Embossing Paste Butterfly

Have you tried the new Embossing Paste from Stampin’ Up!?

It is my favorite new accessory product in the catalog.  So easy and fun to use.  I posted earlier a card where I colored the paste.  This one today just uses it as is – white.

The brick mask is a fun one too – it’s perfect for backgrounds.  I used just a small amount of paste through the mask to create the brick back ground that is just partially filled in and not a solid wall, like a crumbling wall in an old garden.

The butterfly is just fluttering by.  It’s the Watercolor Wings stamp set.  Two-step stamping – but really this butterfly is a three-step on the wings.  The base layer – the most solid layer is in Soft Sky ink.  The second layer – the other edges – is Pool Party ink.  The third layer – the details – is Bermuda Bay ink.  Then a fourth one is the body in Soft Suede ink.  The Bold Butterfly Framelits cut out this butterfly for you so you don’t have to fussy cut.

TIP!!! Here is a tip for you – stamp the wings – all three layers and then cut it out.  Stamp the body after you cut it so you get it in the right spot.  The stamps are photopolymer so you can see through.  I find it best if you can stand while stamping and look directly over the top of it.

Thailand was amazing

The Stampin’ Up! Incentive trip to Thailand was amazing.  They spoiled us like you wouldn’t believe!  Every little thing was taken care of while we were there.  On our door was a personalized sign for each of the achievers.

Since we had basically the whole resort it was fun to read the name on each door as you walked around.  The resort was absolutely beautiful with the most amazing swimming pool I’ve ever seen.  It was really 4 different free form pools connected my a waterway – like a lazy river but there wasn’t really a current.  So you could float or walk through the water from one section to another.  At one end were the sports stuff including a beach and sand inside the pool.  Our room overlooked this end of the pool.  Most of the kids seemed to be hanging out at this end.  There was a swim up bar, a couple of waterfalls and Jacuzzi areas along the way.  Some of the rooms were right on the water and so were some of the restaurants.

It’s taken me a while to catch up to the correct time zone – the first few days I was home it was hard to stay awake during the whole day – I think I’m almost adjusted back to that now.  And then my body is hungry at the wrong time of day!  I’m still working on that.

I’ll share more little bits about the trip over the next week or two.  But I also want to share a stamping projects with you.  So I’ll be scattering those in between my Thailand posts.  Some days I’ll even have two posts!

Thanks so much for supporting me in my Stampin’ Up! Business which allowed me to earn this amazing trip!  There were just over 400 demonstrators world wide that earned the trip.  Not everyone went on the trip – just over 300 were in attendance with a spouse, friend, or family member(s) and a few came alone.  In total there were over 700 of us at the resort for the week!

Thank you for visiting!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to my youngest son Ryan today!  He is 21.  Oh my – the baby is 21.  While we aren’t with him to celebrate we will do that once we get back together in August for a family vacation.  I did make a card for him that I sent to his girlfriend early so she could give it to him.  He will go visit her for his birthday.

I love this card!  And it is so easy and fun to make.  I used the brand new Embossing Paste to create the background.  So if you could touch the card you can feel and see the texture from the embossing paste.  To make this background I used the diamond patterned mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Mask set.  I colored my embossing paste (which is white) with the Lemon Lime Twist Reinker.  I put just a little bit of paste in an empty embellishment container and added a drop of reinker and used one of the palette knives to mix it up.

Put the card base on the table, place the mask over the top and secure with some old washi tape.  Then use the Palette Knife to spread the colored paste onto the card base.  I did a very thin layer and then put the lid on my container so I could make some more cards with what I had mixed.

You do need to clean the mask and the palette knifes right away – or drop them into a container of water until you can clean them.  The paste dries very quickly so make sure you keep the lid on your jar.

I used the Milestone Moments stamp set – it’s a perfect set for making all kinds of birthday cards.  I also needed one for a 70th birthday but that wasn’t one of the stamp in the set.  But don’t worry – if you are careful you can create what you need – I inked up the SEVENT – part of the Seventy-fifth stamp and then the IETH part of one of the other stamps (there are several) and made one that said SEVENTIETH.

I also used a little bit of paste that I had left for the envelope.  And I added the card to a bottle of wine that was wrapped up in 6″ x 17″ Gusseted Cellophane Bag and tied with Lemon Lime Twist Ribbon.

Thailand Swap card

At pretty much every Stampin’ Up! event there is some swapping going on.  What does that mean?  Well each person swapping will design a card (or whatever is being swapped), then make a specific number of them, turn them in to a coordinator, who then divides them up among those participating so that you get back one of everyone else’s card.  The Thailand Incentive Trip also includes a swap.  Now I haven’t been on one of these big Incentive Trips before so this is my first one and I wasn’t sure what to do for a swap.

I decided I wanted to tie it in to our trip a little bit and in looking at the resort and the rooms that we are getting the color of the decor is purple – so that’s what I wanted to use.  And then there is gold.  I wanted different shades of purple for my swap.

I used the Pattern Party Decorative Masks – the big medallion mask is what I used.  On a placed it over a piece of Whisper White card stock and then used Sponge Daubers and ink to add different shades of color.  Starting from the center I used Fresh Fig, Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum.

I heat embossed with gold the sentiment Just a Note which is from the Soft Sayings card kit stamp set.  I die cut that with the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  I also cut a Gold Foil Banner and then glued those together.  I layered on a piece of Fresh Fig card stock and added some Fresh Fig 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon.  And a Gold Faceted Gem to the center of the medallion. It was all put on a Thick Whisper White card stock base.

I hope everyone likes my card – I made 26 for the swap – that was a lot of sponging!

Don’t forget about my Thailand ordering special – it will be an add on to the Bonus Days Coupons you can earn in July.

Lemonade anyone?

One of our new suites in the catalog is the Coffee Break Suite.  It’s popular among coffee drinkers – which I am not.  But I did get this set as I know everyone is going to love it.  But it’s not limited to coffee drinks.  How about a glass of Lemonade?

lemonade-team-swap

I stamped the cut portion on watercolor paper and watercolored in with Daffodil Delight ink to make Lemonade.  The set has ice cubes – there is also a straw which I should have added to but I already had the card together by the time I thought of that.

The embossed background is the new Polka Dot Basics Embossing Folder.  I also used some new ribbon – Bermuda Bay 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon.

I made these as a swap card for my June Team Meeting.  Did you know we have an amazing opportunity this month?  You can join my team by purchasing the $99 Stampin’ Up! Starter Kit.  And do you know what all you get?
