Ornament Keepsakes Card

This card idea came from a presentation at convention (I think it was Bonnie’s).

She was showing us the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and matching Framelits in the Holiday Catalog.  On this particular card she used mulitple pieces from the set and showed us how to stamp them and set it up so we could cut everything with one pass through the Big Shot.

When you are at convention (or other events) they show what the person is doing by putting it up on a  screen and if you want a picture of it you have to be fast before they change it or they move on to something else.  So needless to say the pictures aren’t usually the greatest and so looking back at them later I have to remember why did I want a picture of that.  So while this isn’t the greatest picture it does show you what I’m talking about for setting up this card.  You want a strip of card stock that you are going to stamp all the images on and glue the small piece of Designer Series paper on one end.  Then layout out all the framelits and cut everything.

The circle is punched out with a circle punch – I used a 1″ punch and a different stamp than what Bonnie used.  And my card is similar but not exactly the same.  I wanted to also show the piercing templates – so there is piercing around the card (but not through the greeting) and also around the designer paper ornament.

This month you can get the Festive Piercing Template pack (which includes the template that matches these ornaments) if you purchase the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set (or stamp/framelit bundle) plus the Candlelight Christmas Designer Series paper.  More information is on my website – www.monika.stampinup.net.

Have a great day!

Mummy Candy for you

Are you still getting ready for Halloween?  I finally bought a pumpkin yesterday but I haven’t put out any Halloween decorations yet.  But I have been coming up with different Halloween treat ideas and I have another one for you today.  It’s based on a sketch for this weeks Create with Connie & Mary Thursday challenge.

Here is what the sketch looks like –

I guess it looks like it could be a card but it’s not!  It’s actually a slip cover for a box of mummy candy that I found at the store.

It just slips around the box.  I just happened to have a piece of the Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series paper that was exactly the same height as the box of candy.  I wrapped the paper around it and trimmed the extra and glue the ends together to form the slip cover.  “Boooo” is stamped directly on the designer paper.  I cut a strip of Tangerine Tango card stock and embossed it with the square lattice embossing folder – glued it diagonally to the front of the box and trimmed it against the box.  I used a leftover tag from the Googly Treat Kit and stamped it with the mummy image.  I sponged the tag with Crumb Cake to tone down the white since my designer paper had Very Vanilla in it.  I also watercolored the mummy to give him some dimension.  I tied some Basic Black ribbon around the box and through the tag.   Now to decide who will get this mummy treat…..

 Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Googly Ghouls
  • Ink: JetBlack StazOn, Crumb Cake
  • Card Stock: Tangerine Tango
  • Accessories: Big Shot die-cut machine, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit, Stampin’ Sponge, Aqua-painter, Basic Black 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series paper

Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected.  Each challenge is open for a week.   Is this your week to be one of the top picks?  Do you think you can use this sketch for something other than a card?

Little Boo Treat Bag

Hi!

Sorry about the lack of creativity for the last several days.  There just wasn’t enough time in the day to get it all done.  But here is a cute project that I made for a scrapbook retreat I went to on Saturday.  This was one of the Make & Takes that they could create at my table.  The other was the 6×6 scrapbook page I showed last week.

This was inspired from an email advertisement that came from one of those craft stores.  And this was a quick and easy project to make.

Whisper White card stock – 8-1/2″ long and 3-1/2″ wide.  Score at 4″, 6″, 10″ (that should be right – you can adjust to make the base smaller if you want).  The top flap is punched with the scallop border punch and stamped with the bats from Googly Ghouls.  Add a strip of the Houndstooth & Herringbone Designer Series paper on the side.  First I stamped the Boooo on the bottom of the front panel then punched with the wide oval punch.  Add googly eyes on top.  Fill a cello bag with candy (I did use the small cello bags that Stampin’ Up! used to sell – I’m not sure why we stopped carrying the smaller sized bag) then staple the bag between the front and back and the flap over the top.  I even had Orange staples!

Gotta go….

October News from Stampin’ Up!

Stampin’ Up! had a bunch of news yesterday and hopefully you’ll find it as exciting as I thought it was.  So where to begin.

First for the month of October we have an early Christmas present from Stampin’ Claus!  You can get the Festive Paper Piercing Pack for Free. Here is the link for the flyer with the details –  Flyer_HolidayGift_Oct0112_US

Second Stampin’ Up! is trying something new and going to offer you the chance to buy single pieces from select stamp sets!  Sometimes there is a set and you don’t want everything in it but just one of two of the pieces.  This trial will be going on now through January 2, 2013.  The single stamps will be clear mount (so you will need a clear block to mount them on) and come packaged in a cello bag (you can purchase clear cases separately).  You’ll be able to purchase individual pieces from the following stamp sets  (click on the image to see a larger version and I’ll also add a link for the full size flyer –

And Finally the third bit of exciting news is that Stampin’ Up! has LOWERED the My Digital Studio Professional Print Pricing!  Every print item has a new lower price and some have been cut as much as 50%.  You can get all the details for that HERE.  And remember that today is Tuesday so there are new digital downloads too – see those HERE.  Including what looks to be a fun one called Quick Wit Costumes Template – print out on an iron on transfer and iron on to a t-shirt – super quick Halloween Costume.  Be sure to check it out.

Gotta go……

Create with Connie & Mary Color Challenge

Today we are driving to Hilton Head for the Stampin’ Up! Getaway Trip!  I’m so excited to be going and can’t wait to see what little surprises Stampin’ Up! has for us there.  Thank you to everyone that helped me earn this trip.

It’s time for a new challenge at Create with Connie & Mary.  This week we have a color challenge – and let’s just say when I pulled up the colors – I was less than thrilled – Pink Pirouette, Cherry Cobbler and Baja Breeze.

Now I LOVE Baja Breeze and lately I’ve been using lots of Cherry Cobbler – but the pink I guess is throwing me off.  What in the world was I going to do with these colors…. I can’t wait to look at all the other design team creations because I need help with this one.  But I muscled through and came up with a creation for you.

It’s really a simple card.  Just not much to it.  Cherry Cobbler base.  Baja Breeze layer – embossed with the strip of hearts and stamped with the sentiment from Blooming with Kindness.  I unraveled some of the Cherry Cobbler Sweater Trim to use for the “ribbon” on my card and also used a bit through one of the crystal baubles.  I punched several layers of the Pink Pirouette with the 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle punch and one layer with the larger Scallop Circle punch.  I crumpled them all up and layered them together – I used a mini brad to hold the layers together.  Then spritzed the whole flower with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker.  To finish the flower I added the crystal button with the Cherry Cobbler unraveled sweater trim pulled through.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Blooming with Kindness
  • Ink: Cherry Cobbler and Cherry Cobbler Marker
  • Card Stock: Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette
  • Accessories: Big Shot die-cut machine, Adorning Accents Folders, 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1/16″ circle punch, Color Spritzer Tool, Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons, mini brad, Cherry Cobbler Sweater Trim, Dimensionals

Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected.  Each challenge is open for a week.  Have you joined the Create Holiday Edition online class yet?  My guest designer project was posted earlier this week – it’s a fun card set but you have to join the class to see it and all the other great projects.  It’s a great deal with tutorials for all the projects.  So come join the fun!
