The coordinating products in the Sale-A-Bration Sweet Sorbet collection – designer paper and bakers twine from the accessory pack.  I paired it with the Label Love bundle which includes the Label Love stamp set and the coordinating Artisan Label punch.  With card stock that matches our ink and designer paper this card came together in no time.

A quick post today!  Come back tomorrow and I’ll have something else to share.

Remember Lovely as a Tree

How long has it been since you stamped with Lovely as a Tree?

It is one of Stampin’ Up!s top selling stamp sets and I recently pulled it out to make this card.

Lovely-as-TreeI also pulled out a color that I hadn’t used recently – Always Artichoke.  It’s been a while.

This is a “window” card.  Well that’s what I call it – since I cut a “window” out of the card front with a framelit and my Big Shot and the stamped image is underneath it.  Stamp on the Whisper White piece and layer it on the inside of the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Before you add the white use the Paper Piercer, the Piercing mat and the template to match the framelit to add the piercing around the frame.

I stamped a simple sentiment and added some Linen Thread.  A quick and clean card.  I hope you like it.

When Skies are Gray

When Skies are Gray like today you need a little pick me and this little card might be just the right thing!

happy-sun

We have had pouring rain ALL day so it is a very gray day here at my house.  Everyone is home – no golf for Greg today.  I was sort of waiting to post this card on a rainy day and I guess this is it.  This card was part of my Sale-A-Bration class last month.  I have seen many people make the sunshine using the little Banner Punch – this is my version.  I went with a Summer Starfruit colored sun – I used the Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper for the center of the sun and then used the Banner punch to make the sun rays.  Here is a tip for how I added the rays to the circle – think of a compass and add one banner at North, East, South and West.  Then fill in between each of those with two banners.  That was the easiest way for me to get them somewhat evenly spaced around the circle.

sunshine

One of the many cards that I saw with this sunshine idea included clouds made from the Cupcake Punch!  What a great idea – I’ve actually used that before – remember the stamp set with the hot air balloons from last year – I added clouds to that one.  But sometimes you forget until someone triggers you.  My clouds are Smoky Slate on this card.

The stamp image is from the See Ya Later stamp set.  I used Stampin’ Write Markers to color the stamp, but also stamped the large Happy in the Summer Starfruit so it could be cut out and popped up.

You make me HAPPY when skies are gray.  What a nice thing to say!

Num Num! Cookies!

I made this fun card for Kyle the other day –

cookie-monster-card

I sent him a box of Girl Scout cookies and thought they needed a fun card to go along with them.  Cookie Monster was perfect.  This is what I used –

  • Circle Framelits, Word Bubble Framelits (from the Occasions catalog)
  • Big Shot Die Cut Machine, Magnetic Platform
  • Circle Punches (so I forgot exactly which sizes and I don’t have the card here to measure – I’m thinking the 1-3/4″ and the 1″ for the eyes, and 1-1/4″ for the cookie)
  • Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (from the Sale-A-Bration brochure)
  • Oh, Goodie! stamp set (carry-over from the Holiday catalog)

Inside there is a white circle and I stamped “Enjoy” also from the Oh, Goodie! stamp set.

Just a tip on making the card base – go ahead and cut a standard size card base and score it – fold the card and place it so the scalloped circle cuts near the edge of the cut side of the card and the folded side doesn’t get cut because it is inside the die.  I guess I should have taken a picture of that.  Hopefully it makes sense.

Enjoy!

Good as Gold

Did you notice the Good as Gold card kit in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure?  It’s on page 12 and includes everything you need to make 8 cards.  You don’t even need stamps and ink because the kit comes with pre-printed die cut tags.  Not only that but the tags come in THREE languages!  The greetings are in English, German and French (at least I think it is French – honestly I don’t know any French).  But I do know German – in fact my parents are both from Germany and almost all of my relatives still live in Germany.  In fact you might remember last May I took a trip to Germany with my parents.  So when I saw the greetings in this kit (which I did not at all notice in the brochure) I was super excited!  My mom’s birthday was in February and I made a card for her and used one of the German tags on it.  I’ll show it to you in a minute.

First I want to show you one of the cards made just like the kit was designed:

gold-card-kitIt’s a cute Polka Dot card.  Add the banner pieces to the front including a gold banner and the greeting.  I used the little punched out star too.  Bakers twine and Gold Elastic card are tied around the front of the card.  The envelope has a gold liner.

At my last team meeting Sue shared with us an alternate idea – she cut each of the Polka Dot card bases in half and used them as a layer on a regular sized card.  Then we added die-cut and embossed flowers and a button.  This is the one that I made for my mom.

gold-alternate-cardThe tag says “for you” in German.  So it was perfect for my mom!

In my Sale-A-Bration class last month I shared another idea on how to use this kit – you can use the cards to make a cute little bag perfect for some candy – like gold foil covered chocolate kisses perhaps.  I found this one on Pinterest.

gold-mini-bag

I used the Simply Scored board to add the score lines to create the sides and bottom of the box.  Punch a hole in the top to add the twine, cord and tags.  I used half pieces of the twine and cord that were included in the kit.  It’s a tiny little bag but super cute.  Hang tight – let me go find the measurements for scoring it so I can share those with you.

Ok – I’m back.  You want to start with the card piece 6-1/2″ x 5″ – which means you trim off 1/2″ on the side that is 7″ when the card is open and not folded.  Then line it up on the score board so the existing score line is at 3-1/2″ on the board.  Now add a score line at 1/2″, at 2-1/2″, and at 5-1/2″.  This creates the four sides of the box plus the piece to overlap for gluing.   Turn your card stock to score along the bottom edge at 1″.  Cut on the score lines up to that 1″ line to create the tabs for the bottom.  You’ll also have one extra little rectangle on the overlap piece that you can just cut off to get it out of the way.  Glue the bottom tabs to make the bottom of the bag.  Pinch the sides to make the top come together and tie it shut with the twine & cord.

I hope you like all of these ideas.  Sale-A-Bration ends at the end of March!  You can choose this Good as Gold kit as one of your free items when you order $50 in product.

Banner Blast Hi

I was looking for something a little bit different to do with the Banner Blast stamp set when I was preparing for my Sale-A-Bration class last week.  This is what I finally ended up with.

banner-blast-hi

What do you think?  I’m not quite sure where I got the color combination from – Island Indigo, Crushed Curry and Whisper White.  It has lots of texture on the different panels.  And you can use the banners and fit them into each other to create a rectangle shaped center panel.

Supplies used:

  • Island Indigo, Crushed Curry and Whisper White card stock
  • Banner Blast* stamp set and Banner punch*
  • Embossing Folders: Decorative Dots*, Arrows, Stripes, Chevron
  • Textured Boutique Embossing Machine
  • Island Indigo Baker’s Twine
  • Island Indigo and Crushed Curry Classic Ink
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
