Apr 9, 2014 | Big Shot, Birthday, Cards, Occasions Catalog 2014 |
I love my animals and the Animal Talk stamp set is one of my favorites. I needed a “DOG” or animal card for a class last month and came up with this one that uses the new Hardwood stamp set (LOVE IT!!) and the Animal Talk stamp set. I just changed my profile picture here on my blog – you can see it over on the right-hand side bar. If you get this update by email – click on the title of the post to go to my blog and see the picture. It is one of my favorites because I feel like it is so me. Sitting outside with a bunch of dogs! While only 2 of the dogs are actually mine. The other two hung around our cabin the whole time we were there and joined us like they were part of the family. This was several years ago but its still one of my favorite photos.

Here are the details of the card:
- Crumb Cake card base
- Crumb Cake layer stamped with the Hardwood Stamp – stamped in Crumb Cake ink
- The words are stamped in Chocolate Chip ink
- Tie a piece of the Chevron Natural Ribbon around the layer – actually you fold it around the card stock and then use a piece of Linen Thread to tie it together on the edge.
- Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock with the Apothecary framelit and stamp the dog image in Chocolate Chip ink on it – cut the right side off straight against the edge of the card. I actually stamp first and then cut the shape with my Big Shot – then put it on the card and cut off the extra on the side.
- I colored in the dogs spots with my Crumb Cake stampin’ write marker.

Apr 8, 2014 | Big Shot, Birthday, Cards, Occasions Catalog 2014 |
I combined the Happy Watercolor stamp set with Coastal Cabana and created a birthday card for one of my card classes last week. I received a similar card as a swap (from Georgia) but it was Crisp Cantaloupe and I wanted to change up the color. My group requested a feminine birthday card so this was it.

Here are the basics for this card:
- Chocolate Chip card base
- Coastal Cabana front layer – stamp the Happy Birthday on the bottom with Chocolate Chip ink – then emboss with the Arrows Embossing folder above where you stamped – then punch a circle with the 2-1/2″ circle punch
- Whisper White layer underneath – stamp the watercolor brush in Coastal Cabana, stamp the flower in Chocolate Chip, stamp the spots in Gold – attach it to the back of the Coastal Cabana piece so it shows through the circle
- Tie a piece of Gold Baker’s Twine around the Coastal Cabana piece and tie in a bow – attach it to the front of the card
- On the inside I added a piece of Whisper White and stamped a little bit in the corner.
And you can stamp the corner of your envelope to match too – that’s always a fun addition.
Thanks for stopping by today – come back again tomorrow.

Apr 3, 2014 | Cards, Easter, Sale-A-Bration 2014 |
All my Crumb Cake card stock is all gone! Why? Because everyone loved this card so much that I used it all up in my last two classes. Yep the Bunny Butt card is a big winner! And now I need to order more Crumb Cake card stock. It’s an old idea that I revisited with some new Stampin’ Up! products.

Here are the details – it’s really pretty quick to make.
- The card base is Crumb Cake and the front is stamped with the Hardwood Background stamp using Chocolate Chip ink.
- Punch the hole in the front with the 1-3/4″ Circle punch
- Layer on the inside a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock – I put mine on with Stampin’ Dimensionals to make it look like an actual hole – like the bunny is jumping through the fence.
- The Happy Easter is just on a strip of Whisper White that I cut into the banner shape with my paper snips. The stamp is from the Delightful Dozen stamp set.
- I also sponged the edges of the banner with some Crumb Cake ink and tied a piece of the Crisp Cantaloupe Baker’s Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack in the Sale-a-Bration brochure – I hope you got some before if ended!
- Now let’s make this little bunny butt. Punch from Whisper White card stock – one 1-3/4″ circle, two large oval, and two 7/8″ scallop circle. Sponge all the edges with Crumb Cake ink.
- Punch two pieces of the Crisp Cantaloupe print out of the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series paper (or use the one from the In-color paper stack) using the old retired small oval punch. I know – we don’t sell this one anymore but it’s the perfect size for this so that is what I used. If you don’t have you could use our current small oval it just give a different look.
- Glue the small ovals to the large ovals to make the bottom of his feet. Then use the fat end of the Crisp Cantaloupe Stampin’ Write Marker to make three toe marks – I literally just laid the mark tip down and lifted it back up to create the marks.

- Glue the feet to the large circle.
- Crumple up the small scallop circles to get them fluffy for his tail. Glue the two of them together and then use a dimensional to add the tail to the big circle.
- attach the bunny butt to the card so he looks like he’s jumping through the hole!
Everybody loved this fun bunny card. I hope you do too.

Apr 1, 2014 | Birthday, Cards, Paper Pumpkin |
I have another alternate idea to share for one of the past Paper Pumpkin kits. This one is for the Pedal Praise Monthly Kit – this one was from August 2013. I used it to make a birthday card.

I love the little silver mini brad in the center of each wheel. And the lines are from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set make the perfect “road”. I saw a card similar to this on Pinterest. Colors are Smoky Slate, Real Red and Whisper White. A little touch of embossing using the Alphabet Press Folder – it not only has letters but some numbers as well so when I embossed my little piece I positioned it to pick up some of the numbers since this was a birthday card.
You can see other ideas with past kits by visiting my Paper Pumpkin Idea Pinterest Board.

Mar 26, 2014 | Cards, Occasions Catalog 2014, Paper Pumpkin, Washi Tape |
Back in January I went to the Stampin’ Up! Leadership and participated in the Paper Pumpkin craft wars. We only had about 15 minutes to create a card using past Paper Pumpkin kit stamps and new products from the Occasions catalog. My card was one of the selected winners! For my Paper Pumpkin Hands-On class this month I decided to create another version of this card using the same idea. To see the original card go to THIS blog post.
Here is the new card – another alternate idea using some of the past Paper Pumpkin card kits.

You may not be able to tell right away but I used the stamps from two different Paper Pumpkin Kits. The obvious one is the Hey There Friend which is the Welcome Kit that everyone receives when they join Paper Pumpkin. It has the fun splatter and the words in it. The second set that I used is the Party Pennants stamps from the July 2013 Paper Pumpkin kit – there were three little background stamps in the kit and I used those to create my flowers. The stamps are perfect for creating “designer paper” in any color that you want to punch flowers or other shapes.
Here are some of the specifics for this card:
- The card base is Crumb Cake.
- Then I have two layers – a layer of Coastal Cabana and the Whisper White layer
- The Whisper White layer is stamped with the splatter using the Gold Encore ink – I did stamp multiple times between inking which gives varying degrees of gold splatter. The “hey there friend” is stamped in Coastal Cabana ink.
- To create the flowers I stamped each of the Party Pennants backgrounds on Whisper White card stock – one in Coastal Cabana, one in Bermuda Bay and one in Pool Party. Then use the Petite Petals Punch to punch out two flowers from each one. Then I used the matching Stampin’ Write Marker to go around the edge of each flower. I think it gives the flowers some extra definition.
- Punch a small hole in the center of each flower. Pull some of the Gold Sequins off of the trim and then string a sequin and both matching flowers onto a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine. Tie a knot in the ribbon for the center of the flower.

- I attached the flowers on to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then took all three pieces of Baker’s Twine and knotted them together.
- Add a piece of the Coastal Cabana Ruffled Ribbon to the front with a piece of the Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi tape. Then I added another piece of Washi Tape.
- Put the White/Coastal Cabana layers on the card base.
What do you think? I really like how the flowers turned out. And I’m happy with the whole card – the gold with all the shades of blue are very pretty together.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Mar 25, 2014 | Cards, Paper Pumpkin, Simply Scored, Thank You |
I had a fun Hand’s On stamping class this month showing alternate ideas with the past Paper Pumpkin kits. The stamps are lots of fun and only part of the Paper Pumpkin kits you won’t find them in the regular catalog. So we went “out of the box” and made some new projects with all the fun stamps. I’ll be sharing the ideas I came up with over the next few days. Here is the first one –

Can you guess which past Paper Pumpkin kit I’m using here?
It’s a recent one – the In the Bag kit from February 2014. There were two great circle stamp images in the kit and I used the polka dot image on this card. I stamped on Whisper White card stock in the five different colors (Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Pacific Point) and then punched each one out with the 1″ circle punch. The left over pieces were rather fun looking and I have something planned for those too!
Here are some more details on this card:
- On a Whisper White card stock layer I put it on my Simply Scored board and scored two lines.
- Then glued on my punched circles above the lines. I started by placing the two outside circles, then centered the one in the middle and then filled in with the other two – this was so they would be spread out evenly.
- Stamp a greeting in Jet Black StazOn ink – I used “thanks” from the Another Thank You photopolymer stamp set.
- Place the layer back on the Simply Scored board to score two more lines where the greeting is stamped – but don’t score through the greeting. What I did was score with the greeting facing up – this indents the paper – then turned it over and score exactly on those same lines – so it would be raised on the front.
- Layer the white on a Daffodil Delight Card Stock base.
- Add a bow tied in the Basic Black Taffeta ribbon with a glue dot.

I hope you like this alternate idea for the In the Bag stamp set from the February 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit. If you would like to join and be a member – just CLICK HERE – join before March 31, 2014 and you will get a free set of In-color Stampin’ Write markers.
Have a great day!
