Father’s Day is coming up this weekend. Do you have a card made yet?
I have a few designs that I have created lately that I was going to share with you this week. The first one uses the new Swirly Bird stamp set. The name of the set doesn’t give you any idea that there is a sailboat – or rather the parts to create a sailboat.
I used the new Dapper Denim In-Color (its’ the one I’ve been using the most) along with Real Red, a little bit of Pool Party and Tip Top Taupe. I used the Circle Framelits to create the ring. The Swirly Scribbles Thinlits are the waves inside the ring.
I used the new Thick White Baker’s Twine. And the words are from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set. There is a lot of new on this card.
At my Catalog Kickoff Party last weekend I had a Scavenger Hunt for everyone to complete.
I thought we could play here on my blog too. I’m going to list all the questions and you can reply with an email with all the answers. At the end of the week I’ll do a drawing from everyone that plays along and send you a prize in the mail.
Take a little time getting to know your new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. Complete for an entry in the prize drawing. Send me an email with your name and your answers – click here. I’ll add all names into a drawing and select a winner at the end of the week.

When you earn Stampin’ Rewards from hosting a party, you can use them to buy any catalog product, OR you can use them for the exclusive host-only items in the catalog. They are on pages 198-201.
My favorite one was Love You Lots. It has some adorable animals in it – an elephant, a little mouse (it reminds me of the mouse in Goodnight Moon), a frog, hedgehogs, and lady bugs! It’s a set that is perfect for watecoloring with your Aqua Painters. That is what I did here with this sample.
I used watercolor paper for both the back ground and the focal point. And water colored the dots and the elephant with Smoky Slate ink. I used my brand new Layering Squares framelits to cut the plain square and the scalloped square. The tiny hearts are from the Confetti Hearts Border punch.
Finally!! I know it has taken me a while to get to this post. But finally it is here!
I first created this Sheltering Tree Seasonal Calendar a long time ago for 2015. At the time I created a full tutorial with lots of photos, measurements and instructions. Then my computer crashed – well not my computer actually but our external hard drive where we back everything up!! Yikes! Most of what I lost from the beginning of 2015 including that tutorial and the photos. Our last back up was from December. In April this year I decided to use this project for one of my display projects for the OnStage Live event. Since my focus was on the 2015-2017 In Colors I recreated it with those. I am receiving many requests for the tutorial but at this time decided not to recreate it. I am however writing this post and sharing enough information including a pdf with a 2016 calendar so you can create your own calendar.
Here are the new panels I created for the display in April. I used Mint Macaroon, Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush and Delightful Dijon as the main colors.
Here is a look at the older one – the colors here were Pool Party, Strawberry Slush, Wild Wasabi, and Hello Honey.
So the way this calendar works is that your base is a 12″ x 6″ piece of card stock – scored at 6″. Each of the 4 panels is attached to one of the 6×6 sections – two on one side and two on the other – you want the top of each panel to be at the scored end. Attach with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The colored card stock of each panel is 5-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ and then there is a white piece that is stamped with the trees – those are 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 – with part of the white piece covered by the calendar strip.
I printed the calendar strip on my printer at home on Whisper White card stock and then cut them down into strips. I use My Digital Studio to create the calendars. So if you still have that you should be able to generate a calendar in the size that you want it. Here is a pdf for the 2016 calendar. calendar 2016
The last thing you want is to add a stand – so that it will stand up on your desk. I just used a piece of card stock that matched my background piece and scored it so that i can slide it under the panels. My piece was 4-1/4″ x 2-3/4″ and scored at 1″ from each end. But the exact size doesn’t really matter – you just want something to slide in and keep your “tent” from slipping.
Here is a view standing –
One more look at the new panels –
Thanks for stopping by – I hope that is helpful to you.
