Aug 23, 2010 | Big Shot, Bingo, class, In Colors, Punch Art |
Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I had a fun stamping class on Friday and a quiet Saturday morning (I was home alone – all the boys were gone). Sunday afternoon we went to Georgia Tech for the New Student Convocation – Kyle is an official Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket with his very own Rat Cap. I know the Rat Cap is an old tradition but some how during the years that I was there I don’t think they gave one to every freshman like they do now – I don’t think I every had one and Greg doesn’t remember having one either and neither of us remember going to the Convocation Ceremony. I’ll post a couple of pictures probably tomorrow.
On to a stamping project. I saw this cute little project at the airport while we waited to find out about our canceled flight. I didn’t actually get one of these but a demonstrator I met at the airport was nice enough to let me see hers and take pictures. It was the cutest idea and I don’t know who made it.
It is a mini post-it note holder. I made a few modifications from the original one that I saw but it is the same basic project.
The holder is cut from the Stampin’ Up! Two Tags die using the Big Shot Die-Cut machine. This is the tag that folds over. I also used the Big Shot to cut the letters for “notes” using the Billboard Alphabet Sizzlit Strip die.
The front is decorated using the new Owl Punch (can you tell I really like this punch) and also the Bird punch for the branch.
We made this in my class on Friday and in the morning class I told the girls that I didn’t like the little hole showing from the tag but I couldn’t decide what to do with it. Someone suggested that we cover it with another leaf punch and that is exactly what we did.
I decided to add the post it notes on the inside with a hole so they could go on the ring – I was afraid they would fall out otherwise. I know in my purse they would. The swap that I saw just had them attached on the inside but not going through the ring. I took a normal sized mini post-it note pad and split it into four pieces – so this is 1/4 of a pad. The Crop-A-Dile will punch through it and the card stock tag with no problem.
I added some of the Peach Parfait Ribbon to the book ring.
It’s a cute little project don’t you think?
Are you ready for Monika’s Blog Bingo! I heard yesterday that one person had all 4 pieces called so far but no Bingo yet.
I am continuing with Round 1 of Monika’s Blog Bingo. Round 2 is full and I’m taking names for Round 3 right now which is close to being full too. See this POST for more details.
Here is piece #5 – the cupcake image from the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set (stamped in Poppy Parade.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Jul 14, 2010 | Big Shot, class, Stampin' Up! Events, Summer Mini 2010 |
Last week I had my monthly hands-on class. It was my Ice Cream Party class and we had a blast! I took some pictures of all the girls working on their projects and told them I was going to post on my blog. So here they are:
Here is Jamie and her niece, Olivia, working on their ice cream kits. Jamie brought Olivia to two classes while she was visiting during her summer break.
And here is Sue working hard on her kit. I think they were all mad at me because they had to cut out so many ice cream cones and ice cream scoops for the projects. I just keep telling them it is so much cuter when they are cut out!
And there is Travice working at the Big Shot Station. She has that at the top of her wish list and is saving her money to get it in the near future. It is a must have these days for me – I think I use it for every class that I do. Travice has invited me to do a class for her woman’s group and I’m so excited. We set our date for this fall.
Here is the other half of the group – Lisa, Lana and Jeannette were in the other room working on some ice cream cards. The whole class was based on the Sweet Scoops stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini catalog. I love all the things you can do with this set. I showed them the kissing techniques – there is more than one way to kiss you know… And we did Rock ‘n Roll and the Baby Wipe technique. All that with one stamp set in one class!
I hope everyone had as much fun as I did – they were all smiles so I’m pretty sure they had a great time.
So here is my convention prep work update:
Shoebox swap – 49 cards – ummmm nothing done on this one yet, I have an idea floating in my head though
UDI card swap – 19 cards – designed, cut and needs to be assembled
UDI 3-D swap – I only have to make 1! And I know what it is just need to decide if I want to give away my sample or make a new one.
General swap 1 – 25 card fronts – designed, cut and half are assembled
General swap 2 – 25 card fronts – designed, cut, and all are assembled
General swap 3 – 25 card fronts – I have an idea in mind, I just need to work on it
General swap 4 – 25 card fronts – hoping to get to this one
Friend gifts – planning to make some amount of something to give to friends I see
Roommate gifts – 3 – designed
So that is where things stand and I better keep working to get it all done.
Thanks for stopping by to visit my blog and if you are going to be at the Stampin’ Up! Convention come find me and swap with me!
And let me say a quick “Happy Birthday” to my son Ryan who is 14 today on the 14th of July! He is the first one to reach the age of his birth date – see he does get to be first at something. My other boys were born on the 21st and 29th so it will still be a while before they get to accomplish that.

Jun 28, 2010 | Birthday, Cards, class, Summer Mini 2010 |
So I made this cute card for Kimberly’s workshop that I had earlier this month.
I used the sweet new Sweet Scoops set from the Summer Mini catalog and made my favorite Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. And I planned to write where I got the inspiration from this card from but I have been away on vacation for a week and for the life of me I can’t remember where I got this from. I’m pretty sure it was a sketch from somewhere and I think I changed a few things on it – but I just can’t remember at all right now. I may think of it later. Anyway I really liked how this turned out. And I plan to use it for one of my cards for my July Hands-on Class. This time I’m going to do a themed class – an ICE CREAM PARTY! I think it will be lots of fun. I am having the class a week earlier than normal on Friday, July 9th instead of the following week – that week I will be at Ga. Tech with Kyle for his orientation. I’ll be sending out more details to my email list later and post them on my blog and website too.
I was actually gone for a whole week for vacation. We were in Boone, NC for the week in a house on a mountain. We had a lot of fun with our family but also had some issues. First let me just say that we have been renting places for many years and more recently I have been finding places through VRBO – and all have been great. But this time I would not recommend renting from this company/resort or whatever you want to call it. I will tell you more about it later this week. We had a nice week together with family and with the help of wireless internet at the Panera store in town I was able to get all my blog posts done for the week and check a few emails. The rest of the time we had no internet access so I didn’t get some things done like I had planned. I caught up on a few things on Sunday and will do some more this week. I share pictures and more about our trip during the week.
Have a great day!

May 25, 2010 | class, Easter, Simply Adorned Jewelry, Valentine's Day |
I have more inserts to show you from my Simply Adorned class. I tried to do one set per month for my class and the ones I showed in my earlier post – click here to see it – were Jan. (snowman), May (butterfly), Aug (monogram) and then the clear one. So here are a few more –
Here is February – like that wasn’t obvious. I used the Sending Love Specialty paper. Some punched hearts, a bit of ribbon and a Rhinestone brad removed from the brad setting so I could use just the rhinestone.
And here is March – I wasn’t sure what to do with that but I found the little Shamrock in the Holiday Blitz stamp set. This would actually be a great set to do a whole bunch of inserts for all the holidays. The other image is from the Charming stamp set. Then some circles, faux stitching and linen thread. Nothing terribly exciting but it will work for that little bit of green that you need for St. Patricks Day.
And here was the one for April. The Picnic Parade set from the last Stampin’ Up! mini catalog had perfect little images to tuse for these charms. The are all water colored with classic ink.
I made an extra long jewelry tag to hold the Happy Easter – if you have never done this – here is how – I’ll try to explain. Cut a strip of card stock the same width as the little jewelry tag punch. Then from the bottom of the punch insert the strip so that it punches only the end with the little tab on it – the other end stays out of the punch to keep it longer.
So that was a few more. That is now about half of what we made in the class. So there will be more later.
My next Simply Adorned class is on June 6th.
Thanks for checking in today!
