Apr 17, 2014 | Designer Series Paper, Easter, Occasions Catalog 2014 |
Did you know that the Scalloped Tag Topper punch can be used to make a cute box? It can!!
Look at this cute little Easter Box that I made recently –
Adorable – don’t you think!
You have to make this box out of designer paper so that you can punch all the layers at the same time. If you wanted to make it out of card stock you need to alter the instructions just a bit so that you punch one layer at a time. For these instructions though I’m using designer paper. I had a box similar to this in my mind and started working on it but then found this specific one on Pinterest and followed it instead. Sometimes you just don’t need to re-invent something when someone else already did it. I don’t remember how the original one was decorated but I wanted something for Easter so this was what I came up with.
So here we go:
- cut your piece of Designer Paper (I used the Crisp Cantaloupe print from the In-Color paper stack) to 6″ x 12″ and score it at 2″ and 4″ along the short side and at 2, 5, 7, 10″ on the long side.
- Fan fold the paper so it’s a long 2″ wide strip – put each end in the Scallop Tag Topper punch and punch all 3 layers at the same time. Do this to both ends.

- unfold the paper and now you are going to snip in between the scalloped ends up to the score line on each end and then also snip along the score lines on each side up to the score line to create tabs.
In the photo the left side scallop ends have been glued down already – you can see where the snips are in between each scallop section and then also the ones on the sides. - On one end fold back and glue down the two outside tabs – these will be on the outside of the box. The picture above shows the ones on the left end glued down.
- the square in the middle is the bottom of the box. Fold in one of the center tabs, and glue one of the sides (the one without the scallop tab glued down) to it to start forming one side of the box. Then glue the other side (the one with the scallop tab glued down) to the outside.

- Now repeat with the other side and you have a box!

- I also cut strips of Crisp Cantaloupe Card stock using the fringe scissors – crinkled it up and put it inside my box for “filler”, added the candy. Then fold down the two scalloped tabs that are on the same side as the ones you glued down. I didn’t glue them but just folded them to close the box.

- Use a piece of ribbon to close the box after you fill it. Pull the ribbon through the holes in the scalloped tabs to tie it shut.

- Add the decorations to the front. I wanted an Easter box so I used the Eggstra Spectacular stamp set. I stamped the Egg and the bunny in Soft Suede ink on Whisper White card stock. I used my Crisp Cantaloupe Stampin’ Write Marker to fill in the little circles and the bunny tail. I wanted to punch them out but found that none of our oval punches fit the egg shape – cut guess what did – the oval word bubble framelit! I used that placing the little tab on the word bubble on the bottom right hand side. Why? Because that is where I added the little bunny! You couldn’t even tell could you? The little bunny is punched with the Small Oval punch. Both pieces are sponged with Crisp Cantaloupe ink and added to the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finish with a couple of Basic Pearls. Cuteness!
I hope you like this little Easter box. I have a couple more Easter projects to share with you. I realize I’m running out of time so I may have multiple posts over the next couple of days.

Apr 3, 2014 | Cards, Easter, Sale-A-Bration 2014 |
All my Crumb Cake card stock is all gone! Why? Because everyone loved this card so much that I used it all up in my last two classes. Yep the Bunny Butt card is a big winner! And now I need to order more Crumb Cake card stock. It’s an old idea that I revisited with some new Stampin’ Up! products.

Here are the details – it’s really pretty quick to make.
- The card base is Crumb Cake and the front is stamped with the Hardwood Background stamp using Chocolate Chip ink.
- Punch the hole in the front with the 1-3/4″ Circle punch
- Layer on the inside a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock – I put mine on with Stampin’ Dimensionals to make it look like an actual hole – like the bunny is jumping through the fence.
- The Happy Easter is just on a strip of Whisper White that I cut into the banner shape with my paper snips. The stamp is from the Delightful Dozen stamp set.
- I also sponged the edges of the banner with some Crumb Cake ink and tied a piece of the Crisp Cantaloupe Baker’s Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack in the Sale-a-Bration brochure – I hope you got some before if ended!
- Now let’s make this little bunny butt. Punch from Whisper White card stock – one 1-3/4″ circle, two large oval, and two 7/8″ scallop circle. Sponge all the edges with Crumb Cake ink.
- Punch two pieces of the Crisp Cantaloupe print out of the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series paper (or use the one from the In-color paper stack) using the old retired small oval punch. I know – we don’t sell this one anymore but it’s the perfect size for this so that is what I used. If you don’t have you could use our current small oval it just give a different look.
- Glue the small ovals to the large ovals to make the bottom of his feet. Then use the fat end of the Crisp Cantaloupe Stampin’ Write Marker to make three toe marks – I literally just laid the mark tip down and lifted it back up to create the marks.

- Glue the feet to the large circle.
- Crumple up the small scallop circles to get them fluffy for his tail. Glue the two of them together and then use a dimensional to add the tail to the big circle.
- attach the bunny butt to the card so he looks like he’s jumping through the hole!
Everybody loved this fun bunny card. I hope you do too.

Mar 23, 2014 | Easter, Stamper's Club |
Have you seen all the little 3-D ideas with chocolate kisses? I originally saw a shamrock probably more than a year ago. So glad that we have Pinterest now to “save” ideas for us. I wanted to do something like this for one of my March Stamp Club projects and while looking at the shamrock idea I also found a flower idea – I decided to use the flower idea for Stamp Club. These little chocolate kiss ideas came from another demonstrator named Brenda Quintana- she has lots of cute ideas. So here is how mine turned out –
I used strips of So Saffron and Wild Wasabi card stock. I added the Vintage Faceted Button with some White Baker’s Twine. And filled the flower with spring colored chocolate kisses. A spring flower! Now to decide if I want to make a bunch of these for Easter.
I’m so glad spring is here. The trees and flowers are starting to bloom around here. The birds are busy. And it’s really started to feel like spring. However I did notice in the weather forecast we have some cold nights coming this week – 27 and 32 degrees – ugh!
Now that I mentioned Stamper’s Club – I working up an email to send out to my email list about Stamper’s Club. It’s time to join! I’m making a few changes and also made the decision to skip April (lot’s going on here). So Stamper’s Club will get going in May again and there will be both Full time members and Part time members. If you live near me then it’s time to join my Stamper’s Club. We make fun projects and cards every month – we’ll be meeting at my house every month. Let me know if you are interested – leave a comment, send me an email – and if you are on my email list then you will get full details real soon.

Mar 28, 2013 | Big Shot, Cards, Create with Connie & Mary, Easter, Spring Catalog 2013 |
Well this is my last Create with Connie & Mary challenge card. It has been a fun time each week with the sketch and colors challenges. I’ll be doing something different for the month of April and then with a busy few months through the summer I don’t plan to be on any challenge teams for a while. Connie & Mary will have some new designers on the challenge team and they have a new Card class going on to so be sure to check out what they are doing.
This week at Create with Connie & Mary we were issued a sketch challenge!

I created an Easter card actually a few weeks ago and now I can’t remember if I made it based on this sketch or if it just conveniently worked out that way 🙂 – I think I’m getting old because I really can’t remember. So here it is –

It’s a perfect match to that sketch don’t you think? But it is a twist since it is an Oval shaped card – I love it! I made use of the Oval Framelits for all the layers on the card.
Here are the are some details –
- Cut a piece of Lucky Limeade card stock – 4-1/4 x 11 and score at 5-1/2″ – fold it in half and position it on the Big Shot with the large scallop oval framelit – you want the folded edge to be below the top of the oval so that it doesn’t get cut – this creates the folded base of the card.
- Cut a Chocolate Chip Oval with the next size oval and then cut a piece of the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper with the next size smaller. Layer these two together.
- Cut a strip of Chocolate Chip card stock and glue it across the layered ovals – then trim the ends along the oval shape.
- Tie a piece of Linen Thread around the strip – I used some snail on the back side to help hold it in place so it didn’t slip. I tied the bow to the left side where I added a Designer Builder Brad. The brad has a punch out from the designer paper in the center – covered by the clear bubble. Punch a hole through the layered oval and add the brad.
- Attach the layered oval to the front of the oval card base. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp Happy Easter (from Teeny Tiny Wishes) and cut with the Itty Bitty Banner Framelit – then attach to the front of the card.
- A beautiful egg shaped Easter card!
I’m spending the rest of the week getting ready for Easter – I will have 30 people here for lunch – mostly extended family and a few friends. I’m not sure we will have an egg hunt though – all the kids have grown up most are in college now – we have a few high schoolers but no little kids here this year. I may need to come up with some games to play instead.

Mar 26, 2013 | Big Shot, Easter |
Look at these sweet little flower treats (or bonnets they kind of look like that too).

We made these for my Spring Hands-on class this month. They are decorated for Easter, but another idea is to make them up for the Red Hat ladies. I bet they would love them too. They are really easy to make – just grab your Big Shot.
- Cut the two largest flowers from the Flower Folds Bigz XL die. Then run each through the Big Shot again with the embossing folder. Glue those two flowers together.
- Fill a Sweet Treat cup with some candy, pull of the liner and attach to the center of the flowers.
- To cover the edge of the treat cup punch first with the 1-3/4″ circle punch and then punch around the circle with the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle creating a scallop circle ring that fits around the treat cup – put some adhesive on the back and slide it over the treat cup.
- Tie some ribbon around the edge of the treat cup – I used the Primrose Petals stitched ribbon.
- I added a little tag with the word window punch – the Happy Easter is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and the little bunny is from the Itty Bitties stamp set. Tie the tag on with some Whisper White Baker’s Twine.
That’s it – make up a bunch and set them out for Easter treats.

Mar 14, 2013 | Big Shot, Create with Connie & Mary, Easter |
Easter is sneaking up really fast! I made invitations last week and mailed them all out to our family to invite them over for lunch on Easter Sunday. It is always a fun day to get the extended family all together in one place. So with Easter on my mind I decided to make something with that theme using this weeks challenge.
This week at Create with Connie & Mary we were issued a sketch challenge!

I wanted to create a little box for my class this Friday so I thought I would use the sketch as the basis for the box design. And here is the end result –

As you can see it pretty much follows the sketch. I decided to use the scallops on the outside and layered squares on the inside – that’s kind of the opposite of what’s on the sketch – so maybe you can say I turned it inside out. And instead of a button I have an egg and a collection of little bunnies on the side.
Here are the details on this box –
- The front and back of the box are the Scallop Square Bigz Die – and on the front I pierced a hole in each scallop.
- Between the two scallop squares I made myself a box – same idea as last weeks project (and I guess I’m still stuck on last weeks color challenge too – I used basically those same colors again). This box is just bigger.
- A layer of Summer Starfruit card stock and a piece of the designer paper from Birds of a Feather.
- The bunnies are from Ears to You – one of the single stamps – I stamped them in Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit and Raspberry Ripple and cut them out. I added a tiny pearl eye to each one and then one got a dahlia tail!
- Behind the bunnies I punched an oval from Primrose Petals card stock and used the piercing template to pierce around it.
- I tied Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the front layer.
- There is a little Happy Easter tag.
- And a Summer Starfruit ribbon handle.
- Fill with your favorite treat and give to someone special!
