Apr 22, 2010 | All in the Family, Baby, Cards, Summer Mini 2010 |
So it is way past Sunday but I just finished up my card for this challenge last night. You can find it HERE on Heather’s blog. She actually had a sketch and a color challenge and I just used the sketch – actually I pretty much made my card exactly like hers but used a different stamp set and changed the colors a bit. I needed a baby card for Ryan’s Spanish teacher. They are having a diaper shower for him at school tomorrow – the kids in each class are bringing a different size of diapers – they should be set for a long time – I hope they have room to store them all!
So this is my happy new baby card – a boy version in blue. The same thing in pink would be cute too. The small circles say “happy”, “new”, “baby” – I stamped it in Bashful Blue so it isn’t showing well in this picture – I should have used a darker color either the Chocolate or the Navy. The cute little border is made with the Curly Label punch and Heather has a video on her blog – just punch out and cut in half and glue them underneath the edge of the card stock.
My Stampin’ Up! Supplies are:
- Card stock: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Whisper White
- Ink: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue and a Blush Blossom marker
- Stamps: All in the Family, Family Phrases, Extreme Elements and Well Scripted (the Congratulations on the inside)
- Punches: Curly Label, 1-3/8″ Circle, 1-1/4″ Circle, 1″ Circle, 3/4″ Circle and Itty Bitty Circle from the new Punch Pack (coming out May 1)
- Accessories: Soft Subtles brads, Bashful Blue Striped Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Thanks for checking in today. I hope Ryan’s teacher likes the card and the diapers!

Apr 21, 2010 | Cards, Occasion Mini 2010 |
I have more sunshine to spread – this card is based on the card in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini catalog for the Something Sweet Stamp set. I made a few changes to my version and wanted to share it with you today.
The stamp set is Something Sweet – I happen to have it in the clear mount. I stamped the big circle on Whisper White card stock and then stamped the petals around the ring. I did two layers of petals – you could do more or just a single layer like the sample in the mini. First I punched out the center with the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch and then I cut out around the petals.
The card base is Old Olive – a 6×6 piece folded in half. The front has a 1-3/4″ hole punch in it. That is where the treat cup will go. The flower is just attached on the front around the treat cup. For this card I made a trap door so that the seeds could come out without tearing up the card.
The trap door is a 3/4″ circle punched out of the Chocolate Chip piece on the front cover. Just make sure the little circle ends up inside the big one.
When you attach the Chocolate Chip piece to the inside of the card don’t put any adhesive where the treat cup is so that you have a pocket to slide the door into and cover the little hole.
These are sunflower seeds that you plant and I printed the instructions from the package and attached those on the inside. I love how this card turned out – you can send it at any time – You are my sunshine – works any time – don’t you think?
Here is a full list of Stampin’ Up! Supplies:
Stamps: Something Sweet, Calendar Alphabet & Numbers
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun, Old Olive
Card stock: Old Olive: 6” x 6”, score 3”; Chocolate Chip: 6” x 3-1/2”, 2-1/2”x 2”; Whisper White 5-1/2” x 4-1/4”; Summer Sun: 2-1/2” x 3-1/4”; scraps
Accessories: Paper Piercer, Sweet Treat Cup, 1-3/4” Circle Punch, ¾” Circle Punch, Round Tab Punch, Scallop Border Punch, Linen Thread, Playground Designer Buttons, Mini Glue Dot, Stapler, seeds, printed planting instructions.
Have a bright and sunny day!

Apr 19, 2010 | Cards, Fifth Avenue Floral |
I found this card idea earlier last week – it is so simple but looks so nice! I used it for my class on Friday – as a quick and simple – Stampin’ 101 type of card. The idea is from Kristen Moore. I actually simplified my card a little bit more by just stamping the flowers – she actually embossed hers.
The shadowing on the flowers is created using a Versa Marker! It just makes the paper a shade darker where ever you add the marker – which is clear VersaMark ink. I used Rich Razzleberry ink and then added the ribbon on the top. The card base is Kraft card stock which will be called Crumb Cake in the new Color Collections. Or I could say this is Crumb Cake formerly known as Kraft!
I made mine into a Mother’s Day card so it fits the Late Night Stampers challenge for this week – which is to create something for Mother’s Day. This would also be pretty for weddings or a shower. I hope you like this quick and easy card.
And by the way Stampin’ Up! has this stamp set – Fifth Avenue Floral – and several others on sale this month. So if you have had your eye on it – be sure to get before the month is over. The other sets on sale are – Greenhouse Garden, Flower Fancy and Trendy Trees. All are 20% off.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Apr 18, 2010 | 2-Step Stampin', Big Shot, Cards, Create with Connie & Mary, In Colors, Wildlife |
I created another Awash with Flowers card using the exact same colors and pieces of card stock as my first one. This is the second version.
I used this one for my class on Friday – I actually let everyone choose between making this one or my original design that you can see here.
The “Wonderful Mother” from the Well Scripted stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini catalog was used so it could be a mother’s day card. Stamped on Whisper White and punch with the Scallop Oval punch. I added the little leaf petals at the bottom to dress it up a bit. Then layered it on a Wide Oval punched from Melon Mambo. The layer of Basic Black behind it is also the Wide Oval punch – either use two or cut one in half and add each half to the back of the other one so you can just see a hint of it.
I wanted to show you the cardinal eggs that I found on Friday – the mom finally left her nest late in the afternoon – that seems to be the norm for most of the moms from what I can tell.
She has two eggs but one is much smaller than the other. When I checked on Saturday – the smaller egg was gone and only one egg was in the nest. She seems to be gone today so maybe she decided her eggs weren’t viable this time or another predator came in and took the egg. I don’t really know. I’ll let you know if she lays another one.
As for the other nests – the other moms were all sitting this morning – I need to go back and count the days to see how long before we can expect babies to hatch.
Thanks for stopping by. Don’t forget to check out Create with Connie & Mary – I’m so excited to be a guest designer! It is sure to be fun with lots of great projects – a new one each day for 5 weeks – right now is an Early bird special for $19.95 – then the first week is a preview week for everyone and then the next four weeks will only be open to those that join – so do it now while we have the special. Each week we will feature an assortment of products from the Summer Mini Catalog – there will be at least two tutorials each week.

Apr 16, 2010 | Cards, class, Flight of the Butterfly, Pocket Silhouettes, Thank You |
Flight of the Butterfly meets Pocket Silhouettes (and lets hope I spelled that right). These two stamp sets came together nicely in this card that was based on one that my friend Cindy created for a swap at our Starz Meeting last month. Here is the link to my post on her original card. I would have never put these colors together but I really like them and when I was looking at samples that one always stands out for me so I decided to use it for my class today. I changed the butterfly to use the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set which is a 2-step stampin’ set and what I featured in my class.
Stampin’ Up! Supplies:
- Soft Suede card stock and ink
- Regal Rose card stock and ink
- Barely Banana card stock and ink (this one is retiring)
- Pocket Silhouettes stamp set
- Flight of the Butterfly stamp set
- Butterfly Punch
- Trio Flower Punch
- Soft Subtles brads
- Eyelet Border Punch
- Crimper
- Paper Piercer
I really liked how Cindy added the lace border at the bottom. Punch a strip with the Eyelet border and then run it through the crimper. I also add a white panel on the inside that was stamped to match the front.
I didn’t have this in the picture but I decide it would be cute on the inside to stamp one of the curving sayings from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set on the inside and then the little butterfly to the left so it looks like the butterfly trail. That was an after thought so I did it after I took the picture. You’ll just have to imagine it.
I’m going to go play with a few of my new stamps while it is quiet here. Greg is out playing golf, Ryan is off at a tennis match. Kyle and Tyler are here but entertaining themselves or each other so it is actually quiet.
Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

Apr 15, 2010 | Cards, class, Thank You, Wildlife |
Cheep Talk is the stamp set I used to make this card:
The base of the card is Taken with Teal and will be one of the colors that will retire at the end of June – it is one of the colors I’ll miss the most. I love to use the Teal with Old Olive. We will be making this card in my card class tomorrow. I also decorated the inside – take a peek:
I hope you like it.
The more eggs – are more bird eggs that I found this morning. The chickadee has 4 eggs in her nest – they must have been a little hidden where I couldn’t see them – I actually thought there were only two but when I put the camera in to take the picture (she was away) the picture shows 4 eggs! They normally lay 5 – 7 eggs so maybe there will be another one tomorrow.
I’m so excited to have so many nests/eggs again this year!
Thanks for stopping by!
