Happy Birthday to my youngest son Ryan today! He is 21. Oh my – the baby is 21. While we aren’t with him to celebrate we will do that once we get back together in August for a family vacation. I did make a card for him that I sent to his girlfriend early so she could give it to him. He will go visit her for his birthday.
I love this card! And it is so easy and fun to make. I used the brand new Embossing Paste to create the background. So if you could touch the card you can feel and see the texture from the embossing paste. To make this background I used the diamond patterned mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Mask set. I colored my embossing paste (which is white) with the Lemon Lime Twist Reinker. I put just a little bit of paste in an empty embellishment container and added a drop of reinker and used one of the palette knives to mix it up.
Put the card base on the table, place the mask over the top and secure with some old washi tape. Then use the Palette Knife to spread the colored paste onto the card base. I did a very thin layer and then put the lid on my container so I could make some more cards with what I had mixed.
You do need to clean the mask and the palette knifes right away – or drop them into a container of water until you can clean them. The paste dries very quickly so make sure you keep the lid on your jar.
I used the Milestone Moments stamp set – it’s a perfect set for making all kinds of birthday cards. I also needed one for a 70th birthday but that wasn’t one of the stamp in the set. But don’t worry – if you are careful you can create what you need – I inked up the SEVENT – part of the Seventy-fifth stamp and then the IETH part of one of the other stamps (there are several) and made one that said SEVENTIETH.
I also used a little bit of paste that I had left for the envelope. And I added the card to a bottle of wine that was wrapped up in 6″ x 17″ Gusseted Cellophane Bag and tied with Lemon Lime Twist Ribbon.
All ready for a masculine birthday!
Thanks for stopping by today.
