It’s Happy Hour Time

Well somewhere it’s Happy Hour time – not exactly where I am right this minute while I’m writing.  It’s not even 10 am here yet.  But in any case I’m going to share with you this cute card using the Happy Hour stamp set.

I wanted to use the new In-color Tangelo Twist on this card – that way I could make oranges.  I wasn’t sure what color I wanted to use with it so I pulled out my Color Coach (you can buy the cards for the new in-colors) and one of the color combo suggestions included Island Indigo.  Which now makes me remember the Halo Clementine orange commercials – not sure they have those every where – but where I live they have the commercials on TV and the only colors they use are the orange and blue (and white).

I wanted a piece of the designer paper to use on the card but I didn’t have any current papers that had Island Indigo.  So I ended up using the Sweet Taffy paper that has Tempting Turquoise in it.  The one printed seemed to work just perfectly with my Island Indigo card stock.

Oh – I have a trick for the little orange slice – a perfect way to cut it out that is super easy!  Stamp the little orange on Whisper White card stock – punch it out with the 1/2″ circle punch – then cut it in half – a perfect orange slice just for adding to the edge of the glass.

Enjoy a nice drink for Happy Hour today!

So Happy Owl Card

I have a monthly card class for some of the ladies that work at Kennesaw State University.  The school mascot is an owl so its fun to have owl themed cards as part of their class.  In the new Stampin’ Up! catalog is a set called So Very Happy and it has a cute little owl in it.  This month we made a card with that set –

So-happy-owl

The idea for this card came from I swap I received from my friend Connie Babbert.  I made a few changes – different colors, Designer paper, ribbon and punch topper.   The designer paper that I used is the Lullaby paper – which is a “baby” paper but doesn’t have any baby images so you can use it for other things.  One side is the “blue” side and the other is the “pink” side of the designer paper.  I have another card to share later that is a baby card and with this paper I could easily use the same card design and make it either boy or girl by flipping the paper over.  For this card I used the “blue” side – so the colors include Coastal Cabana, Hello Honey, Pistachio Pudding and the Baked Brown Sugar.

One of my favorite parts is the thick baker’s twine – I used three colors of twine and pulled them trough the top of the two tags.  Then tied the little knots in the end to keep them from fraying.

Enjoy your day!

Happy 4th of July

I actually have a red, white and blue card to share today on the 4th of July!

work-of-art-rwb

This one uses the magical Work of Art stamp set.  Why is it magical you ask?  Well it is just really versatile – you can do so much with all the elements in this set and create so many different looks.  This one is a patriotic card – a perfect thank you to send to a soldier.  I wish I had it with me on the plane (actually I wish I had a stack of them).  There were soldiers on our flight and I noticed the flight crew put together a little goody bag for each one and gave them out to them shortly before we landed.  If I had these with me I could have given those to them too.

I used the same star punch as the card yesterday.  I’m so glad we have a star punch and was very excited about the star framelits too!  I swear I put them on my first order but no – they weren’t there.  Then I was sure I had them on my second order from the new catalog – but again – no stars.  So I’m pretty sure I managed to get them on my third order that I placed the other day.  Not sure how they kept getting left off.

Here are all the products I used.

Something to Say

Well yesterday I tried posting with the WordPress App from my phone – it looked like it worked.  I just need to figure out if I can access my media library so I can add things from it like my signature at the end of my post.  Any way – its good to know that it does work.  But today I’m back on my laptop.  I took photos of a bunch of projects from the last couple of weeks and spent the morning doing all my edits so now I have lots to share over the next while.  Here we go….

With this new stamp set you will be ready to make cards for just about anything.  It’ s the new Something to Say stamp set and it has 14 sayings all in one set, plus 3 images and a coordinating punch pack.  Here is one card that I made with this set –

something-to-say

I made this probably back in May when Graduation was at the top of my mind – and thought this was perfect for graduation – Congratulations!  – “now go change the world!” – exactly what I wanted to say to some of the recent high school or college graduates.

And I think almost everything in this set would fit perfectly in the banner framelits like I used on my card.  You can make it too – stamp it, cut it, and embellish it – done!

Thank you!

Thanks everyone!  While I did not have enough to earn the Getaway incentive trip – just a bit short of that… I did have success with pre-paid Paper Pumpkin subscription and have a new member of my Stampin’ Up! Team!

Plus another surprise this morning – some time ago I entered a Paper Pumpkin creation contest where we used the stamps to create new projects – well today in the Stampin’ Up! announcements I’m listed as a winner of a $50 SU shopping spree! That’s always a good thing to wake up to!

Thank you again for supporting me and let’s try again to earn the next incentive trip – I wonder where it will be…..

I need to get my latest projects all photographed so that I can share them with you.  In the meantime here are a couple of product updates for you.
