It’s a Spooky Cat

Did you see that Stampin’ Up! has a new cat punch?  It coordinates with the stamp set called Spooky Cat and the Spooky Night Designer Series paper.  We all love the coordination between products that Stampin’ Up! gives us.  And let me tell you there are quite a few things about these products that you might not realize so let me point out a few things for you. Oh – but first here is my card.

spooky-cat-halloween

For this card I just punched Cajun Craze card stock with the Cat punch and then used the stamp set to stamp the face on the cat.  The punch also coordinates with one of the images in the stamp set – it’s a cat shape filled with Halloween words.

Here is a look at the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper.

Holiday17_p52c

Now here are some things that you may not notice:

  • Can you see the print with the cats? It fits perfectly in the punch – so you can punch out the whole sheet of cats. And with the cat stamp if you want to stamp the words on the orange cat.
  • Now see the print with the tree/moon.  Those sheets are perfect 3×3 squares for that image – so 16 of them on one sheet.  And they are sized so that you can stamp the owl so he is sitting right on the branch.
  • See the pumpkin sheet.  Those pumpkins actually coordinate with the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits dies – you can cut them all but the tiniest one out with those dies!

I have cards coming showing all three of these.  So be sure to keep coming back.  The stamp set itself is really fun too.  Here is a bit more inspiration straight out of the pages of the catalog.

Happy 4th of July

It’s Independence Day here in the United States.  I wish you all a very happy 4th of July.

I have a little Red, White and Blue project for you.

RWB-crate

I’ve used several of my favorite new products from Stampin’ Up!

  • Wood Words Bundle – includes the Wood Words stamp set and Wood Crate Framelits Dies
  • Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack
  • Dapper Denim Baker’s Twine

Colors are Real Red, Whisper White and Dapper Denim – the perfect red, white and blue for this project.  Pick your favorite wood texture paper from the paper stack and cut the two pieces for your crate.  I used Tear & Tape to assemble.  Then I cut a piece of Real Red card stock to slip inside – its’ 3-1/4″ wide, 5″ long with a score line at 1-1/2″ on the long side.  Fold and slide in so it covers the bottom of the crate for some added support and the panel in the back – oh and I stamped the flowers across the back.

RWB-crate2

I stamped stars and cut them out with the Framelits.  Use the 1/16″ handheld punch for two of them.  Fill a 3×6 cello bag with red, white and blue taffy and tie with the Baker’s Twine – attach a star to the end of the strings and then I also attached one to the front of the crate.

My Stamper’s Club got to make one at our last meeting.  If you want to join my monthly club please contact me for more info.  We meet in my classroom once a month.

A nice little treat for today!  Enjoy!

Fun to create with

Do you ever find a stamp set or set of products that are just fun to create with?  Well I think the Stampin’ Up! catalog has such a set.  I really don’t NEED this set for anything in particular but every time I go through the catalog I am drawn to this suite of products.  At first I resisted.  I started with just buying the Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper.  Then I bought the coordinating Baker’s Twine.  Then I decided to get the Washi Tape.  I was resisting getting the stamp set because I really didn’t need it.  But darn it.  I gave in.  The whole suite is just fun and makes me happy.  I bet that was the plan all along!!

Here is the first card I made with the stamp set inspired by a swap card I received.

P-a-p-hello

On my card I used Sahara Sand, Emerald Envy, Basic Black and Whisper White card stock.  I used the Basic Black Baker’s Twine on the card.  The Twines shown with the suite in the catalog are the Flirty Flamingo and the Crushed Curry and Basic Black solid twines.

The bottom white piece is stamped – dino in Emerald Envy, sold spots in Sahara Sand, open spots are Basic Black.  This is really just random stamping to fill up the white strip.  I attached at the bottom of the Emerald Envy layer and the patterened paper on the top and then add the Basic Black strip to cover the seam.  Tie the twine around and add to the Sahara Sand card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stamp the Hello There in Emerald Envy on Whisper White card stock and punch it out with the 1-3/4″ Circle punch.  The image is a bit wonky so its not an even fit but it works!

Cute and Fun – if that’s what you want this suite is for you.

One more Pick a Pattern card

I have another card for you using some of the same supplies as the last one – the Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper and the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.

pick-a-pattern-circles

This card is the same layout as an earlier graduation card that I posted.  For this one I pulled out all the patterns with Basic Black and Crushed Curry in them.  I used my 1″ Circle punch for all the circles and randomly layered them on my Whisper White card stock.  I trimmed any that hung over the edge and used those little trimmed pieces to fill in any spots that needed it along the edges.

Create a banner and stamp the greeting.  I wound some Basic Black Metallic Thread around my banner before attaching to the front of the card.  This is a quick and easy card that you can create with any Designer Series Paper and coordinating colors of card stock.

Did you know that many Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators use the acronym DSP when they are talking about Designer Series Paper.  That’s what Stampin’ Up! calls their patterned paper and DSP is easier to say and faster to write! You won’t be disappointed when you look through this new catalog at the paper – there are so many new beautiful papers in it.

Pick a Pattern Birthday

One of my favorite new dies in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog is the Happy Birthday Thinlits Dies.  It comes bundled with the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.  Besides the new In-Colors that I have been showing you since the catalog started this die is my most used item so far.  Here is another card I made – actually I made this one first and then the one using the In-Colors which is the exact same layout.

HB-pick-pattern

This one uses a different Designer Paper which is where the color combination came from.  I think these colors are more suited to a guy or a pre-teen/teen aged birthday.  This paper is the Pick A Pattern Designer Series Paper.  It has lot of fun hand-drawn patterns and detailed images and some bright colors. I used the Crushed Curry pattern with the fun circles and paired it with Sahara Sand and Basic Black.

It’s a quick and easy card design – just alter your designer paper piece and choose coordinating colors for the card stock and twine.  You could actually make this card with no stamping at all if you just use the die.  I added the little “belated” stamp from Happy Birthday Gorgeous set.

Thanks for visiting today.  I have my oldest son in town from Seattle for a few days and the middle one is here too.  We have some family time schedule for this weekend.  I hope you all do the same.

Notes for everyone

At the end of April I held a Sale-a-Bration Celebration event for my customers and my downline.  It was an event that they had to qualify to attend – they were able to see some sneak peeks of new products from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! catalog.  Everyone made a few projects, had some snacks, we played Bingo for fun prizes and I made everyone a little gift.  I made them a little note holder.

notes

I used the thick card board pieces that come in some of our designer series paper packs and cut the card board into 5″ x 3″ pieces.  Then I cut pieces of Designer Paper to cover one side of the card board.  Each notebook has a front and a back.  I cut regular printer paper to put on the inside.  I used my old crop-a-dile to punch a hole through the cardboard and paper and added a ring to hold it all together.

To decorate the front I cut letters using the Large Letters Framelits – NOTE – from coordinating card stock.  I used the Blossom Builder punch to punch a little flower and glued it on the O and added a pearl to the center.  I tied some matching ribbon on the ring.  A cute and useful little gift for everyone.

I made all different ones using up lots of my paper that I had left.  I let everyone that came to the event pick one out as they arrived.  Those that were unable to attend – you have a packet coming in the mail – they went out today.  They should all have plenty of space to write down what they want from the new catalog.

Thanks for stopping by today!
