Big Top Birthday CD case treat holder

Well it is Monday – and all my boys are back to school.  Ryan actually went back last week – that’s the high school.  Kyle and Tyler went back to college on Friday and their classes start today.  So I’m in the house alone today.  I have lots of work to do to get ready to go to leadership so I’m trying to work on that this week.  Next Tuesday I’ll be going – my friend Diane is traveling with me and we will be rooming with Michelle and Becky and our friends Fran and Linda have a room in our hotel too.  We will be in San Antonio, TX for the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference.  I’m very excited – it will be my very first Manager’s Reception.  That reminds me I need to take pictures of the invitation and post that for you to see – very unique!

But for today I have a fun cheery project – we made this Friday night at my Stamp Club.  I have been wanting to make this project for the last year – it was an idea that I got in a swap last year at the leadership conference.  So I have held on to it waiting for the right time to use it and it happened to be at this months’ stamp club meeting.  Here it is –

Doesn’t it look like a bright happy project?  This would be fun as a treat at a birthday party or come up with other ideas – you just need something flat that will fit inside the CD case as the treat.  I used Twizzlers for this project – we cut the long ropes in half to put them in the case.  The inside of the case is lined with a piece of the Big Top Birthday Designer Series paper.  Then the outside is wrapped with a belly band made from a piece of Tempting Turquoise card stock and another strip of the Big Top Birthday Paper.  Then tie a piece of ribbon around it.  To finish the front I added a scallop circle (cut with the Big Shot) and a punched circle and some balloons.

the stamp set is called Up, Up & Away.  A fun hot air balloon set.  I saw a tip on another demonstrators blog for an easy way to cut out the balloons since we don’t have a balloon punch.  Stamp the balloon and then use the 1-3/8″ circle punch to punch it out – line up the top and bottom of the balloon.  Then you have a circle and just trim the two sides to get the balloon shape.  It’s a little bit faster than cutting out the whole thing and gives a nice curve across the top.

Tie two little bows with White Baker’s Twine – and then roll up a mini glue dot to attach them to the base of each balloon.  Attach the balloons with dimensionals to the circle.

I hope you like this fun cheery project.  I wish I knew who to thank for the idea but my swap from last year doesn’t have a name on it.  She used different paper and a different stamp set to decorate hers – what I used is in our current Idea Book & Catalog.  If you would like to order these products contact me directly or visit my online store at my website –

Take it to Heart

Here it is – a card with new Stampin’ Up! products from the Occasions Mini Catalog – plus a sneak peek from Sale-A-Bration too!

This new stamp set is called Take It to Heart and it coordinates with the brand new Hearts Collection Framelits.  What are Framelits you might ask?  I’m so excited about these Framelit Dies for the Big Shot.  They are thin, wafer-like dies that let you see where you’re placing the design before you cut!  You can layer the dies inside each other to cut frames, or cut single hearts for layering.  I used two sizes here – one for the stamped image and one for the Lucky Limeade layer – there are 6 total sizes.

The image is watercolored.  The ribbon is part of a ribbon-brad pack that you can earn for free during Sale-A-Bration which starts later this month.

Happy Birthday Wishes sentiment is from the Petite Pairs stamp set in the big Idea Book & Catalog.  I added some of the pearls for accents – in the bird eye, the letter ‘i’ in birthday and around the edge of the heart.  The base of the card is Crumb Cake.  Enjoy!

Treat Yourself

Treat yourself to some brand new Stampin’ Up! products – that’s what you should do! The new Occasions Mini Catalog started – lots more great stuff and the cutest hostess stamp set.  I need to place an order to get it though – we couldn’t pre-order that one.  I do have my preorders and  I’m starting to play but what I’m working on right now I can’t share because it’s for Leadership.  So here is a card for you today that has nothing new on it – bad, I know.  But it was all I had ready to put on my blog.  I do have a card with new product made but not photographed so I’ll do that and share it with you tomorrow.  Until then enjoy this card –

It’s Very Vanilla Textured Card stock – 6×3 – and fits in the long open-ended envelope.  The stamp set is Creative Elements and I used Early Espresso ink for stamping.  There is a piece of Very Vanilla Velvet Ribbon at each end.  I wish I had used this ribbon more – it is actually very nice for putting flat on a card or scrapbook page.  The center is a piece of Bashful Blue Designer paper (it is an old print but you can use one of the current ones – the vintage wallpaper would be pretty).  The butterfly is stamped and cut out.  The quote is stamped on a rectangle which was then inked on the edges.  “Treat yourself like you own best company.”  We really should you know.

Have a nice day – it is cold here!  I’m ready for spring – I don’t like to be cold.  We spent last week in Florida and it was in the mid 70s – we were at the beach right after Christmas, watching the sunset on New Years Eve sitting by the pool and when we got back home it was cold.

Owl Be Yours

Quick, Quick don’t miss out on this stamp set – Gift Givers.  It is in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday mini catalog and today is the last day to order from it.  This turned out to be my favorite stamp set from the mini catalog.  And here is one more card for you – a Valentine’s Day card…..

This card idea was from the Birmingham Regional that I got to attend in the fall.  And it is a fun Shaker Card!  this one has hearts in the shaker –

These are the tiny hearts from the two step owl punch.  To create the shaker frame I used the foam circles in the Holiday Mini – good news they are on the carry-over list and will still be available!  I know they are circles and my shape was a heart but I just snipped, bent and pieced circles into a heart shape.  Here is the inside –

Yes it is time to think about Valentine’s Day now that New Years has passed.  So this was the first idea and I’ll have more for you – some great new products in the Occasions Mini Catalog that are perfect for Valentine’s Day – that starts tomorrow.

I better tell you what else from the Holiday Mini will still be available –

Glimmer Paper in Red and Silver

Holiday Stocking Die

Peek-a-boo Frames Die

Stocking Accents Die

1×8 cello bags (yeah!)

Spice Cake Designer Fabric

1″ Square Punch

Dazzling Details

Love Blossoms Wheel

Snowburst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

And a few things are in the next mini catalog so you’ll still be able to get those too –

Simply Scored tool, markers and stylus

Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps – Holidays

Kraft Gift Box

The stocking builder punch is NOT coming back so if you want it, and didn’t get it, you better do it tonight.

That’s it for now!

Happy New Year card

I made this cute Happy New Year card that I wanted to share with you.  These photos are not the best because I don’t have my originals with me and I had to basically do screen prints of a ghost image in my editing software – not ideal but you’ll get the idea.  This is a My Digital Studio Hybrid card – so part of the card was created in My Digital Studio and printed on my home printer and then I added traditional elements to it to finish the card.  Here is the finished card –

The card base is Crumb Cake card stock and then there is a layer that was created in My Digital Studio and printed on Very Vanilla card stock – I printed four per page and printed them on my home printer and then cut them out.  The My Digital Studio portion looks like this all by itself –

(the actual print doesn’t have my watermark  on it).

To finish the card I punched a strip of Early Espresso card stock with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon punch (I think that is the name – I used to be so good with the punch names until we switched to the new body style and now I just can’t see to remember the correct names anymore).  This was attached to the bottom of the MDS panel.  I also stamped “Happy New Year” in Early Espresso on the card in the gap between the stitching.  The stamp is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  If you don’t have that stamp set it is really a must have set – I use it more than any other greeting set that I have – and I didn’t think I would when I first saw it.

At first I stopped there with this card but I just didn’t like it.  After looking at it for a few days I finally decided to add a punched snowman to it.  And that did the trick – it was exactly what it needed.  My snow man is Very Vanilla with Early Espresso parts.

He is small the 1-1/4″ and 1″ circle punch for the body and 3/4″ circle punch for the head.  These are sponged with Crumb Cake ink to add some depth with shadows.  The snowflake punch was trimmed to create arms.  The hat is the end of the Modern Label punch and a half strip of the Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch.  The eyes are from the Owl punch and the nose is a tip of one of the flowers on the Boho Blossom punch.  Use a Stampin’ Write marker to add buttons and a smile.  And a white gel pen to add highlights to the eyes.  I tied a knot with the Marina Mist ribbon and added that with a glue dot to the snowman.

One final touch was a Rhinestone brad on the 2 in the 2012.  I hope you like it.  Happy New Year to you!

Be safe everyone!
