Box of Hugs

A few months back I signed up to walk in the It’s the Journey 2-Day Breast Cancer walk here in Georgia.  The walk will be held in mid October in Atlanta.  It’s a 2 day walk that is 30 miles long.  I’ve been training to get my feet, legs and body ready to walk that far.  Right now my longest walk has been 10.5 miles.  Monday I’m planning to do an even longer walk.  In addition to the actual walking I have to also raise some money.  So last month I held a Pop of Pink class and $10 from every class fee I put in my walker fund.  I was able to donate $150 to my fund and I’m now half way to my goal!

One of the projects from the class was this sweet little Box of Hugs.  I thought it turned out so cute and would be a sweet gift for someone battling breast cancer or anything else.  We filled each box with about 15 Hugs and on the bottom of each added a little circle of the Pop of Pink Designer Paper.  Since the boxes are clear you can see the bottoms through the sides.  Each box is wrapped with some Designer Paper and tied with Thick Baker’s Twine.  On the top I added the die cut heart and the word hope.  They are both from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits.  You could use the same idea for a bridal shower and use the word Love instead of Hope.  Or for a graduation and use Congrats.  Lots of possibilities.

I hope you like this little project.  If you wanted to donate to my walker fund you can visit my fundraising page here.

The other project was a set of cards in a little bag.  Come back again to see that one.

Thanks for visiting.

Product Suites

Questions 3 & 4 on my catalog scavenger hunt had to do with the Product Suites in our catalog.

3.  Product Suites are coordinating products that make it easy to get creative with matching products.  How many Product Suites are in the new catalog?

Here is a list of all the product suites – there are 14 of them:

  • Festive Birthday – bright & playful – pg. 10/11
  • This Christmas – traditional & elegant – pg. 26/27
  • Thankful Thoughts –  gratitude with attitude – pg. 38/39
  • Affectionately Yours – florals & copper – pg. 44/45
  • A Little Foxy – cute baby critters – pg. 56/57
  • Moroccan – artfully exotic – pg. 66/67
  • Floral Boutique – hand-painted florals – pg. 76/77
  • Pop of Pink – patterns that pop – pg. 84/85
  • By the Shore – soft & nautical – pg. 92/93
  • Serene Scenery – inspired by nature – pg 102/103
  • Playful Palette – modern & colorful – pg. 118/119
  • Irresistibly Floral – just add ink – pg. 126/127
  • Blooms & Bliss – whimsical florals – pg. 138/139
  • Fruit Stand – fresh fruit & flowers – pg. 148/149

4.  Which Product Suite is your favorite?

My favorite is the Little Foxy suite – I love those little critters.  I also like the Serene Scenery – the nature feel is definitely me.  I just haven’t had a chance to play with it yet.

I’m struggling a little with the Playful Palette – it’s a little too much color something or not colors that I like together.  I’m not quite sure.  But I did create this fun card and I do LOVE it.

I used the Playful Palette Paper Stack and Card Stock pack.  I did use a different stamp set – I don’t have the one in the suite.

I punched circles (or use the Layering Circle Framelits) from the different patterns of paper – crumpled them up and then semi flattened them out to glue the centers together.  There is nothing perfect about this flower – just layer the circles up however and it makes a fun flower.  The leaf is also a circle punch just folded to create a leaf.

Enjoy.

Designer Paper Squares

This card idea is actually very versatile and I’ve seen several of these online and in some swaps that I’ve received.  It is a great idea for using up scraps of your Designer Paper.  Pick your paper, coordinating card stock, a greeting and a fun little element to add as an accent.  You could use this for all different occasions.

I created this one with the Love Blossoms Designer Paper Stack and Bloomin’ Love stamp set.

Use the 1″ Square Punch to punch out squares from the various patterns in the Designer Paper stack.  Arrange in a grid on a piece of coordinating card stock.  Add a greeting punched with the Decorative Label (or other) punch.

Here is another one that is a Thank You card:

This one uses the Pretty Petals paper stack from the annual catalog and the Endless Thanks stamp set.  The flowers in the stamp set coordinate with the patterns in the paper.

I think next I’m going to create a birthday card in this same design.  What kind of card do you want to make with your paper scraps?

Only 5 more days of the Holiday Catalog

Here is a quick card using some Holiday catalog products:

simple-Christmas-card E

There is really only one Holiday catalog product on this card and it’s the Home for Christmas Designer Paper.  So many prints in the pack where the images made great focal points.  The poinsettias, the reindeer, the trees, the Santa’s. You could use any of those as the focal point on this design – either by just cutting with the circle dies (or punch) or fussy cutting the image and adding to the circle.

Sadly I just checked and this paper pack has already sold out!  Darn it. You could use the Reason for the Season stamp set and create a similar card to this.

Here is the full supply list for this card – click on an item to go to my online store.  Don’t miss the Year End sale.

Timeless Elegance

The new Timeless Elegance Designer Paper in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog is really beautiful in person.  The colors are Basic Black, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla – and the designs are elegant enough for a wedding and soft enough for a sympathy card.  If you want to add a pop of color use a sponge and sponge over the designs in your desired color.

Here is a card that I created –

timeless elegance E

If you need something more masculine there are plenty of prints in the pack that work.

For this card I used Sahara Sand card stock, a square piece of the designer paper and the Sahara Sand Lace Ribbon – it is so soft and easy to use.  Stamp a greeting on the bottom – here I used one from A Dozen Thoughts.  Another stamp set that works perfect for this card is the Chalk it Up to Love Photopolymer set that came in the August Paper Pumpkin kit.  The words and the swirls are perfect for this card too.
