Monday was a busy day

Well Monday turned out to be a busy day!  Right after I finished my blog post yesterday I left the house – met my friend Diane – and then headed to lunch with a few other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators to be part of a Focus Group.  We were treated to a delicious lunch – family style at Maggianno’s – and discussed our topic.  I think when it was all said and done we were there for about 3 hours.  Diane and I walked around the mall – the restaurant is attached to the mall.  And slowly made our way over to the pizza place were we were meeting 23 other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators for dinner.  That was fun!

Following dinner we headed to the movie theater and waited patiently for the Stampin’ Up! Catalog Premiere!  I believe there were about 150 of us in this theater but total across the country there were over 7600 demonstrators.  We were all ready to watch a live-streaming video of the new annual catalog premiere.   I thought it was a great event and an exciting way to introduce the Stampin’ Up! catalog.  I sure hope that Stampin’ Up! does this again.

We were there for 2-1/2 hours as the Stampin’ Up! staff showed us the new catalog, new stamp sets and products and made us laugh.  They were live in California.  As we left we got our brand new 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog!!  Plus a brand new stamp set!  And a few people even won prize patrols.  One of my downline Cindy won the first prize patrol – so exciting!  And I can show you the front of the catalog!  Are you ready?

Tell Me Tuesday – 12/31/13

Can you believe it’s the last day of 2013?  Another year has come and gone – wow. I missed some days posting to my blog – shortly after Christmas Kyle got sick, then I got sick – I think a stomach bug.  Today I’m feeling pretty good and trying to get some things done.  Ryan had his wisdom teeth out right before Christmas (on Monday) and I took him back for a check up today and all was good.  And then I booked flights for Kyle and I to go to San Francisco in January to look at places for him to live.  He will be moving out there in February – I’m not sure I’m ready for that but I can’t keep it from happening either.  I’m very grateful that he has this opportunity and I know he will enjoy his first job with Facebook.

It’s time to sparkle!

Here is a sparkling project for you to create for your next party celebration.  A birthday, wedding, patriotic holidays, any number of things that include sparkle and fun!

This was a project that we made at my last demonstrator meeting.  Leishman designed it and brought enough for everyone to make their own.  It uses the Petite Pocket Pouch (remember I said I had another project using that die – here it is) die-cut with the Big Shot and then embossed with the Fancy Fan embossing folder.    This is a modified idea from one in the main Stampin’ Up! catalog.  the card that is tucked inside holds the sparklers and a match is tied on with the ribbon.

It’s a fun little project don’t you think?

Grow Kits

I’m trying to see what I still haven’t shared from the things that I made and took to the Stampin’ Up! Convention this year.  This little project was one of my favorite and I would have made more but I ran out of time and out of the little peat pellets.  I made a handful of them and gave them out to some of my “online” friends.

With the convention theme of GROW – I decided to make a little growing kit – I used some bags that I had purchased and found peat pellets – they are little round disks of compressed dirt like peat – you add water and they expand for you to plant your seeds.  Each bag has four and I decided to copy the images that are on the corner pages in our new Idea Book & Catalog – have you noticed the pot in the corner that grows as you go through the sections of the catalog?  Well that was where my idea came from.

The flower pot is from the Pennant Parade stamp set – I used a Cajun Craze marker to ink only the base.  The rain drops are the “seeds” from the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch – the third setting with the detail.  The stems are just an Old Olive marker.  The flower is from the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set – I used Melon Mambo ink.  The butterfly is from the Charming stamp set and it is Peach Parfait ink.

These were all stamped on Whisper White and punched with the 1-1/4″ Circle punch.  The edges were sponged with Old Olive ink and then layered on a 1-3/8″ Old Olive Circle punch out.  Then I attached them to the peat pellet with a bit of snail.    The pellets actually have a thin netting around them so the adhesive sticks to that.  I slid all four into a cello bag.

I put Wildflower seeds into a 1×8 skinny cello bag and sealed it by folding it almost in half.  Then I tied a piece of Bakers Twine and a modern label tag to the top of each.  I hand wrote “wildflower seeds” on each tag.  I slid this into the larger cello bag next to the peat pellets.

I added a bag topped that I created in My Digital Studio and a set of instructions.  Both were printed on Whisper White card stock.  The topper used the GROW digital stamp image for My Digital Studio.  On the back I had a message to my friends.  The instructions were printed and cut to slide into the cello bag behind the seeds and pellets.  I used Peach Parfait ribbon to tie around the top.

They really turned out cute and I hope everyone uses them to “Grow” this year!  I wish I had saved one for myself but I gave them all away.
