I made these cute little gifts for my friends at the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference. Decorated clothespins and a little paper treat bag. Cute and fun to make!

This is a great project that uses recycled paper – it’s the paper we get in our Stampin’ Up! Order boxes but you could use other brown paper. The paper is cut with the Petite Pocket Die and the Big Shot Die-cut Machine.

Here are some of the things I used to make this little treat –
- stamp set – Flowering Flourishes – stamped in Summer Starfruit on the brown paper after it was cut
- stamp set – Perfect Punches – stamped on Rich Razzleberry card stock
- punch out with Curly Label punch
- add a little Summer Starfruit flower punched with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack flower and a Silver Mini brad
- cover the clothes pin with Sycamore Street Designer Series paper
- add a button from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button pack that has some Whisper White Baker’s Twine tied through it
Inside these sweet little pockets was a piece of chocolate. I gave these to my friends as I found them at the Leadership conference. I hope they all liked the sweet little treat. The Sycamore Street items will be available for free during Sale-A-Bration starting Jan. 22nd.
If you would like to buy any of these products you can shop at my online store on my website – www.monika.stampinup.net
We heard lots of exciting things at the Leadership Conference about all kinds of fun things that Stampin’ Up! has planned for this year. I’ll be sharing those throughout the week – some are already on my Facebook page – Stamping Together at Monika’s Place – so be sure to go like my page and you can see some of them there.

Look at this cute thing we made at stamp club last week! I had a punch art Lion card from another Stampin’ Up! event – I think convention probably. It was a swap I received and had posted on my card tree that was up during my classes. Everyone always thought it was cute and Cari wanted to make it at stamp club. Finally I designed a card to go with the punch art lion.
A few new products from the Spring Mini are on here – including the Parker’s Patterns Designer Paper and the Honeycomb Embossing Folder. I’ll come back later and add in all the punches and dies.
Have a great day!

Jan 8, 2013 | Big Shot, Demonstrator, Fabric |

These were the gifts I gave my downline for Christmas. I think they all liked them. They are pouches for a pair of paper snips – and yes I included the paper snips too!
Stephanie helped with the sewing – she is much better than I but I think I did figure out one problem – and that is my sewing machine. I found the instruction book for mine and it is copyright 1978! Oh I think I might need a new sewing machine and then I might be better at it and enjoy it more. I was working on some swaps for the Leadership conference this weekend and got so frustrated with the machine I had to call my friend Cindy for help. She brought her machine over yesterday and I got done pretty quick. Next thing to purchase is going to be a new sewing machine.
Anyway back to these little things – I used Stampin’ Up! fabric – different patterns as you can see. For each pouch I cut two pieces of fabric and one thin piece of batting. I used the fabric adhesive to adhere the batting in between the two pieces of fabric. Then cut the whole thing with the petal cone die. Then we sewed them up.

To decorate them I cut flowers with the coordinating fabric and sewed that on with a button in the center. I also added shrinky dink monogram tags to the scissors but I didn’t get those in the picture.
I’m off to Florida today heading to the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference. I hope to have a few updates but they may be on my Facebook page instead of here on my blog – so check over there too.
Oh – one more thing – if you are interested in joining my team I just might have one more of these for the next person that signs up! And coming later this month is Sale-A-Bration with a new Recruiting special – a great deal on the starter kit for you! Contact me if you want to know more!
Have a great day!

Jan 3, 2013 | Big Shot, Cards, Create with Connie & Mary, Spring Catalog 2013, Valentine's Day, Vintage |
Today’s the day!
The first day of the NEW Spring Stampin’ Up! Catalog! And the beginning of Stampin’ Up!s 25 year silver anniversary!
Now it makes me think I should have made an anniversary card using silver – but we used silver last week – and I did not make an anniversary card. I did however use some brand new products from the Spring Catalog for my card this week. It is a sketch challenge week – I keep trying to decide if I like the sketches better or the colors – I think I prefer sketch challenges. In any case I do like that the Create with Connie & Mary challenges alternate. Here is this weeks sketch –

And I really do like to turn the sketches so I can be different – while it doesn’t always happen – it did this week – and this is the creation that I came up with –

In addition to turning it I decided to switch and have the three panels be the banner flags and the other piece be a rectangle. Which meant I was able to use the new stamp set Hearts a Flutter for my flag along with the matching framelit. Plus I wanted to give a more masculine feel to the Hearts A Flutter stamp set – so I thought this could pass as a masculine Valentine card – what do you think?
Here is a quick look at how I made this.
- card base is Basic Gray
- card layer of Crumb Cake embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder
- add the strip of First Edition Designer Series Paper
- Stamp three of the banner flags on Crumb Cake card stock using Basic Gray ink and cut them out with the framelit attach with dimensionals to the strip
- Wrap a piece of the Natural 7/16″ Trim Ribbon (I’m going to love this!) around the card layer overlapping the ends. Tie with a piece of Linen Thread.
- Stamp the outline heart and chevron heart on Crumb Cake card stock using Basic Gray ink and cut out with the matching framelit. Also cut a heart from Basic Gray card stock.
- Stamp “4 You” from Tiny Tags set on the outline heart.
- Punch holes with the 1/16″ punch in the three hearts, thread on a Vintage Trinket safety pin and pin to the Linen Thread.
- punch a heart from the Owl punch from Basic Gray card stock and glue on the heart
- Write a sweet note on the inside and give to your sweetheart!

I like how it turned out and I hope you do to. Visit the Create with Connie & Mary site to see the creations from the rest of the design team and to submit your own creation for this new challenge. Have a great week!

A card idea from Stampin’ Up!

Have a safe and happy New Year!

Dec 27, 2012 | Big Shot, Create with Connie & Mary |
For this week’s Create with Connie & Mary challenge we have a color challenge – Pool Party, Whisper White and Silver Glimmer. Good thing I ordered more Silver Glimmer paper – I used what I had to make snowflake ornaments for Christmas and ran out so I ordered more. And while this color challenge does scream snowflakes to me – that is not what I wanted to do. So I put my thinking cap on to come up with a different idea. And New Year’s Eve is what came to mind.

Plus I wanted to do something other than a card and came up with a treat holder idea instead. After some playing around this is what I created –

You could add these to your table decorations for a New Years Eve Celebration – decorate with silver and blue (pool party to be exact). Here is a view of the back – it’s the petal cone die –

- cut two of the Petal Cones out of Pool Party card stock and glue together to make the cone
- cut four of the scalloped half circles out of Silver Glimmer paper – I glued 3 of them to the petal folded back and one to the petal left straight – that becomes the bottom “lip” of the container
- stamp the New Years (single stamp) in Pool Party ink on Whisper White card stock – cut with the Apothecary Accents framelit label. Fold the tabs back and attach with mini brads to cover the top portion of the petal cone opening.

- I dressed up the stamp image by adding Dazzling Details to all the numbers and little circles plus a Vintage Faceted Button tied with some white Baker’s Twine.
- Stamp the Happy New Year on the Pool Party Banner from the Petal Cone Die and add it to the top corner.
- Stamp the Happy New Year a couple of times on scrap piece of Whisper White and punch out the numbers with a 3/4″ circle punch. Glue those to the bottom of some chocolate kisses.
- I also stamped the little sparkle from Delightful Decorations on Pool Party card stock and punched those out to add to the chocolate kisses.
- Stick all the chocolate kisses in the Petal Cone box.
- Time to Countdown to the New Year and Celebrate!!!
A fun little treat don’t you think? We aren’t really sure what we are doing on New Year’s Eve just yet – but I do have some festive table decorations ready to go. Visit the Create with Connie & Mary site to see the creations from the rest of the design team and to submit your own creation for this new challenge. Have a great week!
