Today – December 9th – is National Christmas Card Day. You would think that it would be something I already knew since I make cards but no. This is the first time I’ve heard of it.
CHRISTMAS CARD DAY – December 9th
Each year around this time, friends and families begin mailing their holiday cards. Christmas Card Day serves as a reminder to get your stamps, envelopes, and cards together so you can share your holiday cheer. Are you making your cards this year? I did not get cards made this year – well I got some made but not enough to send out to everyone. Since we moved I’m working on a photo card instead.
These days everyone mails a variety of cards at Christmas time. In our modern world of social media some just post online or send emails and messages but cards are still around too. There are handmade cards, store bought cards, photo cards, Christmas letters, post cards, business cards and even New Year’s cards. Just remember it’s a way to say “I’m thinking of you” no matter what form it comes in.
Here is a fun set of cards that I made with products from our Mini Catalog. These were really fun with non-traditional colors. Some of these products are on the LAST Chance List – so be sure to order them now before they sell out.
Happy Holidays to you!
♥ Monika
Supply List
Stamps: Whimsical Trees, Peaceful Deer, A Wish for Everything
Hello my friends I hope you and your families are healthy and that you had a wonderful Christmas. It’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop. A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is – Beary Comforting. I wish you a safe and happy new year – thanks for visiting me on this monthly blog hop!
This kit was sweet and full of supplies to send a big bear hug to someone special. It includes 12 cards – 3 different designs.
For my idea I wanted to take all the supplies for one set of cards and create double the number of cards. So each card base was cut into two 4″ x 5-1/4″ panels, each of the circle and rectangle elements were cut in half and I divided up the animals, the fun image pieces and the labels. I added Basic Gray card bases and used ink out of my stash for the stamping and Stampin’ Blends for some coloring.
Double Take Cards
I turned each card into to two cards. With a few supplies from your craft room you can double the amount of cards from this kit very easily. For the bear card I stamped a second bear on Whisper White card stock and colored him with Stampin’ Blends and cut him out. The background of the Soft Seafoam panel was stamped multiple times with Basic Gray ink. I kept the basic layout of the card exactly the same.
For the Koala cards cut the two of them apart so they can each be on one of the cards. Both the circle and the long label were cut in half also. On the plain Calypso Coral panel I stamped the leaf image in Calypso Coral ink. These make sweet birthday cards – one holding the gift and one the cupcake.
Finally the little racoon and the flowers were used on the third pair of cards. The flower stamp was used to cover the background on the Rich Razzleberry piece using the same color ink. For these cards I decided to add a little piece of gold twine to each element. Easy and sweet and ready to send to a friend.
Supply List
The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:
Card stock – Basic Gray, Whisper White
Ink – Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Rich Razzleberry (ink spot in the kit)
Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack (that’s where the gold twine comes from)
I hope you liked this alternate idea for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Are you ready for Christmas? I’m not but I do have my Jolly Gingerbread kit from Paper Pumpkin to help. This is our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop. A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is the Jolly Gingerbread kit from November. Our blog hop is late because last week was Thanksgiving. I hope you enjoyed time with your family.
This kit has 15 Gingerbread themed gift card holders with envelopes. You can also easily convert them to mini cards of gift tags. Below I created some alternate projects by adding supplies from my craft room. I’ll be sharing these project on my Facebook page on Monday, December 7th during my FB Live – noon ET. I hope you can join me – click here.
My first thought with this kit was to create a mini gingerbread house decorating kit! I also made a card using only the left over stamp set, a simple note card and a small treat holder using the kit supplies. I’ll share photo and supply that I added and if you want to see more join me Monday on FB.
Mini Gingerbread House Decorating Kit
This one was fun. I decorated the front of a Mini Paper Pumpkin Box with pieces from the kit. Then filled the box with candies to decorate. All you need to add is graham crackers and frosting to make the house and attach the candies. I found a large container of holiday sprinkles that I wanted to use in my kit. So I converted a Clear Tiny Treat Box into a holder that would fit inside my box. This will be a perfect little treat for my niece or the kids across the street. Maybe I better make my own mini gingerbread house!
Supply List
The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:
Card stock – Mint Macaron card stock
Cinnamon Cider ink
Mini Paper Pumpkin box
Clear Tiny Treat box
Linen Thread
Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder
Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
and candy – mini candy canes, holiday sixlets, holiday assorted sprinkles
Gingerbread man box
For this project I found these fun Gingerbread man cookies at the grocery store. The custom fit box was made from two of the gift card holders in the kit. These would be fun table favors at a holiday party. The box is made from two of the gift tag holders. I added a score line at the bottom to make them shorter and to form the bottom of the box. I trimmed away a piece of each to shorten the sides. Using one of the plain white house panels from the kit I cut to fit the shorter box and then stamped with the gingerbread house image. To color my house I used the Stampin’ Blends in coordinating colors.

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:
Once you’ve completed your kit you get to keep the stamp set and use it for other projects. I added card stock and some additional supplies to make a sweet Christmas card. The house was stamped and colored with Stampin’ Blends and then cut out. I pulled in some of the coordinating cardstock colors that match the kit.
Supply List
The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:
Cardstock – Cinnamon Cider, Daffodil Delight, Mint Macaron, Whisper White
I hope you liked these alternate ideas for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. See all of them on my FB page on Monday. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.
