give me a call. There are exclusive hostess items that you can earn for Free.
I am working on my items to sell at the Holiday Bazaar that is this weekend. Come see me and some of my friends and get your Christmas Shopping started. There will be my hand made items, designer purses, metal art jewelry, glass beaded items, candles and more. Here are the details for that:

I hope to see you there!
Thanks for stopping by today.

Sep 14, 2009 | Build-a-Bear, class, My Digital Studio, Stamper's Club |
Sorry for not posting in several days. I have a cold/sinus/allergy thing going on and my head is so stuffed I haven’t been doing much for a few days. I did have a Stamper’s Club
meeting on Friday night which was a lot of fun. We made the Build-a-Bear in the sleeping bag cards that I shared with everyone last week. I love those little guys – I have made a ton. I’m working on a 3-D project to also send to Stampin’ Up! and also the scrapbook page that I talked about – well not sure that I talked about it here or not maybe just on my yahoo groups.
We also made scratch pad holders – everyone made a different one – we used papers from Cottage Wall, Noveau Chic, and Pink Flamingo. I meant to take pictures of what the different designs looked like but I forgot. I’m planning to make an assortment of these for a Holiday Bazaar that I’m participating in next month so I’ll take pictures of those and post later.
Remember last week I made the little project with the new My Digital Studio – I printed it to put in the frames we decorated while I was at convention so here is the picture of that:
In the picture is me, then Sue, Diane and Michele. Sue brought these black wooden frames to convention and an assortment of rub-ons for us to decorate them with.
So the outside is rub-ons (I think all retired ones) and I had a few spill over onto the glass in the upper left-hand corner. Then inside the frame is the picture that I printed out after adding some elements with the My Digital Studio. Unfortunately my printer is not printing the colors correctly – the background should be Old Olive but looks more like Kiwi Kiss.
I’m working now on an album that I will sent to the Stampin’ Up! printer so I can see what that is like and have to show to everyone too.
Update on the Circle Circus Class to Go Kits – kits with supplies have all been cut and will be ready for pickup/mailing tomorrow. I’m adding photos to the instructions and hope to be emailing the pdf files for those of you that ordered those later tonight or in the morning. A new class will be out soon.
My class at my house is this Friday – it is a Sweet Treats class making lots of different treat holders – it will be a fun class and give you plenty of ideas to take you through all the holidays. Treats for the kids, your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers – anybody that needs a little something! Come join me. Below is a peek at some of the projects – for the details visit my website – CLICK HERE.

Have a sweet day!
