Mr. Turtle

Here is the project that I worked on last night:

Mr. Turtle

Mr. Turtle

Aren’t the little punch turtles the cutest thing?
Many of you know how much I love my punches and I love to do punch art like this.  I found a demonstrator in Canada, Heather Summers, that apparently is like me and loves to do this to – so much so that she created an online class of punch projects and the little turtle was the first one.  As soon as I saw this little turtle yesterday I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.  Her turtle was on a card but mine needed to be on a scrapbook page.  Remember me telling you about how much I love to have animals in my backyard…well last summer we had a turtle that lived in the backyard for awhile – he spent much of his time under my hostas – and when he would come out the dogs would find him.  I think initially they expected it to run away like the chipmunks and squirrels do – but he just walked right along.  So one day I got out my camera to take pictures (actually I took pictures on more than one day) and these are some of them.  So this scrapbook page is for us to remember Mr. Turtle who eventually moved on out of our yard and out into the big world beyond our fence.
Colors are: Chocolate Chip, Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White
I also used the Big Shot to create the title and the leaf accents.
I hope you like it!
Have a great day!
And yes we did have school today –  while other parts of Georgia all around us seemed to have some snow stick to the ground – we did not.  And the wind blew so strong that it dried up most of the moisture from the rain so there really wasn’t much ice here either.  So if you had a snow day today – enjoy it!  My boys were very disappointed – maybe next time.

New Stampin’ Up! Products Available March 1st

Stampin’ Up! has several new products available beginning today, March 1st.

First is the Stampin’ Up! exclusive Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die.  It is shown on page 202 in the Spring-Summer 2009 Idea Book.  It is designed to coordinate with our Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and creates an elegant, embossed card front image.  This would make beautiful Wedding invitations or thank yous.  This was demonstrated at the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference in Orlando in January and a few demonstrators won this as a prize!  This is going to be a popular item – I think everyone in the room wanted one.  It is item # 114517 for $7.95.

Our snow has turned to mostly rain now so no pictures to share.  Many places around us have snow on the ground just not here at our house.  The temperature is getting close to freezing though so we will likely end up with lots of ice by morning since it has been raining here since Friday morning.  By the way the soccer tournament that Ryan was supposed to play in this weekend – thankfully was cancelled!  They said it was the first time in the 19 year history of this tournament that they had to cancel.  It would have been miserable for the kids to play this weekend.

Stay warm and dry!

I love the Butterflies!

I finished up the February Ribbon Share and they are ready to be picked up.  If you requested it be mailed to you I will be taking those to the post office tomorrow.  I was so pleased with the little bag that I made to put the ribbon in –

Isn’t it the cutest thing!  I just love using the Beautiful Butterflies die.  First I die-cut the Chocolate Chip card stock with the Top Note die using my Big Shot.  The stamp is from the Yummy set in the Sale-A-Bration brochure which I stamped in VersaMark ink and embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I trimmed a small white bag to 3″ and used sticky strip to attach in between the two top notes.  I used the small oval to punch a hole through all the layers to create a handle.  Then I used the Beautiful Butterflies die and the Delicate Dots Designer Series Paper to cut out a Butterfly with my Big Shot.  I sponged More Mustard ink on the edge of my butterfly and used some Linen Thread to add the body.  I put that on with dimensionals.  The bag is tied shut with a piece of the So Saffron ribbon from the Sale-A-Bration ribbon bundle.  I was very pleased with the result – I hope you like it.
