A few months back I signed up to walk in the It’s the Journey 2-Day Breast Cancer walk here in Georgia. The walk will be held in mid October in Atlanta. It’s a 2 day walk that is 30 miles long. I’ve been training to get my feet, legs and body ready to walk that far. Right now my longest walk has been 10.5 miles. Monday I’m planning to do an even longer walk. In addition to the actual walking I have to also raise some money. So last month I held a Pop of Pink class and $10 from every class fee I put in my walker fund. I was able to donate $150 to my fund and I’m now half way to my goal!
One of the projects from the class was this sweet little Box of Hugs. I thought it turned out so cute and would be a sweet gift for someone battling breast cancer or anything else. We filled each box with about 15 Hugs and on the bottom of each added a little circle of the Pop of Pink Designer Paper. Since the boxes are clear you can see the bottoms through the sides. Each box is wrapped with some Designer Paper and tied with Thick Baker’s Twine. On the top I added the die cut heart and the word hope. They are both from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits. You could use the same idea for a bridal shower and use the word Love instead of Hope. Or for a graduation and use Congrats. Lots of possibilities.
I hope you like this little project. If you wanted to donate to my walker fund you can visit my fundraising page here.
The other project was a set of cards in a little bag. Come back again to see that one.
Starting today August 2nd you can order the Thoughtful Branches bundle.
Here is a look at the full stamp set –
And the coordinating Beautiful Branches Thinlits Dies:
The pieces with an outline line up with one of the stamps in the stamp set. You can purchase the stamp set and dies individually or buy them as a bundle and save! If you have Bonus Days coupons from July you can use those to apply towards this new bundle making it an even better deal.
Item #144328 Thoughtful Branches Bundle $52
Item #143539 Thoughtful Branches Photopolymer Stamp set $27
Throughout the catalog you will find Bundle & Save boxes that have a stamp set and coordinating tool available to purchase at a discount. There are a whole bunch of them in the catalog. Be sure to look for the box that says Bundle & Save. It will save you 10% off when you purchase the coordinating items as a bundle instead of purchasing them separately.
Question 6 on my scavenger hunt – asked which one was your favorite? Are you kidding – I don’t think I can pick just one. Perhaps I should have asked which ONES are your favorites. I mean really what was I thinking.
One of my favorites is the Ready to Pop Bundle! It’s a really adorable little popcorn box that you make using the Popcorn Box Thinlits Dies and it has the coordinating Ready to Pop Stamp set. I used these to make little treats for my New Catalog Kickoff Party earlier this month.
I used the Dapper Denim In-Color and paired it with the Kraft card stock and burlap ribbon – I filled it with popcorn in our new cello bags. These are so cute and they are pretty small – not so big that you need a ton of candy or filler. So it makes a perfect size for party favors. The boxes are easy to assemble and the thinlits dies has a lot of other pieces for decorating the box.
Some of my other bundle favorites include – Best Birds, Foxy Friends, Jar of Love, and Sunshine Sayings! I can’t wait to get busy playing with more of these.
I’m so glad you joined me today. Let me know which bundles you love.
Father’s Day is coming up this weekend. Do you have a card made yet?
I have a few designs that I have created lately that I was going to share with you this week. The first one uses the new Swirly Bird stamp set. The name of the set doesn’t give you any idea that there is a sailboat – or rather the parts to create a sailboat.
I used the new Dapper Denim In-Color (its’ the one I’ve been using the most) along with Real Red, a little bit of Pool Party and Tip Top Taupe. I used the Circle Framelits to create the ring. The Swirly Scribbles Thinlits are the waves inside the ring.
I used the new Thick White Baker’s Twine. And the words are from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set. There is a lot of new on this card.
At the OnStage Live event in April I hosted a dinner and treat swap. We met at the Red Rock Brewery which seems to have become a tradition now. In the past we have done a card swap and then on top of that some people would bring little treats to give to friends too. So I thought why don’t we just swap little treat ideas so that was what we did and I think everyone really enjoyed it. Usually we go to Salt Lake City in July and the weather has always been really nice but this time we went in April – weather is not so nice. It poured down rain and was really windy when we were trying to get to the restaurant that night.
There were 20 of us and a ton of cute little treat ideas. I know I’ll be using them throughout the year for various things. A couple I’ve already used since I’ve been home. Today I wanted to share mine with you. I made a little Pooh box using the Pyramid Pals Thinlits. They were so cute! The thinlits are in the Occasions catalog and have a stamp set called Playful Pals. If you order this month (May) you can get them as a bundle and save 15%. They will be in the new catalog but not as a bundle anymore. Here are a couple of the in progress photos:
I worked on the like an assembly line – cutting all the various pieces and then working on one part at a time. All the small pieces I stored in empty embellishment containers until I was ready to add them to my box. I used Hello Honey card stock – I thought that was pretty perfect for Pooh Bear but it’s retiring! So if you don’t have Hello Honey you may want to grab some. The little bow ties are Real Red. Here is a look at the front.
On the back I made a little trap door – the handle is a tiny Pool Party Butterfly added with a brad. And darn it if they aren’t retiring those little brads – I bought extras because I use them a lot. Here is a look at the back.
Inside the treat is none other than a little mini bag of gummy bears! Yummy! I love the real gummy bears from Germany. We always had those as kids and I’m glad they now sell them in the US. My kids got to grow up with them too.
Wouldn’t it be cute to add a piglet and tigger box too. Those will have to be future creations.
“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.” – Winnie the Pooh
Remember to give someone a small little treat once in a while!
Did you see the Party Pop-Up Thinlits Dies in the Occasions Catalog? They are on page 7. You can use the dies to make a pop up card or trim the pop-up shape to use as a fun element on a card front, scrapbook page or other project. For this card I did both – the Hip Hip Hooray! pops up on the inside and the Happy Birthday element was added to the front.
I got this card idea from one I found on Pinterest – it’s the best source for ideas and inspiration. Another fun element is the black dots – those are actually the White Perfect Accents colored with a Black Sharpie Marker. It adds a fun touch to this birthday card.
Here is a peek at the inside.
There is one change I would make to this card – I’d add a Bermuda Bay card stock layer on the inside of the card so it would show behind the pop-up. With the white behind it it just doesn’t pop enough. But I already had mine all glued down before I thought of that. The next one I make will have that.
You can purchase the Party Pop-Up Thinlits Dies and the Party with Cake stamp set as a Bundle and save 15%. I’ve been using them a lot right now to make birthday cards. I’m starting a birthday club in March – if you would like to be part of it and receive a real hand-made card from me in the mail – then email me with your birthday and mailing address and I will add you to my list.
here is a video from my Stamper’s Club meeting where I show them how to use the thinlits and make this card. I didn’t do any editing on the video – I think it turned out ok. I’m working towards posting more videos and to start editing them too. It’s a start.
Thanks for stopping by today. I’ll try to be back soon.
