Sep 9, 2011 | Big Shot, Designer Series Paper, In Colors, Punch Art, Scrapbook Pages |
Today I have a scrapbook layout for you. Yeah – I’m all done with the mini cards and yes for those that wondered all 9 cards and envelopes did fit inside the box and there was room for a few more!
This layout was one of the ones we made at my WOW Scrapbook Class in August. I have a class once a month – typically the last Friday of the month. You can see my calendar on my website and RSVP directly from there.

Smile Your Heart out is the title with the Heart turned into a strawberry to match the paper. The designer paper is the Berry Blossoms in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog. It uses several of the new In-Colors – Wild Wisteria, Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral. The layout idea for this was from a scrapbook magazine. The pictures are of my niece after we went to a Mother’s Day tea this past spring. I spent all morning trying to get her to smile for me and finally when we were leaving she game me some big smiles. And then she walked away toward the car and it was so cute I took pictures of her from behind.
The strawberry is made with the Big Shot Embosslit Heart of Hearts. I turned it over so the dots are indented since a strawberry is like that. The leaves on the top are made from the 5-petal flower punch. The one underneath has one leaf trimmed to be a stem, and the one on top is trimmed to three leaves and layered on top. Then I added a bitty flower punched from Whisper White. I added a little dot from the Lucky Limeade Stampin’ Write marker in the center.
The strawberries turned out cute – I could have added some sponging and maybe scores in the center of the leaves for more dimension.
I hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by today.

Are you ready for another new In-Color – this one is Lucky Limeade….

Obviously a new shade of green. To compare here are the greens on this card from left to right – Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Lucky Limeade, and Wild Wasabi. And a look at the new stamp set Pennant Parade. The mat on the card is also Lucky Limeade and the “hello” on the Jewelry Tag is part of the same stamp set. Along the base of the little trees I used the Lucky Limeade Stampin’ Write Marker (still lovin’ the fact that we have In-Color markers now) to add some grass and then I sponged the bottom edge too.
It’s really a quick card but I think I was having some Stamper’s Block yesterday. I was trying to work on swaps for convention and an idea for the Lucky Limeade card and I made lots of proto-types that ended in the trash. Things just weren’t coming together. I finally got this one figured out about midnight and I am happy with it. But my convention swaps haven’t gotten anywhere… and I have several to come up with.
3×3 Love Note swap – 105 done
50 Shoebox swap – base cut but I want to use a new stamp set that I’ll order today and hope I get it quickly…
60 UStamp swap – nada
25 STARZ group swap – nada
General Convention swaps – a few MDS Hybrid owls cut but I need to make them into actual card fronts.
and I’m planning Roommate gifts and gifts for friends – I have ideas for both of these just haven’t actually tried making them yet.
and then a project for the STARZ meeting – that one is also coming up blank for me right now
Any way…. I placed my last order for the 2010-2011 catalog yesterday afternoon and was surprised that it also got shipped – I guess SU is trying to stay all caught up in preperation for the start of the new catalog TODAY! Yes today we can start ordering at noon Utah time – that’s 2 PM Georgia time. And I’ll be ready because I need some stuff for my convention swaps and I am leaving in 12 days. I can’t wait!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Jun 29, 2011 | Big Shot, Cards, In Colors, Summer Mini 2011 |
So how did you like the new Wisteria Wonder color? In the past I haven’t used the purples very much but I really like this one so you may be seeing more purple out of me this year. And I even bought a purple outfit last week and you’ll see me wearing that at convention. So are you ready for another new color……
So here is the next one – Calypso Coral –

I used the Flower Folds die and cut each layer in a different shade of orange so you could compare the colors. So from the back to the front (or largest to smallest) the colors are Peach Parfait, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango and then Calypso Coral. The petals on each flower are also sponged with the matching color of ink. And I stamped the “hello” in Calypso Coral although it looks darker since it is on Crumb Cake instead of white card stock. That set is from the Summer Mini catalog – one of the hostess sets.
And there is a sneak peek of one of our new ribbons – the scallop polka dot ribbon – isn’t it cute. Remember the polka dot ribbon we had a couple of years ago – it is one sided just like those were – so you get two different looks depending on which side of the ribbon you choose to show. When I tie a knot I just twist it so that it is all the same on the front.
Just a quick card! Thanks for checking in today.

Jun 27, 2011 | Big Shot, Build-a-Bear, Cards, In Colors |
I am back from a week long vacation at the beach with all of Greg’s Family. We did good this year with the sunscreen and no real sunburns to speak of – yeah! We alternated beach days with shopping days at the outlet malls – and yes I have lots of new clothes! I’m not much of a shopper but Greg’s sister and mom have convinced me over the years that I need to buy new clothes when we are all together. Aspen and Magnolia were very glad to be back home when I picked them up today. We are actually getting a little practice at what it will be like to have two boys away at college. Only Ryan came back home with us from the beach. Kyle and Tyler went home with my nephew and will spend the week with him.
I did some ghost posting while we were gone and hope to be back to a normal daily schedule this week. I wanted to start introducing you to the new In-Colors that Stampin’ Up! added to our collection this year. These 5 new In-Colors will be around for 2 years – July 2011 – June 2013. The current 5 In-Colors are still here for another year until June 2012 – I’m glad because I wasn’t ready to give some of them up yet. So here is the first of the new In-Colors – this one is called Wisteria Wonder –
It is a new shade of purple. I wanted to show you how it compares to some of our other purples so I added the pennants in different colors (that’s a new punch by the way). From left to right it is Wisteria Wonder, Concord Crush, Elegant Eggplant, and Perfect Plum. I used my cute little Build-A-Bear girl to introduce this color to you. Her dress is water-colored in Wisteria Wonder and the large scallop circle is also Wisteria Wonder. There is also a sneak peek of a new stamp set (Pennant Parade) and another of the In-Colors (Lucky Limeade).
I also wanted to remind everyone that my Card Maker’s Club is this week on Wednesday night. If you plan to attend please go to my website and RSVP. This club is open to everyone and it’s all about making cards. The club will meet on the last Wednesday of the month from 7-9:30pm. Bring a list of cards that you need for the month of July – birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, thinking of you – whatever you might need. Each club meeting will be $15 and you will make 6 cards with envelopes. If time permits you can make additional cards for $2 each – so you make as many as you need in the time of the class. And you can choose which cards you want to make and how many – there will be at least 10 different card choices. And card designs will be available for more than one month – so you can come back to make more or make some that you didn’t get to the last time. This should give you flexibility to create what you need each month.
Please bring adhesive – if you’d like me to order Stampin’ Up! Snail Adhesive, Snail refill, or Tombow Multipurpose glue to have on hand for you please let me know before the class.
BYOB – I will provide a small snack. I think it will be fun and I hope you will join me.
I have a lot going on during the month of July so my class schedule will be a little different – I’ll update all of my classes on my website some time today. Thanks for stopping by today!

Apr 4, 2011 | Cards, In Colors, Thank You |
This cute little stamp set is called a Flower For All Seasons.
I love the different images and that you can use one for each season. I used this card last month for a class right before St. Patrick’s Day. I managed to include a shade of green in every card we made that night and none of the cards were actually St. Patrick’s Day cards though. This card was inspired by a sample I saw on Stampin’ Connection created by Jen Timko.
The card base is Pear Pizzazz with a layer of Crumb Cake on top that was punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch on one side – little white gel pen dots accent the scalloped end. I covered that end with a piece of Pear Pizzazz Patterned paper and tied a piece of Pear Pizzazz ribbon around it.
The stamped image is on Watercolor paper – stamped with Black StazOn and Water-colored with an Aqua Painter and classic ink. The centers of the flowers are a More Mustard Stampin’ Write marker. Layer that piece on More Mustard and then on Pear Pizzazz and add to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I am checking on my Spring Bingo game – I had planned to play through the end of March – that’s why I didn’t call any more pieces but I also wanted to give away 5 prizes and so far I’ve only had 3 winners come forward. You may want to double check your cards today – if I don’t get anymore winners I’ll call one more piece tomorrow and see if that will bring me to 5.
My little Magnolia is a the vet right now. I took her and Aspen in earlier today for their annual check-up and vaccines. We came home, ate lunch and the dogs were sleeping – stressful day making a trip to the vet. I walked by Magnolia sleeping in the foyer and had to do a double-take. Her face was all swollen! I called the vet back and they said to bring her right back so I did. She was having an allergic reaction and they wanted to keep her for the rest of the day. I’ll go back before they close to pick her up. Poor thing she looked so pitiful with her puffy face.
Now back to some spring cleaning – today we are tackling Ryan’s room.

Mar 18, 2011 | Cards, In Colors, Sale-A-Bration 2011 |
I have a variety of blogs that I get email updates on – some update daily and others update on a different schedule. I like to read the posts and see the creative ideas of so many talented women. Sometimes I file away ideas so that I can use them in the future. Today’s card is one that I used at a recent card club meeting and will be using again next week for another group. This card was designed by Dawn Olechefski – you can see her’s HERE.
The base is Concord Crush card stock and stamped with the large flourish image. Then layered with a piece of the Concord Crush Patterns DSP. Next there is a layer of Naturals White card stock. On the top is Whisper White stamped with the large flourish – but not just plain stamped – It is actually Rock & Rolled.
So this is what I did for this card – first ink the image in Concord Crush and stamp it off on scratch paper – to lighten it. Then roll the edges around in the ink pad again – darkening the edges. This will create a lighter inking in the center and a darker inking on the edges. The butterfly image is stamped in the center and then stamped again on another piece and cut out.
Some of the Crochet Ribbon is tied in a knot and added to the corner. Slide a vintage safety pin (from the trinkets collection) through the ribbon with a little tag. Finish the butterfly with some of the clear Rhinestones.
On the inside of the card I added a matching panel.
So I am sure that I copied Dawn’s card exactly but when I look at her blog post the card is different. So maybe there is another blog out there with this card on it too. Or I am imagining things – hmmmm.
I’m really enjoying this stamp set. If you love it too and haven’t gotten it yet you better hurry. It is one of the Stampin’ up! Sale-A-Bration sets and will only be available through the end of March – and guess what? You can get it free by placing a $50 product order. You can order online through my website or email me with an order.
Ok here are the next two pieces for Monika’s Spring Bingo –
