For All You Do Chipboard Purse

I saw the cutest purse at my friend Wendy’s house earlier this year.  She said it was a project that they made at the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference that was held in January for qualifying Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators.  I did qualify to attend but the trip didn’t fit into my schedule this year.  I do plan to attend in 2011 in Nashville, TN and would love to have some travel buddies from my downline or sidelines so make sure you set your goals toward this.   I attended in 2009 in Orlando, FL and it was wonderful – much smaller than convention and Stampin’ Up! treats us so well with catered lunches and lots of surprises.

So on to this project – I took a picture of Wendy’s but didn’t actually get any instructions of measurements so mine may not be exactly the same as the one they created.  We made this as a Stamper’s Club project a couple of months ago.  Unfortunately several of the products that I used have not retired from the catalog but you can still create this using current products.  Just use new Designer Series Paper and cut your chipboard to the size that you want your purse to be.

The front decorations are the stamp set called For All You Do – the flowers and butterfly are hand cut – I always like the look of that and I know some people don’t like detailed cutting so you could stamp directly on the front of the purse.  I like the dimension that is added by cutting them out and popping them up on dimensionals.

Everyone added a monogram to the front – I actually cut it out of a white coaster so that it would also have dimension to it.  I think the original ones from leadership are just white card stock.

Almost Artisan – Scrapbook Page 3

Hi girls (and maybe guys – I  figure its mostly girls but who knows there are a some guys that are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators)!

Now that I’m done sharing all my cards from the Artisan Award contest it is time to share my last scrapbook page.  If you follow my blog you know that in the spring I spend time bird watching, taking pictures and blogging about the visitors to my yard, the nests and the babies.  So for one of my scrapbook pages I decided to focus on my birds from this spring.

The title is “backyard birds”.  The letters are die cut with the Big Shot and then I stamped on them and some are tied with linen thread – in bows.  I love linen thread – I don’t love to tie bows – but it needed it on here – knots just weren’t enough.

Here is a close up of part of the title.  Again I have minimal journaling – I should have written more for my scrapbook pages.

In the upper left corner is a chipboard flower covered with DSP – the paper is the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper.  I wish this paper had been a little bit brighter – all the colors were very muted.

I used the white gel pen and did doodling on the flower, under the title, and around the photo frames.  I added the punched corner with the card stock layered behind it – I still can’t decide if I really liked it or not.  I originally didn’t have it but I thought it needed something else in that corner and once I did it I couldn’t undo it.

Each of the bird pictures are layered on a piece of Whisper White as a mat and then on a piece of the Designer Series paper.  Then I used the word window and added labels on the bottom with the name of each bird.

That is my final scrapbook page and what I have left is my last 3D project.  So come back again if you want to see it.

Have a beautiful day!

My Why

Stampin’ Up! has a new training program that they have offered to some of the demonstrators.  I was eligible so I have decided to participate.  It is a 16 week training program and includes training modules and challenges.  During that time I might be posting information to my blog, my website, sending out emails or making calls to complete the challenges.  We are in Module 1 and one of the challenges was to write a “My Why” statement – in others why did I want to be a part of this training.  And in addition to making the statement they suggested we create a stamping project where we can display it and see it every day to keep the motivation.  I thought the project turned out cute and could be used for other things – even to just display a photo so I wanted to share the project with you.

I used a piece of the On Board Small Book Basics chipboard – these are 5″ x7″.   I covered the chipboard with a piece of Designers Series Paper from the Write Stuff Specialty paper pack – it is the Soft Suede dots.  I sanded all the edges with my sanding block.

The “WHY” is cut from the Big Shot and the SU Alphabet Simple Letters dies – I cut Old Olive card stock and a piece of cardboard – it was actually the thick card board that comes in the Decor Elements.  I took the Old Olive letters and ran them back through the Big Shot in the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder then sponged them with Old Olive ink.  These were glued to the cardboard letters and attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added a little bit of Linen Thread – I love Linen thread.

The flower is the Floral Fusion Sizzlit die cut out of Bashful Blue card stock.  Then I used the faux suede technique – this is where you pull the card stock across the bone folder in all directions and on both sides until the layers of the card stock come apart – then I peeled each flower into two layers revealing the soft inside that looks like suede.  I stacked all the layers on top of each other to create the flower – a Vintage brad is in the center.

I used very Vanilla card stock to print my “My Why” statement, matted it on Old Olive – added a strip of Soft Suede at the bottom with the scallops and a strip of the Bashful Blue.  I used the Crop-a-Dile to punch to holes in the top corners and added ribbon for a hanger.

You could create a My Day board and put a little notepad there and then write down the items you need to complete that day and mark them off as you go.  Or a To Do board or whatever you might need.

Now on to the next challenge – to write my Stampin’ Up! Story……

Quilted Heart Box

This project is a combination of ideas – the chipboard heart box idea is from Mary Brown – one of the designers for the Create with Connie & Julie class (you can still join the class) – the quilted decorating idea is from a swap card that I saw at my friend Wendy’s house – and the flower idea is from the Stampin’ Success Magazine – a magazine for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators.  I put all three ideas together and – ta – da ………………………

Isn’t it cute?  I used the On Board Chipboard hearts to create the box following Mary’s instructions.  Then I decorated the front heart using punched squares from the various papers in the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  We punched holes in the top corner with the Crop-A-Dile and added the Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon bow.

The flower is made with the Jumbo Heart Punch – punch four hearts – then I ran them through the Big Shot using the new Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder.  The center is a circle punch and then I used a Real Red Corduroy brad to hold the flower pieces together.  Everything is sponged in Chocolate Chip to soften all the edges.

Add something inside the box and you have a nice gift or table center piece. This was a club project that we made at the February Stamper’s Club Meeting.  I’m adding new members to my club right now and we’ll have our next meeting  in March.  Email me if you live nearby and want to join my stamp club.

Here is another version of this project decorated with the Sweet Pea Designer Series paper.  This one looks like spring instead of Valentine’s day.  You could use it for Mother’s Day, or a Bridal Shower or Baby Shower or just to celebrate spring.

The chipboard shapes are much larger than I thought they were looking at them in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  You get 8 chipboard pieces in each pack for $4.95.  So you can make 4 boxes out of each pack.  And there are two other shapes – the scallop circle and a bird.

Thanks for stopping in to see me today!

Garden from the Heart Scrapbook Page

If you haven’t noticed I have been trying to participate in various challenges.  I figure it keeps me thinking and my creativity flowing – maybe sometimes pushes you to use/do/try something you wouldn’t normally do.  A personal challenge is I always try to take what I see and make it with all Stampin’ Up! items.  I am on a mailing list from one of the scrapbook magazines and received an email from one the ladies this weekend about a new blog she started and a new challenge – 52 weeks of stress free scrapbooking – now that sounded interesting so I went to check out her blog and she has week 1 scrapbook layout posted.  I normally create 2-page layouts but this was a single page and the challenge is to make one a week for 52 weeks – that would certainly fill up a scrapbook for 2010 – so why not – I can do this – yesterday I worked on my week 1 layout  – I changed a few things – and used all Stampin’ Up! product, of course.

The background is a 12 x 12 piece of So Saffron.  Then I layered a 11-3/4 x 11-3/4 piece of Sahara Sand. I used the Tall Tales Designer Series Paper – two different patterns – the So Saffron dots and the stripes of So Saffron and Old Olive.

The circle is chipboard from On Board Batch of Blooms chipboard.  I “painted” it with Old Olive craft ink and a sponge dauber.  Then punched holes in it with my Crop-A-Dile.  I add Basic Grey Tafetta Ribbon by threading it through the holes and typing a bow at the bottom of the circle.  So now I can enter this one in the Late Night Stampers challenge for this week – which was to use ribbon.

I stamped with Basic Grey ink using the new stamp set Garden from the Heart that is in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I colored the images with my Stampin’ Write Markers – So Saffron, Old Olive and Sahara Sand and a White Gel Pen.  For the hat I added a So Saffron flower button from the Button Latte Designer buttons – in the center I added a silver brad.  Under the hat I added just a little bit of Sahara Sand with an Aqua painter to add a shadow.

I also stamped with the splatter image from Itty Bitty backgrounds and Sahara Sand ink around the corners and edges on the layout.  The photos are some that I took earlier this year of a flock of Cedar Waxwing’s that came through our yard this spring.  I usually see them only once maybe twice as they migrate through our area.  They come in a big flock and these pictures show them enjoying the bird bath and fountain in my back yard.

I also stamped the curly label tag image and punched it out.  Since I didn’t have a Basic Grey marker and wanted to use the image with out the words I used a masking technique.  I covered the words with a piece of tape – then inked the image on my Basic Grey ink pad.  Removed the tape and then stamped on my Whisper White card stock.  That gave me the label without the words.  It was punched with the Curly Label punch and then layered with a die cut using the Movers & Shapers Curly Label die.  I added a Basic Grey corduroy button – with some white crochet thread (ok I had one non- Stampin’ up! item).

It is much prettier in person than in these photos.  The White Gel pen really pops on the Sahara Sand card stock.  I’m done with my week 1 scrapbook page – 51 more weeks to go…..

Thanks for visiting today!

Alphabet Letter Frames

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  I know I did.  We had a fairly quiet Christmas eve.  Greg’s mom joined us at our house for dinner and opening of presents.  Santa came over night and filled stockings and left some presents for the boys.  Greg’s mom came back (she lives near by) Christmas morning and ate breakfast with us.  In the afternoon we packed up all of us and the dogs and headed to my parents house.  A much more chaotic evening as my brother and his family and his wife’s family all came to my parents house.  There were 15 of us for dinner and more exchanging of gifts.  Noah, my 4 year old nephew was unwrapping gifts as fast as he could only to discover that we got him (and my parents too) the same lego set that Santa brought.  What a sad little face when he realized both lego sets were duplicates and he had nothing new to play with.  Ally, my 3 year old niece was a little bit slower with opening her gifts and happy with her doll, books, and the little bag I made her.

The non-toy gift that I got them were these Alphabet Letter frames – well they aren’t really frames but I added pictures to them.  This was a project that my friend Wendy designed for her gift making class.  I decorated an ‘A’ for Ally and an  ‘N’ for Noah.

For Noah’s letter I used the Pawstively Prints Designer Series paper to cover chipboard stars.  I sanded the edges and sponged the stars.   The stars were cut using the Big Shot and the Stars #2 die using the Long Board chipboard pieces that you can order from the Stampin’ Up! catalog.

I stamped sailboats – colored with Stampin’ Write Markers on Whisper White card stock and cut those out.   The ‘N’ was stamped with Black StazOn ink using several stamp sets – Extreme Elements, Priceless, Lovely Letters Alphabet, and Just Perfect Alphabet.

The photos are matted with Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, and Ballet Blue card stock.  I printed the photos using a collage format so it printed a variety of small sizes that worked great for this project.

For Ally’s letter I used the Tea Party Designer Series Paper to cover chipboard flowers.  The flowers were cut using the Big Shot and the Stampin’ Up! Blossom Party die from pieces of the Long Board Chipboard.  The flowers were sanded and sponged.

The ‘A’ is stamped with Black StazOn ink using the Priceless stamp set.  The name is stamped using the Lovely Letters Alphabet and the Just Right Alphabet.  A Rhinestone brad accents the center of the large flower.

The pictures are matted in So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Almost Amethyst.

The letters set inside the stand so you can put them on a shelf or dresser in each of their bedrooms.  They turned out very nice and I hope that they will like looking at them.  I tried to choose photos that I had taken so that they were photos that their mom and dad hadn’t seen before.

I gave several hand-made gifts this year.  This was one of them.

I need to clean my craft room – I have lots to do in here – working on projects for the Create with Connie & Julie class.  Don’t forget to sign up for early bird pricing!
