2020 Seasonal Desktop Calendar

With the start of the new year it’s time to create a new desktop calendar.  I’ve been making this style of calendar for many years.  But this is the first year that I show you how to make it on a live video!  Last Monday I did a Facebook Live video that showed how I made the calendar and how it works.  You can see it here ===> https://www.facebook.com/AtMonikasPlace/videos/2975092499176998/

Below you will find photos, measurements, and a link to download the calendar strips.  Let me know if you make one.  In addition to the calendar I created 4 note cards that match each seasonal panel.  These use the same elements as the calendar – come back tomorrow to see those.

Traditional Christmas Crackers 3 Styles

In the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog you may have noticed the beautiful traditional Christmas Cracker boxes on page 30 & 31.  These are made with the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I made some of these and then decided that I wanted a smaller version for an event that my team would be hosting this month.  Our event was this past Friday and was a success.  So I wanted to share my project with you.  I’m going to share with you both sizes today and a third variation.  On Monday, Nov. 18th I filmed a FB Live showing how to make all three and some little 3D ornaments.  You can see that video HERE.

So let’s start with the large size that’s shown in the catalog.  You’ll want to cut a piece of paper to 8-3/4″ x 9″ – so you will want to choose something that comes in 12×12 size for these large ones.  My photo uses the Brightly Gleaming Specialty paper and also the Christmastime is Here Specialty paper. On the short side (that’s the 8-3/4″ side) you will score at 1-3/4″, 3-1/2″, 5-1/4″, and 7″.  Then you will use the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack to punch at every fold – push the punch all the way in from the side of the paper lining up the center of the punch on the fold.  Glue the end flaps together to make a 4 sided tube and then tie the ends shut with ribbon.

Supply List

  • #150429 Brightly Gleaming Specialty Paper
  • #150394 1/2″ Classic Weave Ribbon
  • #149590 3/8″ Denim Ribbon
  • #150647 Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack
  • #152154 Christmastime is Here Specialty Paper
  • #152156 Gold 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon
  • #152392 Paper Trimmer

So now let me show you the smaller version that I made.  I wanted to make it out of a 6×6 piece of paper so that I could use the pretty Feels Like Frost Paper Specialty paper.  I ended up with a smaller three sided version.  These are a nice size for table favors – you could even add names and use them as place cards.  The silver ones would work for New Years or even a wedding.

I started with the 6×6 piece of Feels Like Frost Specialty paper. On one side you will score at 1-3/4″, 3-1/2″, and 5-1/4″.  Now turn to the other side and score at 1-1/4″ and 4-3/4″.  Then you will use the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack to punch at every fold along the two score lines.  You’ll only slide the punch in a small amount.  Watch the video and you can see what I mean – also look at the photo below.  Glue the end flaps together so the small end is on the inside of the large end to make a 3 sided tube and then tie the ends shut with ribbon.

Supply List

  • #150444 Feels Like Frost Specialty Paper
  • #144213 3/8″ Silver Metallic-edge Ribbon
  • #150647 Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack
  • #152392 Paper Trimmer
  • #132178 Silver Foil
  • #124262 White Baker’s Twine
  • #150457 Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Then I wanted to make another version of this small one.  For this one I wanted to make one end flat so it would stand up.  You’ll do everything the same except on the second side score at 5-1/4″ instead of the 4-3/4″ and you won’t punch on that side.  Instead you will snip them and then trim the angles on each side.  The video will show you how.

On My Mind – Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop

Hello my friends – I am back from the Stampin’ Up! Incentive trip to the Greek Isles.  I’m not quite caught up to my blog posts but I did manage to squeak in with this Paper Pumpkin project for the monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is – On My Mind. This kit coordinates with three suites from the Annual catalog!  So if you love the look of these cards (and I know I do) you can use the coordinating products to keep on creating once your kit supplies are gone.

I love that some of the Paper Pumpkin kits are now coordinating with the Annual Catalog.  This month’s kit had three card designs and they match with three suites – Woven Thread Suite, Garden Lane suite, and Come Sail Away suite.  Personally I loved the cards as is and the one with the sail boat will make a perfect birthday card for my brother in early August!

I struggled with what alternate idea I wanted to do.  There aren’t really left overs from the kit this month and I loved the cards the way they were and the envelopes.  I think I’m in love with the printed envelopes but I don’t want to tear them up either.  So its a struggle.  I finally decided that I needed some tags.  Every month I create tags to go on my customer orders that get picked up at my house.  I may have told you that before.  So I decided to take the focal element of each card and create a tag idea with it.  I added in pieces of designer series paper from the coordinating suites and a couple of other things to complete my tags.

On My Mind Tags

Here are four tags for each of the card ideas.  I mostly added card stock, the coordinating Designer Series Paper from the suite, and some punches.  The tags are similar to the main focal image on each card.

Supply List

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

  • Card stock – Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Old Olive, Pool Party
  • Designer Series Paper – Woven Threads, Garden Lane, Come Sail Away
  • Punches – Everyday Label, Classic Label, Banner Triple Punch
  • Dies – Layering Circles, Stitched Shapes, Smooth Sailing
  • Linen Thread
  • Classic Ink – Crumb Cake

I’ll be sharing some tips and tricks in a Facebook Live on Monday, July 29 on my facebook page.  I’ll come back and update this post afterwards.

I hope you liked this alternate idea for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

The Blog Hop Continues

To continue through go and click on the next blog in the list below. Everything worked correctly last month – so I’m crossing my fingers that it will work again this time.

Don’t forget you have until the 10th of the month to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin and get that month’s kit.

The August kit will feature bags & tags and you’ll be able to order an extra bundle of coordinating supplies to turn your kit into a set of cards.  The extra items can be ordered starting August 1st in my online store.  To get the kit be sure you have an active Paper Pumpkin subscription by August 10th.    Sign up by the 10th – go here

Masculine Card Ideas

I shared several masculine card ideas in a Facebook Live video last month. You can view them here on my Facebook Page – click here. Not all the products are available to order anymore but these ideas are easily adaptable to things you may already have.

So let’s take a look at them.

I used the Geared Up Garage Designer Series Paper for these but you could choose a different patterned paper with masculine colors and patterns or in some cases use solid colors of card stock.  For this one I cut strips of paper and arranged them on a layer of card stock. I used the Happy Birthday die cut over the top of them all.  There’s not even any stamping on this one.  And for the inside just add a matching layer.

For this set I cut 3″ strips of the designer paper and added them to a layer of card stock.  I stamped on a small rectangle of white a greeting.  Tie some black cord around and use a knot instead of a bow for a more masculine feel.

This set again uses the designer paper and this time I cut out the cars from the paper.  I stamped a greeting on a strip of whisper white card stock.  It’s the piece that was left over from cutting the layer for the inside of the card. If you have the Geared Up Garage stamp set you could stamp and cut out the car with the die cut.

I think these ideas would also work to switch out the paper to the Come Sail Away paper.  Maybe I’ll try that later.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Laser Cut Paper Frame idea

Here is one more quick card using the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper. For this card I used one of the six panel pieces.  This one looks like an oval frame.  But instead of actually putting the frame on a card from I have used it to create a mask.  You can see how I did this in my Facebook Live from May 13, 2019  – view FB live video HERE.   I’ve been trying to stamp live every Monday on my Facebook page.  If you missed any you can go back and watch the replays.

I used my sponge daubers to add ink – Pear Pizzazz for the ground and Balmy Blue for the sky.  Then stamped in Black ink.  It’s a simple one layer little note card.

Supply List

  • #146907 Delightfully Detailed Laser-cut specialty paper
  • #147678 Country Home stamp set
  • #131527 Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes
  • #133773 Sponge Daubers
  • #147104 Pear Pizzazz Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • #147105 Balmy Blue Classic Stampin’ Pad

Laser Cut Note Cards

I have another set of cards using the beautiful Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper. For these cards I used the piece that you have to cut up and it gives you some different strips and then some panels.  The panels work perfectly with the Delightfully Detailed Note Cards & Envelopes.  I explained it all in my Facebook Live from May 13, 2019  – view FB live video HERE.   My next FB live video will be on Monday, May 20th.

Each panel fits perfectly on the front of the note cards.  There are four different watercolor wash designs in the pack – two are Blackberry Bliss and two are Mint Macaron. All are on a Very Vanilla base.   The laser-cut paper is Very Vanilla on one side so that is the side I used facing up.  To finish the cards I added a greeting that was stamped on a Very Vanilla circle, and matted with a Mint Macaron starburst punch.  The Faceted Dots and some Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon are the final touches to these fun little note cards.

Supply List

  • #146907 Delightfully Detailed Laser-cut specialty paper
  • #143717 Starburst Punch
  • #133782 2″ Circle Punch
  • #146911 Delightfully Detailed Note Cards & Envelopes
  • #146910 Faceted Dots
  • #146912 Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon
  • #146626 Treat Time Stamp set
  • #101650 Very Vanilla card stock
  • #138337 Mint Macaron card stock
  • #147088 Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • #103683 Mini Glue Dots
  • #110755 Multipurpose Liquid glue

I tried to take a photo to show you how to cut this paper.  First you cut off the 12″ strips – the longer ones.  Then you cut off the shorter strips.  Then you cut apart the six panels that you would use on your cards.  I am missing one of the panels – I used them all up in a class and didn’t have any more to show you.
